[Machine] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have given myself to you." So she stood up for a long time. Then a man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, marry her to me if you do not need her." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you have anything that you can give her as a dowry?" He said, "I only have my waistcloth." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "If you give it to her, you will have to sit without a waistcloth. So seek something else." He said, "I cannot find anything." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Seek something, even if it is an iron ring." So he searched but did not find anything. Then the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Do you have anything from the Quran?" He said, "Yes, I have Surah So-and-So and Surah So-and-So." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have married her to you with what you have from the Quran."
[Machine] To teach her the Qur'an which was then conveyed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he approved it. It was narrated by Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna from Abdus Samad, except that he said something from the Qur'an, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ approved it. Abu Sa'd al-Malini informed us, Abu Ahmad ibn Adi narrated, from al-Saji, from Ibn al-Muthanna, from Abdus Samad, and he mentioned it.
[Machine] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is your opinion on a woman to whom a man proposes marriage but she does not know anything from the Quran?" He asked her, "Does she read anything from the Quran?" She replied, "Yes, Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Al-Mufassal." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have married her on the condition that she reads and teaches those Surahs. And if Allah blesses you with provision, compensate her." Abu Bakr ibn Al-Harith Al-Faqih informed us that Ali ibn Umar Abu Al-Hasan Al-Daraqutni Al-Hafiz narrated to us, who narrated from Abu Ubaid Al-Qasim ibn Ismail, who narrated from Qasim ibn Hashim Al-Simsar, who narrated from Utbah ibn Al-Sakan, who narrated from Al-Awza'i. Abu Al-Hasan mentioned that Utbah narrated this hadith exclusively, but he is unreliable in narrating hadiths. The sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "Utbah ibn Al-Sakan is attributed to a fabricated lineage, which is false and has no basis. And Allah knows best."
