40. Chapter
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited plundering and mutilating.
[Machine] A skilled boy from the writers, so Abu Mas'ud commanded and bought for his boys a canary with a dirham, but he disliked the looters.
“the letters k, f, r” (are on his forehead). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4317)
[Machine] "And Muhammad said, 'I have encountered righteous men who, when they are presented with musk, they reject it and dislike to scatter it.'"
Note: The translation is approximate, as the word "مُسَكَّرِ" can have different interpretations depending on the context.
[Machine] I was walking between Ibrahim and Al-Sha'bi, and they mentioned the sacrificial offering of a wedding. Ibrahim disliked it, but Al-Sha'bi did not dislike it. He said, "And I, Shu'bah, from Husein, from Ikrimah, that he disliked it. And it has been narrated in the permission (authorization) regarding it, narrations all of which are weak."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married some of his wives, and he was given dates by Al-Hasan bin 'Amr. He was the son of Saif Al-'Abdi and he was a Basri man who had strange qualities.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to scatter dates as a form of giving away when he would marry someone or someone would get married. Asim bin Sulayman Basri, who was known for spreading lies, falsely attributed it to the Prophet's saying.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ informed a man from his companions about the blessings of intimacy, secure travel, and abundance in sustenance. He said, "May Allah bless you, tap on his head." So, they brought a tambourine and placed dishes filled with fruits and sweets upon it. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Play." The man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, haven't you forbidden us from using tambourines?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I only forbade you from using tambourines at the time of warriors. As for weddings, it is allowed." The Prophet ﷺ then swayed to the rhythm of the tambourine, and they swayed with him. In the chain of narrators, there are missing names and disruptions, and it has also been narrated with an unidentified chain of narrators from Uroah from Aisha, from Muadh bin Jabal. Nothing can be established in this matter, and Allah knows best.
The Prophet ﷺ said: The greatest day in Allah's sight is the day of sacrifice and next the day of resting which Isa said on the authority of Thawr is the second day. Five or six sacrificial camels were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and they began to draw near to see which he would sacrifice first. When they fell down dead, he said something in a low voice, which I could not catch. So I asked: What did he say? He was told that he had said: Anyone who wants can cut off a piece. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1765)
