13. Anonymous of the Companions (13/19)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ honored the companions of Uhud and mentioned the meaning of the hadith of Yazid.
[Machine] "Abdullah ibn Tha'labah ibn Suayr al-'Udhri delivered a sermon of the Prophet ﷺ to the people two days before the end of Ramadan. He said, 'Give a sa' of barley or wheat between two people, or a sa' of dates, or a sa' of barley as provisions for every free person, servant, young, and old.'"
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Give a saa' of wheat or a saa' of barley and Hammad doubted concerning every two small or large, male or female, free or slave, rich or poor. As for your rich, Allah purifies him, and as for your poor, He will give him back more than what he gives."
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Tha'labah informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiped his face and said that he saw Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas offering only one additional unit of prayer, without increasing it, until he stood up from the middle of the night.
[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had wiped his face at the time of Fatḥ (the Conquest).
[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah had wiped his face during the time of the conquest (of Mecca), when he saw Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas. Sa'd had witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He used to perform one Rak'a after the Isha prayer, meaning Taraweeh, without exceeding it until he stood up from the middle of the night.
[Machine] From some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ from the Ansar, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ confirmed her (i.e. a woman) on what she was upon during the pre-Islamic era and ruled by her when some of the Ansar disputed regarding a killing they claimed against the Jews.
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Tha'labah ibn Su'ayr al-'Udhri narrated that the Prophet ﷺ wiped his face with his hand, and his companions who were with him conveyed this. They used to forbid me from facing the qiblah (direction of prayer) out of fear that I would get close to it more than necessary. However, the Muslims nowadays still prohibit it and say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a level of protection from Allah that no one else had.
13.60 [Machine] Ubaidullah bin Adi al-Ansari
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came into a gathering and a man seeked his permission to kill a hypocrite. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ loudly said, "Is he not a witness that there is no god but Allah?" The Ansaari man replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, but his testimony is not accepted." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Is he not a witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" The Ansaari man replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, but his testimony is not accepted." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Does he not pray?" The Ansaari man replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, but his prayer is not accepted." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "They are the ones whom Allah has forbidden me from granting permission for them."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting when a man came to him, and he meant to seek permission to consult with him, so he mentioned the purpose implicitly.
13.61 [Machine] Umar ibn Thabit al-Ansari on some companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
[Machine] He informed some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on that day to people while warning them about the trial of the Dajjal, "You should know that none of you will see his Lord until he dies, and it is written between his eyes 'disbeliever,' which anyone who dislikes his actions can read."
13.62 [Machine] Al-Musayyib bin Hazen
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to his great-grandfather Sa'id, "What is your name?" He replied, "Hazn (Sadness)." The Prophet ﷺ said, "No, you are Sa'il (Easy/Facile)." He said, "I do not change a name that my father has given me." Ibn Al-Musayyib said, "So, there remained a sadness among us thereafter."
When Abu Talib was in his death bed, the Prophet ﷺ went to him while Abu Jahl was sitting beside him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O my uncle! Say: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, an expression I will defend your case with, before Allah." Abu Jahl and ʿAbdullah bin Umaiya said, "O Abu Talib! Will you leave the religion of ʿAbdul Muttalib?" So they kept on saying this to him so that the last statement he said to them (before he died) was: "I am on the religion of ʿAbdul Muttalib." Then the Prophet said, " I will keep on asking for Allah's Forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden to do so." Then the following Verse was revealed:-- "It is not fitting for the Prophet ﷺ and the believers to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the pagans, even if they were their near relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire." (9.113) The other Verse was also revealed:-- "(O Prophet!) Verily, you guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He will ......." (28.56) (Using translation from Bukhārī 3884)
[Machine] My father was among those who pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ under the tree during the Pledge of Ridwan. He said, "We set out in Qabil with pilgrims and its place became unknown to us. If it becomes clear to you, then you are better informed."
[Machine] "That year, he was with them, so they forgot about it the following year."
13.63 [Machine] Haritha bin Al Nu'man
[Machine] I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Jibreel (Gabriel) was sitting with him in the gathering. I greeted him and then I sat down. When I returned and the Prophet ﷺ left, he asked, "Did you see the one who was with me?" I said, "Yes." He said, "It was Jibreel and he returned your greeting."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "One of you should take his sick camel and attend the prayer in congregation. If it becomes difficult for him due to his sick camel, he should say, 'If I had sought a place for my sick camel, it would have been better than this,' and he should then leave and only attend the Friday prayer. If it becomes difficult for him due to his sick camel, he should say, 'If I had sought a place for my sick camel, it would have been better than this,' and he should then leave and not attend the Friday prayer or the congregational prayer, and this will be sealed on his heart."
13.64 [Machine] Ka'ab bin Asim Al-Ash'ari
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say; 'It is not righteousness to fast when traveling."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2255)
"It is not righteousness to fast when traveling." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2261)
"It is not righteousness to fast when traveling." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2261)
13.65 [Machine] A man from the Ansar
[Machine] "He (the Prophet) kissed his wife while he was fasting, so his wife asked the Prophet ﷺ about it. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'The Messenger of Allah used to do this.' His wife informed him of this, so he said, 'Indeed, the Prophet is permitted to do certain things, so go back to him and tell him.' So she returned to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'He said that the Prophet ﷺ is permitted to do certain things.' He (the Prophet) said, 'I am the most God-fearing among you and have the most knowledge of the limits set by Allah.'"
13.66 [Machine] A Man Among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ
[Machine] We entered upon a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and said to him, "Tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and do not tell us what you heard from people." They said, "He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us and said: 'I warn you against the Antichrist, I warn you against the Antichrist, he is a man with one eye, his eye is wiped (or greenish). Ibn 'Awn said: I think he said: 'The Antichrist will stay on earth for forty mornings, with mountains of bread and rivers of water, and his authority will reach every spring. He will not enter four mosques: he mentioned the Sacred Mosque, Al-Aqsa Mosque, Tur, and Al-Madinah, except for what is destined for him by Allah.' So know that Allah is not one-eyed, Allah is not one-eyed, Allah is not one-eyed.' Ibn 'Awn said: And I think in his narration he said: 'He will have control over a man from among the people, he will kill him and then revive him, but he will not have control over anyone else."
[Machine] He said, "I went to a man from the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , and said to him: Tell me a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , about the Dajjal (the false messiah). And do not tell me about others, even if you have a reliable source." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say: I have warned you about the trial of the Dajjal. There is no prophet who did not warn his people or his nation about him. He is a curly-haired man, blind in his left eye. He will bring rain, but he will not make the trees grow. He will have control over a person and kill him, then bring him back to life. He will not have control over anyone else. He will have with him Paradise, Hellfire, a river, and water. He will have a mountain of bread. His Paradise will be Hellfire, and his Hellfire will be Paradise. He will stay among you for forty mornings, during which every spring except for four mosques will be visited by him: the Sacred Mosque (in Mecca), the Mosque of Medina, Mount Sinai, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque (in Jerusalem). If he appears while I am among you, or if you are doubtful about him, then remember that Allah is not one-eyed."

[Machine] "I went with a man from the Ansar to a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and we said to him, 'Tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the Dajjal, and do not tell us about anything else, even if it is true.' He said, 'The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon to us and said, "I have warned you about the Dajjal. There was no prophet before me who did not warn his nation about him. Indeed, he is among you, O Ummah. He is curly-haired, with a bright left eye that is blind. With him, there is Paradise and Hell, and his Hell is Paradise and his Paradise is Hell. He has a mountain of bread and a river of water. He can make rainfall, but he cannot make plants grow. He has power over one's life and can kill him, but he does not have power over others. He will stay on Earth for forty mornings, during which he will reach every watering hole. He will not approach four mosques: the Sacred Mosque, the Mosque of Madinah, the Mosque of Mount Sinai, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He will have a resemblance, but your Lord is not one-eyed."'"

13.67 [Machine] A Man from Bani Ghifar
[Machine] "A man called Hurayth was sent to him, and when he arrived, he said, 'O nephew! Make room for him between you and me, as he has accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' So he came and sat between me and him. Hurayth said to him, 'Tell me the hadith that you narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' The sheikh said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Verily, Allah creates the clouds and makes them speak with the most articulate speech and laugh with the best laughter.'"

[Machine] A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited excessive speech. Al-Awza'i said: "Excessive speech refers to going beyond the limits in matters and their branches"
The Holy Prophet ﷺ forbade the discussion of thorny questions. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3656)
13.68 [Machine] Muhaisa bin Mas'ud
[Machine] It is said that he is called Nafi' Abu Tayyibah, so he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ask him about his share. He said to him, "Do not approach him." He insisted and repeated his request to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he said, "Feed him to the hungry and put him in his stomach."
Muhayyisah asked permission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding hire of the cupper, but he forbade him. He kept on asking his permission, and at last he said to him: Feed your watering camel with it and feed your slave with it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3422)
[Machine] "A camel entered a garden and caused damage in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ decreed that the owners of the gardens should protect them during the day, and that whoever causes damage to livestock at night should be held accountable by their owners."
[Machine] He is called Abu Tayyibah, earning much profit. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited cupping as a profession, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made it easy for him. But he persisted and continued to ask him about it, mentioning his need, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Let your earnings be thrown into the belly of your leech."
[Machine] "Muhayyisah asked the Prophet ﷺ about earning money as a cupper. He forbade her from it, but she continued talking to him about it until he said, 'Employ him and give him provisions.'
The she-camel of Bara' ibn Azib entered the garden of a man and did damage to it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave decision that the owners of properties are responsible for guarding them by day, and the owners of animals are responsible for guarding them by night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3569)
[Machine] He had a young apprentice who mentioned the story.
[Machine] "He asked the Prophet ﷺ about the profession of cupping. He prohibited him from it. He asked him again and he prohibited him again. Then he mentioned his need and the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Shave your hair and feed the poor.'"

his father asked the Prophet ﷺ about the earnings of a cupper and he forbade him from that. Then he mentioned his need and he said: "Spend it on feeding your she-camels that draw water." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2166)
[Machine] It is said that there was a person called "Muhyisah" who had a servant boy who was a barber. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ admonished him for his earnings, so he said, "Should I not feed him from my own provision?" He replied, "No." He then asked, "Should I not donate him in charity?" He replied, "No." So he allowed him to use his razor to provide for himself.
13.69 [Machine] Salma bin Sakhr Al-Bayadi
[Machine] I used to suffer from something that no one else suffered from, from women. He said, "When the month of Ramadan came, I became afraid and accused my wife of adultery in the month." He said, "While she was serving me one night, something was revealed to me from her, and I did not hesitate to take action against her. So I came to the Messenger of Allah and informed him. He said, "Set free a slave." I said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not possess a slave except for my own." He said, "Then fast for two consecutive months." I said, "Did what happened to me only happen due to fasting?" He said, "Then feed sixty poor people."

13.70 [Machine] Rifa'a bin Shaddad about Amr bin Al-Hamaq.
[Machine] "I stood on top of Al-Mukhtar, but when his lying became clear to me, I intended by Allah to draw my sword and strike his neck until I remembered a hadith narrated to me by 'Amr ibn Al-Hamiq, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever believes in a man and then kills him, he will be given the banner of betrayal on the Day of Judgment.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever guarantees the safety of a believer's life, then kills him, I am innocent of his blood."
"I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 316)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to accept gifts and did not accept charity. Abdullah said: Ali ibn Hakim narrated to us, Shurayk informed us from Ubayd al-Muktib through his chain of narration similar to it.
[Machine] A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrated that a man said, "Indeed, I see your companion teaching you how to make the call of nature. He even teaches you when one of you goes to answer the call of nature." I said, "Yes, of course. Even if you were to make fun of it, he would still teach us how one of us should go to answer the call of nature. And indeed, he prohibits us from facing the Qibla while urinating or defecating, and from turning our backs towards it. He also advises us not to clean ourselves with bones or dung, and to perform istinja (cleaning oneself after using the toilet) with less than three stones."
[Machine] Huzaifah was in Al-Madina, and he used to mention things that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said. So Huzaifah came to Salman and said, "O Salman, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to get angry and then pleased, and he said, 'Whichever man from my Ummah I insulted or cursed in my anger, then I am just a descendant of Adam who gets angry just as they get angry. Indeed, Allah sent me as a mercy to the worlds, so make it a means of supplication for him on the Day of Judgment.'"

[Machine] "I was with Salman al-Farsi under a tree, and he took a dry branch from it and shook it until its leaves fell. Then he said, 'O Abu Uthman, don't you ask me why I did this?' I said, 'Why did you do it?' He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did the same thing to me when I was with him under a tree, taking a dry branch and shaking it until its leaves fell. Then he said, 'O Salman, don't you ask me why I did this?' I said, 'Why did you do it?' He said, 'Indeed, when a Muslim performs ablution and perfects it, then prays the five daily prayers, his sins are shaken off like these leaves.' And he recited: 'And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.' [Hud: 114]"

I see that your friend even teaches you about the excrement. He replied; Yes, he has in fact forbidden us that anyone amongst us should cleanse himself with his right hand, or face the Qibla. He has forbidden the use of dung or bone for it, and he has also instructed us not to use less than three pebbles (for this purpose). (Using translation from Muslim 262b)

[Machine] "A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ taught you all this, so he mentioned the narration."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Let no man bath on the day of Friday and purify himself to the best of his ability, anoint himself with his perfume or touch something fragrant in his house, then goes to the mosque without separating between two people, then he prays what Allah has prescribed for him, then he listens attentively to the Imam when he speaks, except that all his sins between then and the next Friday will be forgiven."
[Machine] And he said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a covenant with us, and we left what he commanded us, that the tongue of any of us in this world be like the provision of a traveler." He said, "Then we looked at what he left behind, and it turned out to be the value of what he left behind was twenty-two dirhams or thirty-two dirhams."
