[Machine] "And Mujahid said: '{So We strengthened them}', meaning we made them firm and resolute. '{Oh what a regret upon the servants}' refers to the regret felt towards them for mocking the messengers. '{To attain the moon}' refers to the impossibility of one of them blocking the light of the other, as it is not appropriate for them to do so. '{Proceeding of the day}' refers to the continuous running of both the sun and the moon. '{We alternate them}' means we take out one of them from the other, and each of them has its own course. '{Similar to it}' refers to the creation of animals. '{So they will be amazed}' means they will be astonished. '{An assembled army}' refers to the gathering for reckoning.

65.36.1 Allah's Statement: "And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All Mighty, the All-Knowing." (V.36:38)

٦٥۔٣٦۔١ باب قَوْلِهِ {وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا ذَلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ}

bukhari:4802Abū Nuʿaym > al-Aʿmash > Ibrāhīm al-Taymī from his father > Abū Dhar

Once I was with the Prophet ﷺ in the mosque at the time of sunset. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun sets?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "It goes and prostrates underneath (Allah's) Throne; and that is Allah's Statement:-- 'And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (decreed). And that is the decree of All-Mighty, the All-Knowing....' (36.38)

كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ عِنْدَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ أَتَدْرِي أَيْنَ تَغْرُبُ الشَّمْسُ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا تَذْهَبُ حَتَّى تَسْجُدَ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى {وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا ذَلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ}

bukhari:4803al-Ḥumaydī > Wakīʿ > al-Aʿmash > Ibrāhīm al-Taymī from his father > Abū Dhar

I asked the Prophet ﷺ about the Statement of Allah:-- 'And the sun runs on fixed course for a term (decreed), ' (36.38) He said, "Its course is underneath "Allah's Throne." (Prostration of Sun trees, stars. mentioned in Qur'an and Hadith does not mean like our prostration but it means that these objects are obedient to their Creator (Allah) and they obey for what they have been created for).
