13. Anonymous of the Companions (12/19)
The Prophet ﷺ talked about a man leveling the earth on prostrating, and said, "If you have to do so, then do it once." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1207)
13.45 [Machine] A person from the Bani Salama tribe.
[Machine] From a group of Bani Salimah, they said: The Prophet ﷺ was sitting and tore his garment. He said, "I have prepared a gift that will be given today."
13.46 [Machine] The heading "طخفة الغفاري" translates to "The Ghaffari Twist.
[Machine] He (the narrator) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spent the night with some people. He (the narrator) said: So we stayed with him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out during the night, looking and saw him lying on his face. So he kicked him with his foot, waking him up, and said: "This is the lying position of the people of Hellfire."
[Machine] I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in visiting those who hosted the poor. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out at night to serve his guest, and I saw him lying on his stomach. He kicked me with his foot and said, "Do not lie in this position, for it is a sleeping position that Allah dislikes."
[Machine] When the guests increased in number, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "Everyone should leave with his guest." So, when on a certain night two guests gathered with him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Everyone should leave with his companion." I was one of those who left with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When he entered, he said, "O Aisha, is there anything?" She replied, "Yes, Huwaytah. I prepared it for your breakfast." He then brought it in a container and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate some of it. Then he said, "Say Bismillah (in the name of Allah) and we all ate from it until there was nothing left. Then he asked, "Do you have any drink?" She replied, "Yes, Lubaynah. I prepared it for you." He said, "Bring it." She brought it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank some of it. He then said, "Say Bismillah (in the name of Allah)" and we all drank from it until there was nothing left. Then we left and went to the mosque. I laid on my face, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and began waking the people for prayer. Whenever he left for the prayer, he would wake the people for prayer. He passed by me while I was on my face and asked, "Who is this?" I replied, "I am Abdullah ibn Tahaftah." He said, "Indeed, this is a position that Allah dislikes."

[Machine] Yaa'ishah, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , narrated that Ya'eesh ibn Tikhfah al-Ghifari said, "My father was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ who were ordered by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to accompany him. The men would take turns walking with him, until there were only five of us left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Go on ahead.' So we went with him to the house of Aa'ishah, and he said to her, 'Feed us.' So she brought a dish of dates, and we ate. Then she brought a dish of barley, similar to a qata'ah, and we ate. Then he said to her, 'Give us something to drink.' So she brought a cup of water and we drank. Then she brought a small jug of milk, and we drank from it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If you wish, you may stay here and rest, or if you wish, you may go to the mosque.' We said, 'Rather, we will go to the mosque.' So while I was lying down in the mosque on my stomach, a man came and poked me with his foot. He said, 'This is a position that Allah hates.' So I looked and saw that it was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
[Machine] From his father, his father being from the people of Sufah, he said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Fulan, take him with you and mention his meaning among us.'"
13.47 [Machine] Mahmoud bin Lubaid
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , heard about them and came to them and sat with them. He asked them, "Do you have anything better than what you came for?" They asked, "What is that?" He said, "I am the Messenger of Allah, sent to invite people to worship Allah alone, without associating anything with Him, and a book was revealed to me." Then he mentioned Islam and recited the Quran to them. Iyas bin Mu'adh, who was a young boy, said, "O people, by Allah, this is better than what you came for." Abu Haytham, Anas bin Rafe', took a handful of pebbles from the ground and hit Iyas bin Mu'adh in the face with them. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , got up and left, and they returned to Madinah. This incident became known as the Bu'ath dispute between the Aws and Khazraj tribes. Iyas bin Mu'adh did not survive long after that. Mahmud bin Labid stated that those who were present with him when he died attested that they heard him continuously saying Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah, and SubhanAllah until he died. They had no doubt that he died as a Muslim. Indeed, he had embraced Islam in that gathering when he heard from the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ .
Mahmud bin Rabi' remembered that the Prophet spat into a bucket from a well that belonged to them. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 660)
[Machine] Someone told me that they saw the Prophet ﷺ at the olive press, making supplication in this way and indicating with the palms of his hands towards his face.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah protects His believing servant from the dunya while He loves him, just as you protect your patient from food and drink, fearing harm upon him."
[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, when Allah loves a group of people, He tests them. So whoever is patient, Allah grants them patience, and whoever becomes agitated, Allah grants them agitation."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and prayed the Maghrib prayer in our mosque. After he finished, he said, "Pray these two units of prayer in your homes for the purpose of glorifying Allah, after Maghrib."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "There are two things that the son of Adam hates: death and death is better for the believer than tribulation. And he hates little wealth, but little wealth is easier to account for."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Indeed, Allah protects His believing servant in this world, while He loves him, just as you protect your patient's food and drink out of fear for him."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with the Bani Abd al-Ashhal and performed the Maghrib prayer with them. When he finished, he said, "Bow for these two units of prayer in your homes." Abu Abdur-Rahman said, "I said to my father, 'Indeed, someone said that whoever prays two units of prayer after Maghrib in the mosque will not be rewarded unless he prays them in his home, because the Prophet ﷺ said, 'These are from the prayers of the homes.''" He asked, "Who said this?" I replied, "Muhammad bin Abdur-Rahman." He said, "How good is what he said, or how good is what he took?"
[Machine] "The sun darkened on the day when Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , died. People said that the sun darkened because of Ibrahim's death. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. Know that they do not darken for the death or life of anyone. So when you see them as such, hasten to the mosques.' Then he stood up and recited what we can see as, '{Alif, Lam, Ra. (This is) a Book [the Quran] which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy}' (Ibrahim 1). Then he performed a bow, straightened, prostrated twice, and then stood up and did the same as he did before."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, the thing I fear the most for you is minor shirk (associating partners with Allah)." They asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is minor shirk?" He said: "It is showing off. On the Day of Judgment, when people are rewarded for their deeds, Allah will say to them: 'Go to those whom you used to show off to in the world and see if you can find any reward with them.'"
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, the thing that I fear most for you is to associate partners with Allah (committing shirk), and he mentioned its meaning."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah protects His servant in this world when He loves him, just as you protect the sick by being cautious with their food and drink for fear of harming them."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "When Allah loves a people, He tests them. So whoever remains patient, they will have patience, and whoever becomes impatient, they will have impatience."
[Machine] He was resistant to Islam among his people. But when the day of Uhud came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Uhud, Islam appeared to him and he embraced Islam. He took his sword and set out until he came to his people. He entered the front lines and fought until his wounds became severe. He said, "While the men of Banu Abd al-Ashhal were seeking to kill them in battle, they found him. They said, 'By Allah, this is Al-Asyiram and he has come! We left him and indeed he rejected this matter (Islam).' They asked him, 'What brought you here, O Amr? Did you come willingly to fight against your people or did you come out of desire for Islam?' He replied, 'No, it is out of a desire for Islam. I believed in Allah and His Messenger and I embraced Islam. Then I took my sword and set out with the Messenger of Allah and fought until I received what I received.' He said, 'Then he did not live long and died in their hands.' They mentioned him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he said, 'Indeed, he is among the people of Paradise.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Embark on the Fajr prayer, for it is the greatest in reward."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, what I fear the most for you is the minor shirk." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the minor shirk?" He said: "Showing off.
I remember Messenger of Allah ﷺ and also the mouthful of water which he took from a bucket in our house and ejected (on me). I heard from ʿItban bin Malik Al-Ansari, who was one from Bani Salim, saying, "I used to lead my tribe of Bani Salim in prayer. Once I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said to him, 'I have weak eyesight and at times the rainwater flood intervenes between me and the mosque of my tribe and I wish that you would come to my house and pray at some place so that I could take that place as a place for praying (mosque). He said, "Allah willing, I shall do that." Next day Messenger of Allah ﷺ along with Abu Bakr, came to my house after the sun had risen high and he asked permission to enter. I gave him permission, but he didn't sit till he said to me, "Where do you want me to pray in your house?" I pointed to a place in the house where I wanted him to pray. So he stood up for the prayer and we aligned behind him. He completed the prayer with Taslim and we did the same simultaneously." (Using translation from Bukhārī 839)
