I heard ʿUmar bin ʿAbdul-Aziz asking As-Sa'ib, the nephew of An-Nimr. "What have you heard about residing in Mecca?" The other said, "I heard Al-Ala bin Al-Hadrami saying, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: An Emigrant is allowed to stay in Mecca for three days after departing from Mina (i.e. after performing all the ceremonies of Hajj)"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلاَثٌ لِلْمُهَاجِرِ بَعْدَ الصَّدَرِ

There should be no estranged relations beyond three days.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ هِجْرَةَ بَعْدَ ثَلاَثٍ

Umar bin ‘Abd Al ‘Aziz asked Al Sa’ib bin Yazid “Did you hear anything relating to staying at Makkah(after the completion of the rites of Hajj)? He said “Ibn Al Hadrami told me that he heard the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ say “The Muhajirun(Immigrants) are allowed to stay at the Ka’bah (Makkah) for three days after the obligatory circumambulation (Tawaf Al Ziyarah or Sadr)”.

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِلْمُهَاجِرِينَ إِقَامَةٌ بَعْدَ الصَّدَرِ ثَلاَثًا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would give a third of the spoils after he would keep off the fifth.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُنَفِّلُ الثُّلُثَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to give a quarter of the booty as reward after the fifty had been kept off, and a third after the fifth had been kept off when he returned.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُنَفِّلُ الرُّبُعَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ وَالثُّلُثَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ إِذَا قَفَلَ

“I asked Sa’ib bin Yazid: ‘What have you heard about staying in Makkah?’ He said: ‘I heard ‘Ala’ bin Hadrami say: “The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Three (days) for the Muhajir after departing (from Mina).’”* * The meaning of it is: being hished from the rites (of Hajj).

سَمِعْتُ حَبِيبَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ يَقُولُ «شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَفَّلَ الثُّلُثَ»

«نَفَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الثُّلُثَ»

[AI] I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Perform the Nawafil (optional prayers) in the beginning of the journey a quarter (of the distance) and in the return (journey) a third (of the distance)."

شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «نَفَلَ فِي الْبَدْأَةِ الرُّبُعَ وَفِي الرَّجْعَةِ الثُّلُثَ»

It was narrated from ‘Ubadah bin Samit that the Prophet ﷺ awarded one quarter of the spoils to those who attacked the enemy at the beginning and one third to those who attacked at the end. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2852)

He then went to his mosque and led them in prayer. When the witr remained, he put forward another man and said: Lead your companions in the witr prayer, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: There are no two witrs during one night.
