ahmad:23665 – ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith > Qaraʾah ʿAlay Yūnus > Ibn Shihāb

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Tha'labah informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiped his face and said that he saw Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas offering only one additional unit of prayer, without increasing it, until he stood up from the middle of the night.  

أحمد:٢٣٦٦٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ قَرَأَهُ عَلَيَّ يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ

أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ يُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَاحَتَّى يَقُومَ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ

whose eye Messenger of Allah ﷺ had touched, that he had seen Saʿd bin Abi Waqqas offering one rakʿa only for the witr prayer.  

البخاري:٦٣٥٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ

أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ صُعَيْرٍ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ مَسَحَ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ يُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ  

ahmad:23667 – Abū al-Yamān > Shuʿayb > al-Zuhriyyiḥaddathanī ʿAbdullāh b. Thaʿlabah b. Ṣuʿayr al-ʿUdhrī

[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah had wiped his face during the time of the conquest (of Mecca), when he saw Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas. Sa'd had witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He used to perform one Rak'a after the Isha prayer, meaning Taraweeh, without exceeding it until he stood up from the middle of the night.  

أحمد:٢٣٦٦٧ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ صُعَيْرٍ الْعُذْرِيُّ قَالَ

وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ زَمَنَ الْفَتْحِ أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ كَانَ سَعْدٌ قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ يَعْنِي الْعَتَمَةَ لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى يَقُومَ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ
