“The Prophet ﷺ was performing prayer in the house of Umm Salamah, and ‘Abdullah or ‘Umar bin Abu Salamah passed in front of him; he gestured his hand, and he went back. Then Zainab bint Umm Salamah passed in front of him, and he gestured his hand, but she kept going. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he said: ‘These (women) are more stubborn.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 948)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to one of them, "Indeed, a housefly has entered upon me that has not entered upon me before her." He said to me, "Verily, your son, Hussain, will be killed. And if you wish, I can show you the soil of the earth by which he will be killed." So he took out a red soil.

ahmad:26525Yazīd b. Hārūn > Muḥammad / Ibn ʿAmr > Abū Salamah > Um Salamah > Ḥiḍt

[Machine] I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ while he was wearing his garment. He asked me, "Are you feeling shy?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have found what women find." He said, "That is what has been decreed for the daughters of Adam." I then left and corrected myself, seeking forgiveness with a garment. Then I came back and entered under his blanket with him."

ahmad:26526Yaḥyá b. Isḥāq > Layth b. Saʿd > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Mulaykah > Yaʿlá b. Mamlak

[Machine] I asked Umm Salamah about the night prayer and the recitation of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said, "What is it to you about his prayer and his recitation? He used to pray as much as he sleeps, and he used to sleep as much as he prays. And he used to recite with precision, every letter, clarifying its meaning."

[Machine] A woman from the Ansar told me today that if I wanted, she would introduce me to her. I said no, tell me what happened. She said, "I entered upon Umm Salamah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered while he seemed angry. So, I covered myself with my cloak. He spoke in a language that I didn't understand, so I said, 'O Mother of the Believers, it was as if I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entering while he was angry?' She said, 'Yes, did you not hear what he said?' I said, 'What did he say?' She said, 'He said that when evil spreads in the land and people do not prevent it, Allah sends His punishment upon the people of the earth.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, even if there are righteous people among them?' She said, 'Yes, there are righteous people among them. They will be afflicted with what the people are afflicted with, then Allah will gather them to His forgiveness and pleasure, or to His pleasure and forgiveness.'"

ahmad:26528Yazīd > Hishām b. Ḥassān > al-Ḥasan > Ḍabbah b. Muḥṣin > Um Salamah

In the near future there will be Amirs and you will like their good deeds and dislike their bad deeds. One who sees through their bad deeds (and tries to prevent their repetition by his band or through his speech), is absolved from blame, but one who hates their bad deeds (in the heart of his heart, being unable to prevent their recurrence by his hand or his tongue), is (also) fafe ( so far as God's wrath is concerned). But one who approves of their bad deeds and imitates them is spiritually ruined. People asked (the Holy Prophet): Shouldn't we fight against them? He replied: No, as long as they say their prayers. (Using translation from Muslim 1854a)

ahmad:26529Yazīd > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Thābit al-Bunānī > Ibn ʿUmar b. Abū Salamah Biminá from his father > Um Salamah

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a sermon to Umm Salamah and she said, "O messenger of Allah, none of my allies whether present or absent dislikes that." He said, "None of your allies whether present or absent dislike that." She said, "O Umar, marry the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ to me." So, the Prophet ﷺ married her to him and he said to her, "Indeed, I do not diminish from what I have given to your sisters, Ruqayyah and Um Kulthum, a quilt and a mattress from the wool of a sheep." So, the messenger of Allah ﷺ used to come to her to have intimacy with her, but when she saw him, she would take her daughter Zainab and put her in her chamber. So, the messenger of Allah ﷺ would leave. And Ammar bin Yasir knew this and he was her brother through breastfeeding, so he went to her and said, "Where is this scratched and pockmarked one with whom you have annoyed the messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" So, he took her and left with her. Then the messenger of Allah ﷺ came and entered upon her and he started to touch his face in different parts of the house and said, "What did Zanab do?" She said, "Ammar came and took her and left with her." So, the messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "If you wish, I will offer a dowry for you. And if you wish, I will divorce you for my wives."

ahmad:26530Muḥammad b. Abū ʿAdī > Muḥammad b. Isḥāq > Abū ʿUbaydah b. ʿAbdullāh b. Zamʿah from his father > Ummih Zaynab b. Abū Salamah > Um Salamah Yuḥaddithānih Dhalik Jamīʿ ʿAnhā

The night which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed with me was the one that followed the day of sacrifice. He came to me and Wahb ibn Zam'ah also visited me. A man belonging to the lineage of AbuUmayyah accompanied him. Both of them were wearing shirts. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Wahb: Did you perform the obligatory circumambulation (Tawaf az-Ziyarah), AbuAbdullah? He said: No, by Allah Messenger of Allah. He (the Prophet) said: Take off your shirt. He then took it off over his head, and his companion too took his shirt off over his head. He then asked: And why (this), Messenger of Allah? He replied: On this day you have been allowed to take off ihram when you have thrown the stones at the jamrahs, that is, everything prohibited during the state of ihram is lawful except intercourse with a woman. If the evening comes before you go round this House (the Ka'bah) you will remain in the sacred state (i.e. ihram), just like the state in which you were before you threw stones at the jamrahs, until you perform the circumambulation of it (i.e. the Ka'bah). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1999)

ahmad:26531Muḥammad

[Machine] "Abu Ubaydah told me that Umm Qais, the daughter of Mujhisn, who was their neighbor, said, 'Ukkashah ibn Mujhisn went out from me with a group of Banu Asad dressed in their ihram garments on the evening of the Day of Sacrifice. Then they returned to me in the evening carrying their ihram garments in their hands.' I asked, 'O Ukkashah, why did you go out dressed in your ihram garments and then return while carrying them in your hands?' He replied, 'O Umm Qais, this was a day that was made permissible for us. When we threw the pebbles, we were allowed to partake in all that was forbidden to us except for women. However, until we circumambulated the Kaaba, if we had not done so, we would have remained in a state of ihram and would not have been able to take off our garments. So, we became obliged to take off our garments before throwing the pebbles, and when we did not circumambulate, we returned to the state of ihram. Therefore, we wore our garments in the manner you see.'"

She said no, so I said, "Aisha informs people that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss while fasting." She said, "Perhaps he couldn't control his desire for her, but as for me, no."

[Machine] Fatimah came to the Prophet of Allah complaining to him about her household tasks. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, my hands have become blistered from grinding flour and kneading dough." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "If Allah blesses you with something, he will provide you with it. Let me guide you to something better than having a servant. When you go to bed, say 'Subhan Allah' (glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the greatest) thirty-three times, and 'Alhamdulillah' (all praise is due to Allah) thirty-four times. This equals one hundred, and it is better for you than having a servant. And when you perform the dawn prayer, say 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no god but Allah) alone without any partners. He has the sovereignty and all praise is due to him. He gives life and causes death, and in his hand is all good, and He is able to do all things. Say this ten times after the dawn prayer and ten times after the sunset prayer. For every one of these, ten good deeds will be written for you and ten sins will be erased. Each of these is equivalent to freeing a slave from the offspring of Ismael. And no sin that is committed on that day will be able to catch up with it, except if it is associating partners with Allah. He who says 'La ilaha illallah' alone without any partners will be protected by Allah from every devil and every harm, from the morning until the evening, and from the evening until the morning."

I replied, "Whatever you wish." So we visited Marwan, and among those present was Abdullah ibn Zubayr. They mentioned the two units of prayer that Ibn Zubayr used to perform after Asr prayer. Marwan asked him, "From whom did you learn these two units of prayer, O son of Zubayr?" He replied, "Abu Hurairah informed me of them, from Aisha." Marwan sent a message to Aisha, asking, "Do you know anything about the two units of prayer that Ibn Zubayr performs after Asr prayer, claiming that Abu Hurairah informed him of them from you?". Aisha sent back, saying, "May Allah forgive Aisha, as I have misplaced my matter. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Dhuhr and there was money that had come to him, so he sat down to distribute it until the Muadhin came to him for Asr prayer. He then prayed Asr and came to me. It happened to be my day, so he performed two light units of prayer. I then said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Were you commanded to perform these two units of prayer?' He replied, 'No, but these two units of prayer were the ones that I used to perform after Dhuhr, but the division of this money distracted me until the time for Asr arrived. I disliked abandoning them.' Ibn Zubayr said: 'Allah is Greater! Did he not perform them once?' By Allah! I will never abandon them." Umm Salamah remarked, "I never saw him performing these two units of prayer before or after this incident."

[Machine] "And the one whom I swear by, if there was anyone closest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it was Ali. She said, "We would always see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming day after day saying, 'Has Ali arrived?' repeatedly. She said, 'And I suspected that he had sent for him because he needed something.' She said, 'Then he would come after a while, and I would think that there was something he needed from him.' She said, 'So we left the house and sat by the door, and I was closest to the door, then Ali came and he would talk to him and have a private conversation with him.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away on that day, and he was the closest of people to him in his lifetime."
