[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to scatter dates as a form of giving away when he would marry someone or someone would get married. Asim bin Sulayman Basri, who was known for spreading lies, falsely attributed it to the Prophet's saying.  

البيهقي:١٤٦٨٣وَمِنْهَا مَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ السُّلَمِيُّ أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ كَعْبٍ أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ نا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى نا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ نا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا زَوَّجَ أَوْ تَزَوَّجَ نَثَرَ تَمْرًا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بَصْرِيٌّ رَمَاهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ بِالْكَذِبِ وَنَسَبَهُ إِلَى وَضْعِ الْحَدِيثِ
