Ibn ʿUmar (while on a journey) used to offer the prayer and the witr on his mount (Rahila). He said that the Prophet ﷺ used to do so.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ
On traveling, ʿAbdullah bin ʿUmar used to offer the prayer on his Mount by signs whatever direction it took. ʿAbdullah said that the Prophet ﷺ used to do so.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ
Narrated Nafi', 'Whenever Ibn 'Umar finished his morning Salat at Dhul-Hulaifa he would get his Rahila (mount) prepared. Then, he would ride on it, and after it had stood up straight (ready to set out), he would face Al-Qiblah (the Ka,bah at Makkah) while sitting (on his mount) and recite Talbiya. When he had reached the boundaries of the Haram (or Makkah), he would stop recitation of Talbiya till he reached Dhi-Tuwa (near Makkah) where he would pass the night till it was dawn. After offering the morning Salat, he would take a bath. He claimed that Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done the same.

Nafi' reported that Ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with them) did not enter Mecca without spending the night at Dhi Tawu until it was dawn, when he took a bath, and then entered Mecca in the morning, and made a mention that Allah's Apostle ﷺ did that.
"Sa'eed bin Jubair led us in prayer in Jam'. (He prayed) Maghrib, three Rak'ahs with an Iqamah, then he prayed 'Isha', two Rak'ahs. Then he mentioned that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar had done that, and he mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done that."
