40. Chapter
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ prohibited drinking while standing. Qatadah said, 'What about eating?' He replied, 'That is even more detestable and filthier, as it is not mentioned in Afnan's narration.'"
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ forbade drinking while standing.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "None of you should drink while standing. Whoever drinks while standing, should vomit."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the one who drinks while standing knew what is in his stomach, he would vomit it out like this, he would come out fully connected."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the one who drinks while standing knew what is in his stomach, he would vomit it out." He ﷺ said, "I am narrating this from Al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Huraira, from the Prophet ﷺ , similar to the narration of Al-Zuhri." He ﷺ said, "This reached Ali, so he called for water and drank it while standing." The sheikh said, "And this is the prohibition that we have mentioned in the narrations. It can either be a prohibition of detesting or a prohibition of forbidding, then it became abrogated."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , passed by Zamzam and asked for water, so I brought him a bucket of Zamzam water and he drank it while standing.
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drinking while standing from Zamzam. In another narration, Shadhan said, "I served the Prophet ﷺ Zamzam water, and he drank it while standing."
[Machine] Ali came with a jug to the open space and drank while standing. He said, "There were people who disliked someone to drink while standing. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing exactly what you saw me doing, and then he touched his face, hands, and feet. Then he said, 'This is ablution for the one who does not do anything that nullifies it.'"
[Machine] We used to drink and eat while standing up during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as we were working.
