Allah only desires to take away any uncleanliness from you, O people of the household, and purify you (thorough purifying)  

خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ غَدَاةً وَعَلَيْهِ مِرْطٌ مُرَحَّلٌ مِنْ شَعْرٍ أَسْوَدَ فَجَاءَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فَأَدْخَلَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ فَأَدْخَلَهَا ثُمَّ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَأَدْخَلَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ { إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا}  

Allah only desires to take away any uncleanliness from you, O people of the household, and purify you (thorough purifying) (Using translation from Muslim 2424)   

خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ غَدَاةً وَعَلَيْهِ مِرْطٌ مُرَجِّلٌ مِنْ شَعْرٍ أَسْوَدَ فَجَاءَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ فَأَدْخَلَهُمَا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ فَأَدْخَلَهَا مَعَهُمَا ثُمَّ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَأَدْخَلَهُ مَعَهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ went out one morning wearing a patched garment made of black hair. Then Hasan came and he brought him in with him. Then Husayn came and he brought him in with him. Then Fatima came and he brought her in with him. Then Ali came and he brought him in with him. Then he said, "Verily, Allah intends to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with thorough purification." [Surah Al-Ahzab: 33]  

خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ذَاتَ غَدَاةٍ وَعَلَيْهِ مِرْطٌ مُرَحَّلٌ مِنْ شَعْرٍ أَسْوَدَ فَجَاءَ الْحَسَنُ فَأَدْخَلَهُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ فَأَدْخَلَهُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ فَأَدْخَلَهَا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَأَدْخَلَهُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ went out one morning wearing a patterned black cloak. Hasan came, and he brought him under the cloak with him. Then Husayn came, and he brought him under the cloak with him. Then Fatimah came, and he brought her under the cloak with him. Then Ali came, and he brought him under the cloak with him. Then he said: "Allah only desires to remove defilement from you, O people of the household, and to purify you thoroughly."  

"خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ غَدَاةً وَعَلَيْهِ مرْطٌ مُرَجَّلٌ مِنْ شَعَرٍ أَسْوَدَ فَجَاءَ الحَسَنُ فَأَدْخَلَهُ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ الحُسَيْنُ فَأَدْخَلَهُ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ فَأَدْخَلَهَا، ثُمَّ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَأَدْخَلَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} ".  

"For six months, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would pass by the door of Fatimah when going to the Fajr prayer saying: 'As-Salat O People of the house! Allah only wishes to remove the Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with thorough purification (33:33).'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَابِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى صَلاَةِ الْفَجْرِ يَقُولُ الصَّلاَةَ يَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ ( إنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا ) قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ إِنَّمَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَمْرَاءِ وَمَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pass by the house of Fatimah for six months when he went out for Fajr prayer and would say: "O people of the house, indeed Allah wants to remove impurity from you and purify you with a thorough purification." (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33)  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَيْتِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَأَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْفَجْرِ فَيَقُولُ الصَّلَاةَ يَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pass by the door of Fatimah for six months when he went out to perform the Fajr prayer. He would say, "O people of the household, prayer. Indeed, Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the household, and to purify you with purification." [Surah Al-Ahzab 33].  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَابِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ يَقُولُ الصَّلَاةُ يَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pass by the door of Fatimah for six months when he went out for the Fajr prayer. He would say, "O people of the household, prayer! Indeed, Allah desires to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification." [Al-Ahzab 33]  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَابِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ لِصَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ يَقُولُ الصَّلَاةُ يَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pass by the house of Fatimah for six months when he would go out for the Fajr prayer, and he would say the prayer: "Indeed, Allah desires to repel impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَيْتِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَيَقُولُ الصَّلَاةُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا}  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pass by the house of Fatimah for six months when he went out from the morning prayer, he would say, "O family of the house, the prayer. Allah desires only to remove from you all impurity, O people of the house, and to purify you with thorough purification."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَيْتِ فَاطِمَةَ ؓ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ يَقُولُ «يَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ» الصَّلَاةَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا}  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pass by the house of Fatimah for six months whenever he went out for the Fajr prayer and he would say: "Prayer, O people of the house! Indeed, Allah only wills to remove impurity from you, O people of the house, and to purify you thoroughly."  

"أنَّ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبيْتِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرجَ إِلَى الْفَجْرِ فَيَقُولُ: الصَّلاَةَ يَا أهْلَ الْبَيْتِ، إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ الله لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ البَيْت وَيُطَهِّرَكُم تَطهِيرًا".  

"When these Ayat were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Allah only wishes to remove the Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with a thorough purification...' (33:33) in the home of Umm Salamah, he called for Fatimah, Hasan, Husain, and wrapped them in a cloak, and 'Ali was behind him, so he wrapped him in the cloak, then he said: 'O Allah! These are the people of my house, so remove the Rijs from them, and purify them with a thorough purification.' So Umm Salamah said: 'And am I with them O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'You are in your place, and you are more virtuous to me.'"  

نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺَّ ( إنمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا ) فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَدَعَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَجَلَّلَهُمْ بِكِسَاءٍ وَعَلِيٌّ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ فَجَلَّلَهُ بِكِسَاءٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلاَءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَنْتِ عَلَى مَكَانِكِ وَأَنْتِ إِلَيَّ خَيْرٍ  

"When these Ayat were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Allah only wishes to remove the Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with a thorough purification (33:33)' in the home of Umm Salamah, he called for Fatimah, Hasan, Husain, and wrapped him in the cloak, and 'Ali was behind him, so he wrapped him in the cloak, then he said: 'O Allah! These are the people of my house, so remove the Rijs from them, and purify them with a thorough purification.' So Umm Salamah said: 'And I, Prophet of Allah?' He said: 'You are in your place (meaning you are already a member of my household), and you are goodness.'"  

قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺَّ ( إنمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا ) فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَدَعَا فَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَجَلَّلَهُمْ بِكِسَاءٍ وَعَلِيٌّ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ فَجَلَّلَهُمْ بِكِسَاءٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلاَءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَنْتِ عَلَى مَكَانِكِ وَأَنْتِ عَلَى خَيْرٍ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ  

[Machine] This verse was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the house of Umm Salamah. "Verily, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification." So, he called Hasan, Husayn, and Fatimah and sat them in front of him. He called Ali and sat him behind his back. Then he covered himself and them with a cloak. Then he said, "O Allah, these are the members of my household. Remove impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification." Umm Salamah asked, "Can I be with them, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "You are in a good place."  

نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} فَدَعَا الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ وَفَاطِمَةَ فَأَجْلَسَهُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَدَعَا عَلِيًّا فَأَجْلَسَهُ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ وَتَجَلَّلَ هُوَ وَهُمْ بِالْكِسَاءِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ «وَأَنْتِ مَكَانَكِ وَأَنْتِ عَلَى خَيْرٍ»  

[Machine] "The verse was revealed in her house: 'Indeed, Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification.' The Prophet, ﷺ , took a cloak and covered Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn with it. Then he said, 'O Allah, these are the people of my household, so remove all impurity from them and purify them thoroughly.' I asked, while standing at the doorstep, 'O Messenger of Allah, even if I am with them?' He replied, 'Indeed, you are in goodness and will go towards goodness.'"  

أَنَّ الْآيَةَ نَزَلَتْ فِي بَيْتِهَا {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلِيٌّ وَفَاطِمَةُ وَالْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ فَأَخَذَ عَبَاءَةً فَجَلَّلَهُمْ بِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» فَقُلْتُ وَأَنَا عِنْدَ عَتَبَةِ الْبَابِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّكِ بِخَيْرٍ وَإِلَى خَيْرٍ»  

[Machine] Fatimah came to her father with a dish while he was lying down. He said, "Go and call my son and your cousin." She covered them with a garment, then he said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household and my protection. Remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly." Umm Salamah asked, "Can I be with them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You are the wife of the Prophet ﷺ . You may choose to be with me or to do what is best."  

أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ جَاءَتْ بِطُعَيْمٍ لَهَا إِلَى أَبِيهَا وَهُوَ عَلَى مَنَامَةٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ «اذْهَبِي فَادْعِي ابْنِي وَابْنَ عَمِّكِ» قَالَتْ فَجَلَّلَهُمْ أَوْ قَالَتْ فَحَوَّلْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْكِسَاءَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَحَامَتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» قَالَتْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «أَنْتِ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَإِلَيَّ أَوْ عَلَى خَيْرٍ»  

[Machine] Fatimah brought a dish to her father while he was at the house of Umm Salamah. She said, "Mother, go and call my son and your nephew." They came and he covered them with a garment and said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household and my protection. Remove impurity from them and cleanse them thoroughly." Umm Salamah said, "And am I included with them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You are the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , and you have a good status."  

أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ جَاءَتْ بِطُعَيمٍ لَهَا إِلَى أَبِيهَا وَهُوَ عَلَى مَنَامَةٍ لَهُ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ «اذْهَبِي فَادْعِي ابْنَيَّ وَابْنَ عَمِّكِ» فَجَاءُوا فَجَلَّلَهُمْ بِكِسَاءٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَحَامَتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «أَنْتِ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَإِلَى أَوْ عَلَى خَيْرٍ»  

"The Prophet ﷺ put a garment over Al-Hasan, Al-Hussain, 'Ali and Fatimah, then he said: 'O Allah, these are the people of my house and the close ones, so remove the Rijs from them and purify them thoroughly." So Umm Salamah said: 'And am I with them, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: "You are upon good."'  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَلَّلَ عَلَى الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ وَعَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ كِسَاءً ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلاَءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَخَاصَّتِي أَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنَّكَ عَلَى خَيْرٍ  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ covered Ali, Hasan, Husain, and Fatimah with a cloak and then said, 'O Allah, these are the members of my household and my close relatives. O Allah, remove impurity from them and purify them completely.' Umm Salamah said, 'O Messenger of Allah, am I included in this?' He replied, 'Indeed, you are included in goodness.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَلَّلَ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ وَحَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ وَفَاطِمَةَ كِسَاءً ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَحَامَّتِي اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَا مِنْهُمْ؟ قَالَ إِنَّكِ إِلَى خَيْرٍ  

[Machine] So they started and spoke, and we do not know what they said. He said, then he got up and dusted off his clothes and said, "Woe to them! May they be destroyed!" They fell into a man who had ten (dirhams) and they fell into a man who said to him (the Prophet ﷺ), "I will send a man whom Allah will never humiliate; he loves Allah and His Messenger." He said, "Who can do this?" They said, "Ali is there." He said, "Where is Ali?" They said, "He is in the grinding mill." He said, "Why would any of you grind?" He said, so he came while he was blind, unable to see. He said, so he spat in his eyes, then he shook the banner three times and gave it to him. So he came with Safiyyah bint Huyy and he sent so-and-so with Surah At-Tawbah, then he sent Ali after him and he took it from him. He said, "No one should take it except a man from me and I am from him." He said, and he said to his cousins, "Which of you will support me in this world and the Hereafter?" He said, and Ali was sitting with him. So they refused. Ali said, "I will support you in this world and the Hereafter." He said, "You are my supporter in this world and the Hereafter." He said, so he left him and then he approached another man from among them and said, "Which of you will support me in this world and the Hereafter?" They refused. He said, so Ali said to him, "I will support you in this world and the Hereafter." He said, "You are my supporter in this world and the Hereafter." He said, and he was the first of the people to embrace Islam after Khadijah. He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took off his garment and put it on Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and said, "Indeed, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you completely." He said, and Ali sold himself and wore the garment of the Prophet ﷺ, then slept in his place. He said, and the polytheists used to throw stones at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Bakr and Ali came, and Ali was sleeping. He said, and Abu Bakr thought that he was the Prophet of Allah. He said, so he said to him, "O Messenger of Allah!" He said, so Ali said to him, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has gone toward Bir Ma'un, so go after him and catch up with him." He said, so Abu Bakr went and entered the cave with him. He said, and Ali was being pelted with stones just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to be, while he was relieving himself. He had wrapped his head in his garment, not uncovering it until daybreak. Then he uncovered his head and they said to him, "Indeed, you are a wretched one. Your companion we would throw stones at him while he wasn't relieving himself, and here we are throwing stones at you while you are relieving yourself. We have been displeased with that." He said, and he went out with the people in the Battle of Tabuk. He said, and Ali said to him, "Shall I go out with you?" He said, so Ali wept and said to him, "Would you not be pleased to be like Harun to my Musa, except that you are not a prophet? It would not be appropriate for me to go out without you as my caliph." He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "You are my guardian of every believer after me." And he said, and he blocked the doors of the mosque except for Ali's door. He said, so he would enter the mosque in a state of impurity, and that was his way, as there was no other way for him. He said, and he said, "Whoever I am his guardian, then Ali is his guardian." He said, and Allah Almighty informed us in the Qur'an that He was pleased with them, the people of the tree and He knew what was in their hearts. Did He inform us that He was displeased with them afterwards? He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Umar, when he said, "Give me permission and I will strike his neck," He said, so Ali said to him, "Were you doing that?" And how do you know that Allah has not looked at the people of Badr and said, "Do as you please"?  

إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِذْ أتَاهُ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ فَقَالُوا يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ إِمَّا أَنْ تَقُومَ مَعَنَا وَإِمَّا أَنْ يُخْلُونَا هَؤُلَاءِ قَالَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بَلْ أقُومُ مَعَكُمْ قَالَ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ صَحِيحٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَعْمَى قَالَ فَابْتَدَءُوا فَتَحَدَّثُوا فَلَا نَدْرِي مَا قَالُوا قَالَ فَجَاءَ يَنْفُضُ ثَوْبَهُ وَيَقُولُ أُفْ وَتُفْ وَقَعُوا فِي رَجُلٍ لَهُ عَشْرٌ وَقَعُوا فِي رَجُلٍ قَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَأَبْعَثَنَّ رَجُلًا لَا يُخْزِيهِ اللهُ أَبَدًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ قَالَ فَاسْتَشْرَفَ لَهَا مَنِ اسْتَشْرَفَ قَالَ أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ؟ قَالُوا هُوَ فِي الرَّحَى يَطْحَنُ قَالَ وَمَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ لِيَطْحَنَ؟ قَالَ فَجَاءَ وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ لَا يَكَادُ يُبْصِرُ قَالَ فَنَفَثَ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ ثُمَّ هَزَّ الرَّايَةَ ثَلَاثًا فَأَعْطَاهَا إِيَّاهُ فَجَاءَ بِصَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ قَالَ ثُمَّ بَعَثَ فُلَانًا بِسُورَةِ التَّوْبَةِ فَبَعَثَ عَلِيًّا خَلْفَهُ فَأَخَذَهَا مِنْهُ قَالَ لَا يَذْهَبُ بِهَا إِلَّا رَجُلٌ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ قَالَ وَقَالَ لِبَنِي عَمِّهِ أَيُّكُمْ يُوَالِينِي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ؟ قَالَ وَعَلِيٌّ مَعَهُ جَالِسٌ فَأَبَوْا فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ أَنَا أُوَالِيكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ قَالَ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ قَالَ فَتَرَكَهُ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمْ يُوَالِينِي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ؟ فَأَبَوْا قَالَ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ أَنَا أُوَالِيكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ قَالَ وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ بَعْدَ خَدِيجَةَ

قَالَ وَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثَوْبَهُ فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ فَقَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]

قَالَ وَشَرَى عَلِيٌّ نَفْسَهُ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ نَامَ مَكَانَهُ قَالَ وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَرْمُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعَلِيٌّ نَائِمٌ قَالَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ يَحْسَبُ أَنَّهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَدِ انْطَلَقَ نَحْوَ بِئْرِ مَيْمُونٍ فَأَدْرِكْهُ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ الْغَارَ قَالَ وَجَعَلَ عَلِيٌّ يُرْمَى بِالْحِجَارَةِ كَمَا كَانَ يُرْمَى نَبِيُّ اللهِ وَهُوَ يَتَضَوَّرُ قَدْ لَفَّ رَأْسَهُ فِي الثَّوْبِ لَا يُخْرِجُهُ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ ثُمَّ كَشَفَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكَ لَلَئِيمٌ كَانَ صَاحِبُكَ نَرْمِيهِ فَلا يَتَضَوَّرُ وَأَنْتَ تَتَضَوَّرُ وَقَدِ اسْتَنْكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ قَالَ وَخَرَجَ بِالنَّاسِ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ أَخْرُجُ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ لَا فَبَكَى عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّكَ لَسْتَ بِنَبِيٍّ إِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ أَذْهَبَ إِلَّا وَأَنْتَ خَلِيفَتِي قَالَ وَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ بَعْدِي وَقَالَ وسَدَّ أَبْوَابَ الْمَسْجِدِ غَيْرَ بَابِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ فَيَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ جُنُبًا وَهُوَ طَرِيقُهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ طَرِيقٌ غَيْرُهُ قَالَ وَقَالَ مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَإِنَّ مَوْلَاهُ عَلِيٌّ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنَا اللهُ ﷻ فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَنَّهُ قَدْ رَضِيَ عَنْهُمْ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ هَلْ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّهُ سَخِطَ عَلَيْهِمْ بَعْدُ؟قَالَ وَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ لِعُمَرَ حِينَ قَالَ ائْذَنْ لِي فَلْأَضْرِبْ عُنُقَهُ قَالَ وَكُنْتَ فَاعِلًا؟ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ اللهَ قَدِ اطَّلَعَ إِلَى أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ فَقَالَ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah said, "I will send a man whom Allah will not disgrace." So he sent 'Ali while he was grinding flour at the mill, and none of you are to grind, so they brought him Armand. He said, "O Prophet of Allah, I can hardly see," so he spat in his eyes and shook the flag three times, then handed it to him. It opened for him, and he brought Saffiyyah the daughter of Huyayy. Then he said to his cousins, "Which of you will support me in this world and the Hereafter three times?" until he passed by the last one, 'Ali said, "O Prophet of Allah, I am your supporter in this world and the Hereafter." The Prophet said, "You are my supporter in this world and the Hereafter." He sent Abu Bakr with the Surah of Repentance and sent 'Ali on his way. Abu Bakr said to him, "O 'Ali, perhaps Allah and His Prophet will be angry with me." 'Ali said, "No, rather the Prophet of Allah said, 'No one should convey from me except a man from among me and I from him.'" The Prophet put his cloak over 'Ali, Fatimah, al-Hasan and al-Husayn, and said, "Verily, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and to purify you with a thorough purification." And he was the first person to embrace Islam after Khadijah. He sold himself and wore the Prophet's cloak, then he stood in his place. He said, "The polytheists were throwing rocks at the Messenger of Allah, so Abu Bakr came and said to me, 'O Messenger of Allah, and Abu Bakr considers him to be the Prophet of Allah?' 'Ali said. 'The Prophet of Allah has gone towards the well of Maymunah, so catch up with him.' Abu Bakr went and went with him to the cave, and 'Ali began throwing stones just as the Messenger of Allah used to throw them, while he was wrapping his head in a garment which he would not remove until morning. Then he uncovered his head when morning came. They said, 'You are vile, your companion is being stoned and you are throwing stones and he does not throw stones, and you are wrapping your head and he is uncovering his head, we detest that.' Then he led the people in the Tabuk expedition. 'Ali said, 'Shall I go out with you?' The Prophet said, 'No.' 'Ali wept, and the Prophet of Allah said to him, 'Are you pleased to be to me as Harun was to Musa, except that you are not a Prophet? It is not right for me to go unless you are my caliph.'" He said to him, "You are the Wali of every believer after me." And the Messenger of Allah blocked the doors of the mosque except for the door of 'Ali so that he entered the mosque in a state of janabah, and it is the path he takes, and he said, "Whom I am a supporter of, then 'Ali is his supporter." Ibn 'Abbas said, "Allah has informed us in the Qur'an that He has been pleased with them, about the people of the tree. He knows what is in their hearts. Did He inform us that He was angry with them after that?" He said, "The Prophet of Allah said to 'Umar when he said, 'May I strike his neck,' meaning Al-Hatib. 'Ali said, 'Were you about to do it? What do you know? Perhaps Allah says, "Take whatever you want" aloud,' looking at the people of Badr."  

نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأَبْعَثَنَّ رَجُلًا لَا يُخْزِيهِ اللهُ» فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ فِي الرَّحَى يَطْحَنُ وَمَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ لِيَطْحَنَ فَجَاءُوا بِهِ أَرْمَدَ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مَا أَكَادُ أُبْصِرُ فَنَفَثَ فِي عَيْنيهِ وَهَزَّ الرَّايَةَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ دَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ فَفُتِحَ لَهُ فَجَاءَ بِصَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِبَنِي عَمِّهِ أَيُّكُمْ يَتَوَلَّانِي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ثَلَاثًا حَتَّى مَرَّ عَلَى آخِرِهِمْ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَنَا وَلِيُّكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ» قَالَ وَبَعَثَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ بِسُورَةِ التَّوْبَةِ وَبَعَثَ عَلِيًّا عَلَى أَثَرِهِ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَا عَلِيُّ لَعَلَّ اللهَ وَنَبِيَّهُ سَخِطَا عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لَا وَلَكِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُبَلِّغَ عَنِّي إِلَّا رَجُلٌ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ» قَالَ وَوَضَعَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ وَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ أَنْ يُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ بَعْدَ خَدِيجَةَ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَالَ وَشَرَى عَلِيٌّ نَفْسَهُ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَامَ مَكَانَهُ قَالَ وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَرْمُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ إِلَيَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ يَحْسَبُهُ نَبِيَّ اللهِ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَدِ انْطَلَقَ نَحْوَ بِئْرِ مَيْمُونٍ فَأَدْرِكْهُ فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ الْغَارَ وَجَعَلَ عَلِيٌّ يَرْمِي بِالْحِجَارَةِ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْمِي وَهُوَ يَتَضَوَّرُ قَدْ لَفَّ رَأْسَهُ فِي الثَّوْبِ لَا يُخْرِجُهُ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ ثُمَّ كَشَفَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكَ لَلَئِيمٌ كَانَ صَاحِبُكَ نَرْمِيهِ بِالْحِجَارَةِ فَلَا يَتَضَوَّرُ وَأَنْتَ تَضَوَّرُ وَقَدِ اسْتَنْكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ بِالنَّاسِ فِي غَزَاةِ تَبُوكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ أَخْرُجُ مَعَكَ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا» فَبَكَى عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ لَهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّكَ لَسْتَ بِنَبِيٍّ إِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ أَذْهَبَ إِلَّا وَأَنْتَ خَلِيفَتِي» قَالَ وَقَالَ لَهُ «أَنْتَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ بَعْدِي» قَالَ وَسَدَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَبْوَابَ الْمَسْجِدِ غَيْرَ بَابِ عَلِيٍّ فَيَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ جُنُبًا وَهُوَ طَرِيقُهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ طَرِيقٌ غَيْرُهُ قَالَ وَقَالَ «مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَعَلِيٌّ مَوْلَاهُ» قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَخْبَرَنَا اللهُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَنَّهُ قَدْ رَضِيَ عَنْهُمْ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهَلْ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّهُ سَخِطَ عَلَيْهِمْ بَعْدَهُ؟ وَقَالَ إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِعُمَرَ حِينَ قَالَ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي فَأَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ يَعْنِي حَاطِبًا فَقَالَ أَفَكُنْتَ فَاعِلًا؟ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ اللهَ {اطَّلَعَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ فَقَالَ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ} ؟  

[Machine] Certainly! Here is the passage translated into English:

"I was sitting with Ibn Abbas when nine men came to him and said, 'Either you come with us, or leave us alone, O you.' At that time, he was well and had not yet gone blind. He said, 'I will go with you.' They spoke, but I do not know what they said. He returned while shaking his garment and said, 'Uff and Tuff, they attack a man with ten virtues. They have attacked a man.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I will send a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, whom Allah will never disgrace.' Everyone looked around, and the Messenger said, 'Where is Ali?' He was at the mill grinding, and none of you were grinding for him. So he was summoned, even though he was suffering from sore eyes and could barely see. The Prophet ﷺ spat in his eyes, shook the flag thrice, and then handed it to him. He returned with Safiyyah bint Huyayy. The Prophet ﷺ sent Abu Bakr with Surah Al-Tawbah and then sent Ali after him to take it from him, saying, 'No one will take it but a man who is from me and I am from him.' The Prophet ﷺ gathered Hasan, Husayn, Ali, and Fatimah, covered them with a cloth, and said, 'These are my household and my close kin, so remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly.' Ali was the first to accept Islam after Khadijah. He wore the garment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and slept as the polytheists pelted him, thinking he was the Prophet ﷺ . Abu Bakr came and said, 'O Prophet of Allah,' and Ali replied, 'The Prophet of Allah ﷺ has gone towards the well of Maymun.' He followed him and entered the cave with him. Meanwhile, the polytheists continued pelting Ali until morning. During the Battle of Tabuk, Ali asked to join, but the Prophet ﷺ said, 'No.' Ali cried, so the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Are you not pleased to be to me like Aaron was to Moses, except there is no prophet after me?' and said, 'You are my successor among every believer after me.' He blocked all the mosque's doors except Ali's, allowing him to enter while in a state of impurity (junub), for he had no other path. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever I am his protector (wali), then Ali is his protector.' Ibn Abbas said, 'Allah informed us in the Quran that He is pleased with the people of the tree; did He inform us afterward that He was ever displeased with them?' The Prophet ﷺ told Umar when he said, 'Grant me permission to strike his neck, meaning Hatib,' he said, 'How do you know? Perhaps Allah has looked at the people of Badr and said, 'Do as you wish, for I have forgiven you.''"  

إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِذْ أَتَاهُ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ فَقَالُوا إِمَّا أَنْ تَقُومَ مَعَنَا وَإِمَّا أَنْ تَخْلُونَا يَا هَؤُلَاءِ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ صَحِيحٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَعْمَى قَالَ «أَنَا أَقُومُ مَعَكُمْ» فَتَحَدَّثُوا فَلَا أَدْرِي مَا قَالُوا فَجَاءَ وَهُوَ يَنْفُضُ ثَوْبَهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «أُفٍّ وَتُفٍ يَقَعُونَ فِي رَجُلٍ لَهُ عَشْرٌ وَقَعُوا فِي رَجُلٍ» قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأَبْعَثَنَّ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ لَا يُخْزِيهِ اللهُ أَبَدًا» فَأَشْرَفَ مَنِ اسْتَشْرَفَ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ؟» وَهُوَ فِي الرَّحَا يَطْحَنُ وَمَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ لِيَطْحَنَ فَدَعَاهُ وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ مَا يَكَادُ أَنْ يُبْصِرَ فَنَفَثَ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ ثُمَّ هَزَّ الرَّايَةَ ثَلَاثًا فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ فَجَاءَ بِصَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ وَبَعَثَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ بِسُورَةِ التَّوْبَةِ وَبَعَثَ عَلِيًّا خَلْفَهُ فَأَخَذَهَا مِنْهُ فَقَالَ «لَا يَذْهَبُ بِهَا رَجُلٌ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ هُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ» وَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ وَعَلِيًّا وَفَاطِمَةَ فَمَدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبًا فَقَالَ «هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَخَاصَّتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ بَعْدَ خَدِيجَةَ وَلَبِسَ ثَوْبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَامَ فَجَعَلَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَرْمُونَ كَمَا يَرْمُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ ذَهَبَ نَحْوَ بِئْرِ مَيْمُونٍ فَاتَّبَعَهُ فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ الْغَارَ وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَرْمُونَ عَلِيًّا حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ وَخَرَجَ بِالنَّاسِ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ أَخْرُجُ مَعَكَ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا» فَبَكَى فَقَالَ «أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّكَ لَسْتَ بِنَبِيٍّ؟» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَنْتَ خَلِيفَتِي» يَعْنِي فِي كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي قَالَ «وَسَدَّ أَبْوَابَ الْمَسْجِدِ غَيْرَ بَابِ عَلِيٍّ فَكَانَ يَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ وَهُوَ فِي طَرِيقِهِ لَيْسَ لَهُ طَرِيقٌ غَيْرَهُ» وَقَالَ «مَنْ كُنْتُ وَلِيَّهُ فَعَلِيٌّ وَلِيُّهُ» قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَخْبَرَنَا اللهُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَنَّهُ قَدْ رَضِيَ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَهَلْ حَدَّثَنَا بَعْدُ أَنَّهُ سَخِطَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِعُمَرَ حِينَ قَالَ «ائْذَنْ لِي فَلَأَضْرِبُ عُنُقَهَ يَعْنِي حَاطِبًا » وَقَالَ «مَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ اللهَ قَدِ اطَّلَعَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ؟» فَقَالَ «اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ فَقَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَكُمْ»  

[Machine] I entered upon Wathila bin Al-Asqa' while he was with some people, and they mentioned Ali. When they stood up, he said to me, "Shall I not inform you of what I saw from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" I said, "Yes." He said, "I went to Fatimah to ask her about Ali." She said, "He has gone to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So I sat waiting for him until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with Ali, Hasan, and Husayn, each holding one of their hands, until they entered. He brought Ali and Fatimah closer and seated them in front of him, and seated Hasan and Husayn on his knees, then wrapped them with his cloak or said garment. Then he recited this verse: {Indeed, Allah intends to remove impurity from you, O people of the [Prophet’s] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification} (Al-Ahzab 33). And he said, "O Allah, these are my household (Ahl al-Bayt), and my household are more deserving."  

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ وَعِنْدَهُ قَوْمٌ فَذَكَرُوا عَلِيًّا فَلَمَّا قَامُوا قَالَ لِي أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِمَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ أَتَيْتُ فَاطِمَةَ أَسْأَلُهَا عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَتْ تَوَجَّهَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَلَسْتُ أَنْتَظِرُهُ حَتَّى جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ عَلِيٌّ وَحَسَنٌ وَحُسَيْنٌ آخِذٌ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بِيَدِهِ حَتَّى دَخَلَ فَأَدْنَى عَلِيًّا وَفَاطِمَةَ فَأَجْلَسَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَجْلَسَ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فَخِذِهِ ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبَهُ أَوْ قَالَ كِسَاءً ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33] وَقَالَ اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أَحَقُّ  

[Machine] I went to Ali and did not find him, so Fatima said to me, "Go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and call him." So he came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they entered, and I entered with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Hasan and Husayn and seated each of them on his thighs, brought Fatima closer to him, along with her husband, then wrapped them with a cloak and said, "Indeed, Allah only desires to remove impurities from you, O people of the household, and to purify you thoroughly." [Quran 33:33] Then he said, "These are my household. O Allah, they are more deserving."  

أَتَيْتُ عَلِيًّا فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ فَقَالَتْ لِي فَاطِمَةُ انْطَلِقْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدْعُوهُ فَجَاءَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَا وَدَخَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا فَدَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ فَأَقْعَدَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فَخِذَيْهِ وَأَدْنَى فَاطِمَةَ مِنْ حِجْرِهِ وَزَوْجِهَا ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبًا وَقَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ} [الأحزاب 33] أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي أَحَقُّ»  

[Machine] I came looking for Ali but did not find him. Fatimah said he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to call him, so I sat down. Then Ali came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they entered, and I entered with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Hasan and Husayn and seated each of them on his thigh. He brought Fatimah closer to him and her husband, then wrapped them with his cloak while I was present and said, "Indeed, Allah desires to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and to purify you thoroughly." [Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:33] O Allah, these are the members of my household.  

جِئْتُ أُرِيدُ عَلِيًّا فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدْعُوهُ فَاجْلِسْ فَجَاءَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ وَدَخَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا قَالَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَأَجْلَسَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فَخِذِهِ وَأَدْنَى فَاطِمَةَ مِنْ حِجْرِهِ وَزَوْجَهَا ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبَهُ وَأَنَا شَاهِدٌ فَقَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33] اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي  

[Machine] From Ali in his house, it was said to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went and entered the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I entered. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat on the bed and Fatimah sat on his right, and Ali sat on his left, and Hasan and Husayn sat in front of him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah desires to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you completely." O Allah, these are my family." Wathilah said, "I said, 'Am I also from your family, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'And you are from my family.' Wathilah said, "Indeed, it is from the most hopeful things that I hope for."  

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَقِيلَ لِي ذَهَبَ يَأْتِي بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذْ جَاءَ فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَدَخَلْتُ فَجَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ وَأَجْلَسَ فَاطِمَةَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَلِيًّا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَحَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَقَالَ «{إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ} أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي» قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ فَقُلْتُ مِنْ نَاحِيَةِ الْبَيْتِ وَأَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ؟ قَالَ «وَأَنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِي» قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ إِنَّهَا لَمِنْ أَرْجَى مَا أَرْتَجِي  

[Machine] Fatimah went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and called him until he came. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and Fatimah entered with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Hassan and Hussein and each of them sat on his lap, and Fatimah sat closest to his thigh. Then he covered them with his cloak while I was leaning against him. Then he said, "Indeed, Allah intends to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification." Then he said, "These are my family." Wathila said, "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, am I not from your family?' He said, 'And you are from my family.' Wathila said, 'Indeed, this is the most hopeful thing I hope for.'"  

فَاطِمَةُ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُوهُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ قَالَ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَجَاءَ فَدَخَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَأَجْلَسَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فَخِذِهِ وَأَدْنَى فَاطِمَةَ مِنْ حِجْرِهِ ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبَهُ وَأَنَا مُسْتَنِدٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبُ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي» قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِكَ؟ قَالَ «وَأَنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِي» قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ إِنَّهُ لَأَرْجَى مَا أَرْجُوهُ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was in her house, and Fatimah came to him with a tray that had a roasted sheep. She brought it to him and he said to her, "Invite your husband and your sons." She said, "Then Ali, Al-Hasan, and Al-Husayn came and entered upon him. They sat down and ate from that roasted sheep while he was lying down on a mat, covered with a Khaybari cloth. She said, "And I was praying in the chamber, and Allah revealed this verse to him: 'Indeed, Allah intends to remove from you the impurity, O people of the Prophet's household, and to purify you with thorough purification.' (Quran 33:33) She said, "So he took the edge of the cloth and covered them with it, then he raised his hand and with it pointed towards the sky. Then he said, "O Allah, they are my family and my chosen ones, so remove impurity from them and purify them with thorough purification." She said, "I entered the house and said, 'And I am with you, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Indeed, you are with good, indeed you are with good.' Abdul-Malik reported to me from Abu Layla, from Umm Salamah, with a similar narration from Ata, without any difference. Abdul-Malik reported to me from Dawud ibn Abi Awf, from Abu al-Jahhaaf, from Shahar ibn Hawshab, with a similar narration.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ فِي بَيْتِهَا فَأَتَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ بِبُرْمَةٍ فِيهَا خَزِيرَةٌ فَدَخَلَتْ بِهَا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهَا ادْعِي زَوْجَكِ وَابْنَيْكِ قَالَتْ فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ وَالْحُسَيْنُ وَالْحَسَنُ فَدَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَجَلَسُوا يَأْكُلُونَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْخَزِيرَةِ وَهُوَ عَلَى مَنَامَةٍ لَهُ عَلَى دُكَّانٍ تَحْتَهُ كِسَاءٌ خَيْبَرِيٌّ قَالَتْ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي فِي الْحُجْرَةِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33] قَالَتْ فَأَخَذَ فَضْلَالْكِسَاءِ فَغَشَّاهُمْ بِهِ ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ فَأَلْوَى بِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَخَاصَّتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَخَاصَّتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا قَالَتْ فَأَدْخَلْتُ رَأْسِي الْبَيْتَ فَقُلْتُ وَأَنَا مَعَكُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ إِنَّكِ إِلَى خَيْرٍ إِنَّكِ إِلَى خَيْرٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو لَيْلَى عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عَطَاءٍ سَوَاءً قَالَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ وَحَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَوْفٍ أَبُو الْجَحَّافِ عَنْ شَهْرِ ابْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ بِمِثْلِهِ سَوَاءً  

[Machine] I heard Umm Salamah saying, "Fatimah came, carrying a tray with food in it, and she placed it between his hands. He then asked her, 'Where is your cousin?' She said, 'He is at home.' He said, 'Go and call him, and bring me my two grandsons.' So she came with her two sons, each of them holding the hand of the other, and Ali walking behind them, until they entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He made them sit in his chamber, with Ali on his right and Fatimah on his left." Umm Salamah said, "I took off my cloak, which was our mattress at home, and in which there was a piece of pig's meat. The Prophet ﷺ said to her, 'Pray to Allah for your husband and your two sons, Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn.' So she called upon Allah for them, and they all ate from that piece of pig's meat." Umm Salamah said, "And I was praying in that chamber when this verse was revealed: 'Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the household, and to purify you with a thorough purification.' Then the Prophet ﷺ took the edge of the cloak and covered them with it, and then he extended his right hand out from beneath it, pointing it towards the sky, and said, 'O Allah! These are the people of my household and my close ones, so keep away impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification.' Umm Salamah said, 'I entered my head into the chamber and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Am I not included with you?' He said, 'You shall have a good outcome twice.'"  

جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ عُدَّيَةً بِثَرِيدٍ لَهَا تَحْمِلُهَا فِي طَبَقٍ لَهَا حَتَّى وَضَعَتْهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهَا «وَأَيْنَ ابْنُ عَمِّكِ؟» قَالَتْ هُوَ فِي الْبَيْتِ قَالَ «اذْهَبِي فَادْعِيهِ وائْتِينِي بِابْنَيَّ» فَجَاءَتْ تَقُودُ ابْنَيْهَا كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا فِي يَدٍ وَعَلِيٌّ يَمْشِي فِي أَثَرِهِمَا حَتَّى دَخَلُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَجْلَسَهُمَا فِي حِجْرِهِ وَجَلَسَ عَلِيٌّ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَجَلَسَتْ فَاطِمَةُ ؓ فِي يَسَارِهِ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَأَخَذَتْ مِنْ تَحْتِي كِسَاءً كَانَ بِسَاطَنَا عَلَى الْمَنَامَةِ فِي الْبَيْتِ بِبُرْمَةٍ فِيهَا خَزِيرَةٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «ادْعِي لِي بَعْلَكِ وَابْنَيْكِ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ» فَدَعَتْهُمْ فَجَلَسُوا جَمِيعًا يَأْكُلُونَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْبُرْمَةِ قَالَتْ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي فِي تِلْكَ الْحُجْرَةِ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} فَأَخَذَ فَضْلَ الْكِسَاءِ فَغَشَّاهُمْ ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى مِنَ الْكِسَاءِ وَأَلْوَي بِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَحَامَتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَأَدْخَلْتُ رَأْسِيَ الْبَيْتَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا مَعَكُمْ؟ قَالَ «أَنْتِ عَلَى خَيْرٍ» مَرَّتَيْنِ  

[Machine] Muawiya said to Saad bin Abi Waqqas, "What prevents you from insulting Ibn Abi Talib?" Saad replied, "I do not insult what I mentioned three times, which the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said. It is more beloved to me than the red camels." Muawiya asked, "What are they, O Abu Ishaq?" Saad replied, "I do not insult him what I mentioned when the revelation came down upon him, and he took Ali and his two sons and Fatimah and hid them under his garment, then said, 'O Lord, these are the people of my household.' And I do not insult him what I mentioned when he left me behind in the Battle of Tabuk, which the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, led. Ali said to him, 'You left me with the children and women.' He replied, 'Do you not like to be to me like Aaron was to Moses, except that there is no prophethood after me?' And I do not insult him what I mentioned on the day of Khaybar, when the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, 'I will give this banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah will grant victory through his hands.' So, we rushed towards the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and he asked, 'Where is Ali?' They told him that he had sore eyes. He said, 'Call him.' When Ali came, the Prophet spat in his face and then gave him the banner. Allah granted him victory. I swear by Allah, Muawiya did not mention anything correctly until he left the city."  

قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لِسَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تَسُبَّ ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَا أَسُبُّ مَا ذَكَرْتُ ثَلَاثًا قَالَهُنَّ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِأَنْ تَكُونَ لِي وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حُمْرِ النَّعَمِ قَالَ لَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ مَا هُنَّ يَا أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ؟ قَالَ لَا أَسُبُّهُ مَا ذَكَرْتُ حِينَ نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ فَأَخَذَ عَلِيًّا وَابْنَيْهِ وَفَاطِمَةَ فَأَدْخَلَهُمْ تَحْتَ ثَوْبِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «رَبِّ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي» وَلَا أَسُبُّهُ مَا ذَكَرْتُ حِينَ خَلَّفَهُ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ غَزَاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ خَلَّفْتَنِي مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ وَالنِّسَاءِ قَالَ «أَلَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا نُبُوَّةَ بَعْدِي» وَلَا أَسُبُّهُ مَا ذَكَرْتُ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ هَذِهِ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ» فَتَطَاوَلْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ؟» قَالُوا هُوَ أَرْمَدُ فَقَالَ «ادْعُوهُ» فَدَعَوْهُ فَبَصَقَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهُ الرَّايَةَ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَلَا وَاللَّهِ مَا ذَكَرَهُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بِحَرْفٍ حَتَّى خَرَجَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ  

[Machine] "In my house, the verse 'Indeed, Allah desires to repel from you filth, O People of the Household' [33:33] was revealed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, 'Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn are the People of my Household.'"  

فِي بَيْتِي نَزَلَتْ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ} [الأحزاب 33] قَالَتْ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ فَقَالَ «هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي»  

[Machine] She said in my house that this verse was revealed: "Indeed, Allah intends to keep away the impurity from you, O people of the household" [Surah Al-Ahzab 33]. She said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husain, and said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household." Umm Salamah said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of the people of the household?" He replied, "You are of my family, but the people of my household have more right to be considered as such."  

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ فِي بَيْتِي نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ} [الأحزاب 33] قَالَتْ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ أَجْمَعِينَ فَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي» قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا أَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّكِ أَهْلِي خَيْرٌ وَهَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلِي أَحَقُّ»  

[Machine] "This verse {Indeed, Allah intends to repel from you impurity, O Ahl al-Bayt, and purify you with a thorough purification} is about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn."  

هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ  

[Machine] This verse "إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ" was revealed in relation to the family of the Prophet ﷺ, specifically referring to their purification from impurities.  

نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ} أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ ؓ  

[Machine] Um Salama received this verse in my house: "Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet's] household, and to purify you with purification." And I was sitting at the door, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of the people of the household?" He said, "You are to goodness."  

أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي بَيْتِي {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} وَأَنَا جَالِسَةٌ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَسْتُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ قَالَ «أَنْتِ إِلَى خَيْرٍ»  

[Machine] This verse was revealed in my house, "Indeed, Allah intends to keep away the impurity from you, O Ahlul Bayt (family of the Prophet), and purify you with a thorough purification." And she (Fatimah) was sitting at the door, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of the Ahlul Bayt?" He said, "You are to goodness."  

نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي بَيْتِي {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} وَهِيَ جَالِسَةٌ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَسْتُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ؟ قَالَ «أَنْتِ إِلَى خَيْرٍ»  

[Machine] In my house, this verse was revealed: "Indeed, Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you completely." So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn and said, "O Allah, these are my family!" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not part of the family?" He said, "If Allah wills."  

فِي بَيْتِي نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَهْلِي» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ قَالَ «إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ»  

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the descending mercy, he said, "Pray for me, pray for me." Safiyah asked, "Who should we pray for, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Pray for the people of my household, Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn." They were brought to him, and he placed his cloak over them. Then he raised his hands and said, "O Allah, these are my family, so bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad." Allah the Exalted then revealed, "Indeed, Allah wants to repel impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with thorough purification." [Surah Al-Ahzab 33]  

لَمَّا نَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى الرَّحْمَةِ هَابِطَةً قَالَ «ادْعُوا لِي ادْعُوا لِي» فَقَالَتْ صَفِيَّةُ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «أَهْلَ بَيْتِي عَلِيًّا وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ» فَجِيءَ بِهِمْ فَأَلْقَى عَلَيْهُمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ كِسَاءَهُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ آلِي فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ» وَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to Abbas ibn Abdul-Muttalib, "O Abu Al-Fadl, do not eject yourself and your children from your dwelling tomorrow until I come to you." So they waited for him until he came after dawn and entered upon them, saying, "Peace be upon you." They replied, "And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings." He asked, "How are you this morning?" They replied, "In good health, thanks to Allah." He said, "Come closer, come closer, come closer, so that some of you may touch others." When they gathered close, he enveloped them in his cloak and said, "O Lord, this is my uncle and these are the people of my household, so protect them from the Fire as You have protected me with this cloak of mine." They said, "Ameen, ameen, ameen."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ «يَا أَبَا الْفَضْلِ لَا تَرِمْ مَنْزِلَكَ أَنْتَ وَبَنُوكَ غَدًا حَتَّى آتِيَكُمْ» فَانْتَظَرُوهُ حَتَّى جَاءَ بَعْدَمَا أَضْحَى فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ «السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ» قَالَ وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ قَالَ «كَيْفَ أَصْبَحْتُمْ؟» قَالَ بِخَيْرٍ أَحْمَدُ اللهَ فَقَالَ «تَقَارَبُوا تَقَارَبُوا تَقَارَبُوا يَزْحَفُ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ» حَتَّى إِذَا أَمْكَنُوهُ اشْتَمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُلَاءَتِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا رَبُّ هَذَا عَمِّي وَصِنْوُ أَبِي وَهَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي فَاسْتُرْهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ كَسَتْرِي إِيَّاهُمْ بِمُلَاءَتِي هَذِهِ» قَالَ فَأَمَّنَتْ أُسْكُفَّةُ الْبَابِ وَحَوَائِطُ الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَتْ آمِينَ آمِينَ آمِينَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me, and Fatimah came to him with a dish. He put it in front of him and said to me, "Pray for your husband and your sons." So I prayed for them and they ate, and underneath them was a Khaibari blanket. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered the blanket around them and said, "These are the people of my household, so remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly."  

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ بِخَرِيزَةٍ فَوَضَعَتْهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ لِي «ادْعِ لِي زَوْجُكِ وَابْنَيْكِ» فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَطَعِمُوا وَتَحْتَهُمْ كِسَاءٌ خَيْبَرِيٌّ فَجَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْكِسَاءَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَحَامَتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا»  

[Machine] Fatimah set out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ calling him until he came. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered and I entered with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then called Hassan and Hussain and sat each of them on his thigh, and placed Fatimah closer to him than his own cloak. Then he covered them with his cloak while I was lying down. Then he said, "Indeed, Allah intends to keep away the impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification." Then he said, "These are my family, these are my family, they have more right (to my inheritance)." Wathilah said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not from your family?" He said, "And you are from my family." Wathilah said, "And indeed, he is one of the things I hope for."  

فَاطِمَةُ انْطَلَقْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُوهُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فَدَخَلَا فَدَخَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَأَجْلَسَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فَخِذِهِ وَأَدْنَى فَاطِمَةَ مِنْ حِجْرِهِ ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمَا ثَوْبَهُ وَأَنَا مُسْنِدٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي أَحَقُّ» قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِكَ؟ قَالَ «وَأَنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِي» قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَرْجَى مَا أَرْجُوهُ  

[Machine] "In my house, the verse {Indeed, Allah intends to repel from you the impurity, O people of the [Prophet's] household, and purify you with [extensive] purification} [Al-Ahzab 33] was revealed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to Fatimah, Ali, Hasan, and Husayn and said, 'These are the people of my household.' In the narration of Al-Qadi and As-Sulami, it is stated, 'These are my family.' I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, am I not from the people of the household?' He replied, 'Yes, by the will of Allah, the Almighty.' Abu Abdullah said, 'This is an authentic hadith with a reliable chain of narrators.' The Shaykh said, 'It has also been narrated in its supporting evidence and there are no comparable hadiths. And in the book of Allah is the explanation of what we intended regarding the inclusiveness of the Prophet's ﷺ family, whether referring to his wives or those included within them."  

فِي بَيْتِي أُنْزِلَتْ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33] قَالَتْ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ وَعَلِيٍّ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ فَقَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَفِي حَدِيثِ الْقَاضِي وَالسُّلَمِيِّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمَا أَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ؟ قَالَ بَلَى إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ سَنَدُهُ ثِقَاتٌ رُوَاتُهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِي شَوَاهِدِهِ ثُمَّ فِي مُعَارَضَتِهِ أَحَادِيثُ لَا يَثْبُتُ مِثْلُهَا وَفِي كِتَابِ اللهِ الْبَيَانُ لِمَا قَصَدْنَاهُ فِي إِطْلَاقِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْآلَ وَمُرَادُهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَزْوَاجُهُ أَوْ هُنَّ دَاخِلَاتٌ فِيهِ  

[Machine] I went to Fatimah to ask her about Ali, and she said, "He has gone to the Messenger of God ﷺ." Then the Messenger of God ﷺ came with Ali, Hasan, and Husayn, each holding his hand, and entered. He brought Ali and Fatimah close and seated them in front of him, and seated Hasan and Husayn each on one of his thighs. Then he wrapped them with his cloak and recited this verse: "God only desires to remove any impurity from you, O People of the Household, and to purify you thoroughly." Then he said, "O God, these are the members of my household, and my household is more deserving." I said, "O Messenger of God, am I also among your household?" He replied, "And you are among my household." Wathilah said, "This is one of the most hopeful things I hope for."  

أتَيْتُ فَاطِمَةَ أسْألُهَا عَنْ عَلِىٍّ فَقَالَتْ: تَوَجَّهَ إلى رَسُولِ الله ﷺ فَجَلَسَ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ وَمَعَهُ عَلِىٌّ وَحَسَنٌ وَحُسَيْنٌ كُل وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ بِيَدِهِ حَتَّى دَخَلَ فَأدْنَى عَلِيّا وَفَاطِمَةَ فَأجْلَسَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَأَجْلَسَ حَسنًا وَحُسَيْنًا كُل وَاحِد مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فخِذهِ، ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبَهُ أَوْ قَالَ كسَاءَهُ، ثُمَّ تَلَا هذِهِ الآيَةَ: {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا}، ثُمَ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَ هَؤُلَاءِ أهْلُ بَيتُى، وَأهْلُ بَيْتِى أحَق، فَقُلتُ يَا رَسُولَ الله: وَأنَا مِنْ أهْلِ بَيْتِكَ؟ قَالَ: وَأنْتَ مِنْ أهْلِى، قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ: إِنَهَا لَمِنْ أرْجَى مَا أرْجُو".  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ took a garment and placed it over Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn. Then he recited this verse: 'Indeed, Allah desires to repel impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَخَذَ ثَوْبًا فَجَلَّلَهُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا}  

[Machine] I heard Abu Al-Hamraa saying, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming to the house of Ali and Fatimah six months after their marriage, and he would say, 'Indeed, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you thoroughly.'"  

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَمْرَاءِ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِي بَابَ عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ فَيَقُولُ «إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا»  

[Machine] I heard Abu Al-Hamra'a saying: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming to the door of Fatimah for six months, saying, "Indeed, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification."  

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِي بَابَ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ فَيَقُولُ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا}  

[Machine] About the incident when they insulted me in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn came on a certain day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw his garment over them and said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household. O Allah, remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, and am I included?" He said, "By Allah, indeed you are included. This is the most trustworthy act in myself."  

إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ عِنْدَ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ إِذْ ذَكَرُوا عَلِيًّا فَشَتَمُوهُ فَلَمَّا قَامُوا قَالَ اجْلِسْ حَتَّى أُخْبِرَكَ عَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي شَتَمُوا إِنِّي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِذْ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ وَفَاطِمَةُ وَالْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ فَأَلْقَى عَلَيْهِمْ كِسَاءً لَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا قَالَ «وَأَنْتَ» قَالَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّهَا لَأَوْثَقُ عَمَلِي فِي نَفْسِي  

[Machine] Regarding what they insulted me about, I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a certain day when Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn came. He threw his cloak over them and said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household. O Allah, remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly." So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about me?" He said, "And you." He said, "By Allah, it is indeed the most steadfast action in myself."  

إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ عِنْدَ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ إِذْ ذَكَرُوا عَلِيًّا ؓ فَشَتَمُوهُ فَلَمَّا قَامُوا قَالَ اجْلِسْ حَتَّى أُخْبِرَكَ عَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي شَتَمُوا إِنِّي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِذْ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ وَفَاطِمَةُ وَالْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ ؓ فَأَلْقَى عَلَيْهِمْ كِسَاءً لَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا؟ قَالَ «وَأَنْتَ» قَالَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّهَا لَأَوْثَقُ عَمَلٍ فِي نَفْسِي  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , brought together Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and then he brought them under his cloak. Then he said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household." Umm Salamah said, "I said, O Messenger of Allah, include me with them." He said, "Indeed, you are among my family."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَمَعَ فَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا ؓ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَهُمْ تَحْتَ ثَوْبِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي» قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَدْخِلْنِي مَعَهُمْ قَالَ «إِنَّكِ مِنْ أَهْلِي»  

[Machine] "I came to seek Ali, but I did not find him, so Fatimah said: 'Go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and call him.' So, I went, along with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Hasan and Husayn and made each of them sit on his lap, and Fatimah sat closest to him, along with her husband. Then, he wrapped his cloak over them, and I was left out. Then, he recited the verse: 'Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity, O people of the household, and to purify you with thorough purification.' (Quran 33:33). I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of your household?' He replied, 'You are indeed one of my household.' Wathilah said, 'It is the most hopeful thing I hope for.' And it was narrated to us by Abu Abdullah As-Susi, who narrated to us Abu Al-Abbas, who told us Rabee'ah Ibn Sulaiman and Sa'id Ibn Uthman, who said: Bishr Ibn Bakr narrated to us from Al-Awza'i that Abu Ammar informed him, who said: Wathilah Ibn Al-Asqa' said, 'I went to Ali, but I did not find him.' Then, he mentioned the hadith in a similar manner. This isnad (chain of narration) is authentic, and it is more specific to attributing this to Wathilah, rather than generalizing it to the entire Ummah (Muslim community). It seems as if Wathilah was being compared to those who deserved this title, not in the sense of actual realization. And Allah knows best."  

جِئْتُ أُرِيدُ عَلِيًّا ؓ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ ؓ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُوهُ فَاجْلِسْ قَالَ فَجَاءَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَا فَدَخَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا قَالَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَأَجْلَسَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى فَخِذِهِ وَأَدْنَى فَاطِمَةَ مِنْ حِجْرِهِ وَزَوْجَهَا ثُمَّ لَفَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَوْبَهُ وَأَنَا مُنْتَبِذٌ فَقَالَ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33] اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي اللهُمَّ أَهْلِي أَحَقُّ قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِكَ قَالَ وَأَنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِي قَالَ وَاثِلَةُ ؓ إِنَّهَا لِمَنْ أَرْجَى مَا أَرْجُو

2871 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ السُّوسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَا ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي وَاثِلَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْقَعِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عَلِيًّا ؓ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِهِ هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ صَحِيحٌ وَهُوَ إِلَى تَخْصِيصِ وَاثِلَةَ بِذَلِكَ أَقْرَبُ مِنْ تَعْمِيمِ الْأُمَّةِ بِهِ وَكَأَنَّهُ جَعَلَ وَاثِلَةَ فِي حُكْمِ الْأَهْلِ تَشْبِيهًا بِمَنْ يَسْتَحِقُّ هَذَا الِاسْمَ لَا تَحْقِيقًا وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
