[Machine] The Prophet passed by a sheep that belonged to Mawlaat Maymuna, which had been given to her as charity but had died. He said, "Why don't you take its skin and tan it so that you can benefit from it?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, it is dead." He said, "Only its consumption has been prohibited."  

مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِشَاةٍ لِمَوْلَاةٍ لِمَيْمُونَةَ قَدْ أُعْطِيَتْهَا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ مَيْتَةٍ فَقَالَ «أَلَا أَخَذُوا إِهَابَهَا فَدَبَغُوهُ فَانْتَفَعُوا بِهِ؟» فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ فَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ أَكْلُهَا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Did you tan its hide so that you could benefit from it?"  

النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «هَلَّا دَبَغْتُمْ إِهَابَهَا فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِهِ»  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that the dogs should be killed. (Using translation from Bukhārī 3323)  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out one day in a hurry, so I asked, "Why do I see you in a hurry?" He replied, "Gabriel promised me and he never breaks his promise." So, he spent his day and night like that. In the house, there was a dog under a raised bed. He took water in his hand and wiped the place where the dog had been. Then, Gabriel came and said, "We do not enter a house that contains a picture or a dog." He used to speak with the dog on the small wall, but he did not allow it inside.  

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَاتِرًا فَقُلْتُ مَا لِي أَرَاكَ فَاتِرًا فَقَالَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ وَعَدَنِي وَمَا أَخْلَفَنِي فَظَلَّ يَوْمَهُ كَذَلِكَ وَلَيْلَتَهُ وَفِي الْبَيْتِ كَلْبٌ تَحْتَ نَضَدٍ لَنَا فَأَخْرَجَ وَأَخَذَ مَاءً بِيَدِهِ فَمَسَحَ بِهِ مَكَانَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ إِنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ صُورَةٌ وَلَا كَلْبٌ وَكَانَ يُكَلَّمُ فِي كَلْبِ الْحَائِطِ الصَّغِيرِ فَمَا يَأْذَنُ فِيهِ  

The Prophet ﷺ and I used to take a bath from a single pot while we were Junub. During the menses, he used to order me to put on an Izar (dress worn below the waist) and used to fondle me. While in Iʿtikaf, he used to bring his head near me and I would wash it while I used to be in my periods (menses). (Using translation from Bukhārī 299)  

«كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ»  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Nothing makes water impure."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْمَاءُ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ»  

[Machine] "I prepared water for the Prophet ﷺ for him to perform ablution. He washed himself from ritual impurity, and I handed him the water container with my left hand while he used his right hand to pour water on it. He washed his hands, then he poured water on his private parts and washed them. After that, he wiped his hand on the ground, then he gargled and sniffed water into his nose. He washed his face and arms, then poured water on his head and the rest of his body. Finally, he moved aside and washed his feet." She said, "Then I brought him a garment, and he shook it off, saying that this is how the water is scattered."  

«وَضَعْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ غُسْلًا فَاغْتَسَلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَأَكْفَأَ الْإِنَاءَ بِشِمَالِهِ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ أَفَاضَ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ فَغَسَلَهُ ثُمَّ دَلَّكَ يَدَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَفَاضَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ أَفَاضَ عَلَى سَائِرِ جَسَدِهِ الْمَاءَ ثُمَّ تَنَحَّى فَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ» قَالَتْ «فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِثَوْبٍ فَرَمَى بِهِ وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ بِالْمَاءِ هَكَذَا يَنْفُضُ الْمَاءَ»  

[Machine] I took a ritual bath from impurity. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and took a bath by my merit. So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have already taken a bath from it." He said, "Truly, water does not become impure with impurity."  

اغْتَسَلَتُ مِنَ جَنَابَةٍ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاغْتَسَلَ بِفَضْلِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قَدِ اغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا جَنَابَةَ عَلَيْهِ»  

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Nothing makes water impure."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْمَاءُ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ»  

Ibn Abbas narrated It on the authority of Maimuna that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was given a towel, but he did not rub (his body) with it, but he did like this with water, i. e. he shook it off. (Using translation from Muslim 317c)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِمِنْدِيلٍ فَلَمْ يَمَسُّهُ وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ بِالْمَاءِ هَكَذَا» يَعْنِي يَنْفُضُهُ  

[Machine] Abu Al-Malih Al-Hudhali went out in a funeral. When the deceased was placed on the bed, he approached the people and said, "Straighten your rows and improve your intercession." Then Abu Al-Malih said, "Abdullah bin Salit informed me, and he was the brother of Maymunah, the mother of the believers, from Maymunah, from the Prophet ﷺ , who said, 'Whoever prays upon him, a nation will intercede for their brother.' And the nation is forty to one hundred, the group is ten to forty, and the individual is three to ten."  

أَنَّ أَبَا الْمَلِيحِ الْهُذَلِيَّ خَرَجَ فِي جِنَازَةٍ فَلَمَّا وُضِعَ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَأَحْسِنُوا شَفَاعَتَكُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلِيطٍ وَكَانَ أَخُو مَيْمُونَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةٌ شُفِّعُوا فِي أَخِيهِمْ» وَالْأُمَّةُ أَرْبَعُونَ إِلَى مِائَةٍ وَالْعُصْبَةُ عَشَرَةٌ إِلَى أَرْبَعِينَ وَالنَّفَرُ ثَلَاثَةٌ إِلَى عَشَرَةٍ  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Sisters are believers." It means Maymuna bint Al-Harith, and Umm Al-Fadl bint Al-Harith, and Salma the wife of Hamza, and Asma bint Umays.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْأَخَوَاتُ مُؤْمِنَاتٌ» يَعْنِي مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ وَأُمَّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ وسَلْمَى امْرَأَةَ حَمْزَةَ وَأَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ  

[Machine] Regarding the narration of Maymunah, they discussed the fasting of the Prophet (PBUH) on the day of Arafah. Maymunah then said, "I will send dates to you from him. If he breaks his fast, he will not leave them." So, Maymunah sent him a glass of milk which he drank while people watched.  

عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ أَنَّهُمْ تَمَارَوْا فِي صِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ سَأَبْعَثُ لَكُمْ إِلَيْهِ بِتَمَرَاتٍ إِنْ كَانَ مُفْطِرًا لَمْ يَدَعْهُ «فَبَعَثَتْ إِلَيْهِ بِقَدَحِ لَبَنٍ فَشَرِبَهُ وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ»  

[Machine] I prayed with my father, Al-Malih, at a funeral. He said, "Arrange your rows and improve your intercession; if I were to choose a man, I would choose him." Abdullah ibn Abi Salil narrated to us from one of the wives of the Prophet, Maymuna, and her brother was a foster sibling, that the Prophet, ﷺ , said, "There is no Muslim man whom a group of people pray for except that they intercede for him." Abu Al-Malih said, "The group is from forty to one hundred."  

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَقَالَ سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَلْتَحْسُنُ شَفَاعَتُكُمْ وَلَوْ خُيِّرْتُ رَجُلًا لَاخْتَرْتُهُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي السَّلِيلِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَيْمُونَةَ وَكَانَ أَخُوهَا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةٌ إِلَّا شُفِّعُوا فِيهِ» قَالَ أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ الْأُمَّةُ الْأَرْبَعُونَ إِلَى الْمِائَةِ  

[Machine] About Maymuna, and Yazid was an orphan in her room, he mentioned, "Other than you, the miswak is always in a container. If she is occupied with work or prayer, she takes the miswak and starts using it."  

عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ وَكَانَ يَزِيدُ يَتِيمًا فِي حِجْرِهَا فَذَكَرَ «أَنَّ سِوَاكًا لَا يَزَالُ فِي إِنَاءٍ فَإِنْ شَغَلَهَا عَمَلٌ أَوْ صَلَاةٌ وَإِلَّا أَخَذَتِ السِّوَاكَ فَاسْتَاكَتْ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ married me with a bridal gift, and we were lawful for each other.  

«تَزَوَّجَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِسَرِفٍ وَنَحْنُ حَلَالَانِ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ married her and it was permissible." And she was my aunt.  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَزَوَّجَهَا وَهُوَ حَلَالٌ» وَكَانَتْ خَالَتِي  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Maymuna while he was in a state of halal.  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَزَوَّجَ مَيْمُونَةَ وَهُوَ حَلَالٌ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to lean on his left thigh when he sat down.  

«كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا قَعَدَ اطْمَأَنَّ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى»  

[Machine] "A lizard was given to us, so I made it and presented it to them. Then two men from my people from the Quraysh entered and I served them with it. Then the Prophet ﷺ entered while they were eating, and he placed his hand and then lifted it and said, 'What is this?' I said, 'It is a lizard that was given to us, so I made it.' He then threw it away and they went to throw away what was in their hands. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, 'No, you are people of Najd, who eat it, while we are people of Tihamah and we detest it.'"  

أُهْدِيَ لَنَا ضَبٌّ فَصَنَعْتُهُ فَدَخَلَ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ قَوْمِي مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَأَتْحَفْتُهُمَا بِهِ فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهُمَا يَأْكُلَانِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا؟» قُلْتُ ضَبٌّ أُهْدِيَ لَنَا فَصَنَعْتُهُ فَطَرَحَهُ فَذَهَبَا لِيَطْرَحا مَا فِي أَيْدِيهِمَا فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كُلَا إِنَّكُمْ أَهْلَ نَجْدٍ تَأْكُلُونَهَا وَإِنَّا أَهْلَ تِهَامَةَ نَعَافُهَا»  

[Machine] Maymuna told me, "When one of us would menstruate, she would get up and when she wanted to return, her husband would cover her with a cloth and then engage in intercourse with her."  

حَدَّثَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ «كَانَتْ إِحْدَانَا إِذَا حَاضَتْ فَقَامَتْ فَأَرَادَتِ الرُّجُوعَ أَمَرَهَا فَاتَّزَرَتْ ثُمَّ يُبَاشِرُهَا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray while I was sitting by his shoes, and sometimes his garment would touch me when he prostrated.  

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَأَنَا بِحِذَائِهِ وَرُبَّمَا أَصَابَنِي ثَوْبُهُ إِذَا سَجَدَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ prayed while wearing a worn-out garment, and it had some bloodstains on it.  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي خَمِيصَةٍ عَلَيْهَا بَعْضُهَا وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ used to pray on a lump of dough."  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray in his mosque while I was lying by his side, and he would touch me with his hands while I was asleep and I was menstruating.  

«كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي مَسْجِدِهِ عَلَى خُمْرَةٍ لَهُ فَيُمِسُّنِي يَدَيْهِ وَأَنَا نَائِمَةٌ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ»  

[Machine] On the authority of Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet (PBUH), who said: I heard the Prophet (PBUH) saying, "My Ummah will always remain upon good as long as they do not introduce (or tolerate) the child of Zina (illegitimate child) among them. But if they introduce it (or tolerate it), then I fear that Allah will afflict them with a punishment."  

عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَزَالُ أُمَّتِي بِخَيْرٍ مُتَمَاسِكٌ أَمْرُهَا مَا لَمْ يَظْهَرْ فِيهِمْ وَلَدُ الزِّنَا فَإِذَا ظَهَرُوا خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمُ اللهُ بِعِقَابٍ»  

[Machine] On the authority of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , she said, "I had a slave girl whom I set free. The Prophet ﷺ came to me and I informed him about her emancipation. He said, 'May Allah reward you. Had you given her to your relatives as a gift, your reward would have been greater.'"  

عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ أَعْتَقْتُ جَارِيَةً لِي فَدَخَلَ عَلِيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِعِتْقِهَا فَقَالَ «آجَرَكِ اللهُ أَمَا أَنَّكِ لَوْ أُعْطِيتِهَا أَخْوَالَكِ لَكَانَ أَعْظَمَ لِأَجْرِكِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The world is sweet and green."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةٌ خَضِرَةٌ»  

[Machine] That people questioned the fasting of the Prophet ﷺ in Arafat, so Maymuna sent him a cup while he was standing in a certain place, and he drank from it while people were watching.  

أَنَّ النَّاسَ شَكُّوا فِي صِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِعَرَفَةَ «فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ مَيْمُونَةُ بِحِلَابٍ وَهُوَ وَاقِفٌ بِالْمَوْقِفِ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ»  

[Machine] I heard Maymunah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , say: "The Prophet ﷺ used to have sexual intercourse with me while I was menstruating, and there was a cloth between us."  

سَمِعْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَقُولُ «كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُضَاجِعُنِي وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ وَبَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ ثَوْبٌ»  

[Machine] "Some of her relatives advised her not to do it, and they disapproved of it. So she said, 'Yes, indeed! I have heard my Prophet and beloved ﷺ saying, 'There is no Muslim who borrows a debt, intending to repay it, except that Allah will repay it for him in this world.'"  

لَهَا بَعْضُ أَهْلِهَا لَا تَفْعَلِي وَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَتْ بَلَى إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ نَبِيِّي وَخَلِيلِي ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ تَدَايَنَ دَيْنًا يُرِيدُ أَدَاءَهُ إِلَّا أَدَّاهُ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا»  

[Machine] Umm Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated to him that Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, sent her to Ibn Abbas, her nephew. She said, "So I went and found him having shifted his bed from the bed of his wife, the daughter of Mihsan. So I said, 'Where is he? Is he angry with his wife?' They said, 'No, but when she menstruates, he separates himself from her.' So I returned to Maimuna and informed her of how I found him.' She said, 'Pray for me.' So I supplicated for her. She then said to him, 'Do you desire to do what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do?' He replied, 'By Allah, indeed he used to have intimate relations with a woman of his wives while he was wearing a lower garment reaching half of his thighs or knees.' "  

أَنَّ نُدْبَةَ مَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَرْسَلَتْهَا إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أُخْتِهَا قَالَتْ فَجِئْتُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ قَدْ تَحَوَّلَ فِرَاشُهُ عَنْ فِرَاشِ امْرَأَتِهِ بِنْتِ مِشْرَحٍ فَقُلْتُ أَيْنَ هُوَ؟ أَمُغَاضِبٌ هُوَ امْرَأَتَهُ؟ فَقَالُوا لَا وَلَكِنَّهَا إِذَا حَاضَتِ اعْتَزَلَهَا فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مَيْمُونَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا كَيْفَ وَجَدَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ ادْعِيهِ لِي فَدَعَوْتُهُ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أَتَرْغَبُ عَمَّا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَاللهِ أَنْ «كَانَ يُبَاشِرُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابٌ يَبْلُغُ أَنْصَافَ الْفَخِذَيْنِ أَوِ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ»  

[Machine] About Hilaliyyah, which was with the Prophet, ﷺ , it was said that she had a black servant. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, I want to free her." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Why don't you let her help your brother's children with tending to the sheep?"  

عَنِ الْهِلَالِيَّةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ لَهَا خَادِمُةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَعْتَقَ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا تُعِينِينَ بِهَا بَنِي أَخِيكِ فِي رَعِيَّةِ الْغَنَمِ»  

[Machine] I asked him if I can offer three units of prayer after Isha and then go out for prayer, fearing that I might miss it. He replied, "It is not correct except with five or seven (units of prayer)." So, I asked him from whom did he hear this? He said, "From a trustworthy person, from Maymunah, from Aisha, from the Prophet ﷺ."  

سَأَلْتُهُ أَوْتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ ثُمَّ أَخْرُجُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَفُوتَنِي فَقَالَ «لَا يَصْلُحُ إِلَّا بِخَمْسٍ أَوْ سَبْعٍ» فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَمَّنْ؟ فَقَالَ عَنِ الثِّقَةِ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ  

“The believer eats with one intestine and the disbeliever eats with seven intestines.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3256)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْكَافِرُ يَأْكُلُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ وَالْمُؤْمِنُ يَأْكُلُ فِي مِعًى وَاحِدٍ»  

[Machine] "We have the Prophet of Allah, ﷺ , one day saying: 'How will you be when the religion is undermined, the subjects are divided, and the news becomes confused, and the sacred house is set on fire?'"  

لَنَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ «كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا مَرْجَ الدِّينُ وَظَهَرَتِ الرَّعِيَّةُ وَاخْتَلَفَتِ الْأَخْبَارُ وَحُرِّقَ الْبَيْتُ الْعَتِيقُ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to her when she freed her servant, "If you had ransomed your family with her from the livestock of the sheep, it would have been better."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَهَا حِينَ أَعْتَقَتْ خَادِمَهَا «لَوْ فَدَيْتِ أَهْلِكِ بِهَا مِنْ رَعِيَّةِ الْغَنَمِ كَانَ أَفْضَلَ»  

That the Prophet ﷺ used to pray two rak'ahs before the 'Asr prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1272)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ ate a shoulder of meat, then he prayed without performing ablution."  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَكَلَ كَتِفًا عِنْدَهَا ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] I heard Maymunah say, "I freed my slave girl during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so I mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, 'If you had given her to your paternal cousins, it would have been greater in reward for you.'"  

سَمِعْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ تَقُولُ أَعْتَقْتُ وَلِيدَتِي فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَوْ أُعْطِيتِهَا أَخْوَالَكِ كَانَ أَعْظَمَ لِأَجْرِكِ»  

[Machine] Do you borrow money from your family but you have nothing to repay with? So she said, "Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever takes a loan while he is capable of repaying it, Allah will assist him in repaying it.'"  

لَهَا أَهْلُهَا تَسْتَدِينِينَ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَكِ مَا تَقْضِينَ؟ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ ادَّانَ دَيْنًا وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ بِقَضَائِهِ أَعَانَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ»  

[Machine] Umm al-Mu'minin (the Mother of the Believers) Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ borrowed three hundred dirhams. It was said to her, "O Mother of the Believers, you borrow when you have none?" She replied, "Yes, for indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever borrows a debt intending to repay it, Allah will assist him in its payment.'"  

أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ اسْتَدَانَتْ ثَلَاثُمِائَةَ دِرْهَمٍ فَقِيلَ لَهَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ تَسْتَدِينِينَ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَكِ؟ فَقَالَتْ نَعَمْ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ ادَّانَ دَيْنًا وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَقْضِيَهُ أَعَانَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ»  

[Machine] He heard Maymuna saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate a shoulder, then he prayed without performing ablution."  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مَيْمُونَةَ تَقُولُ «أَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَتِفًا فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ read the letters "Ha-Mim-Ain-Seen-Qaf" and said, "O Maymunah, do you read 'Ha-Mim-Ain-Seen-Qaf'? I have forgotten what is in between from the beginning to the end." So I read it and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ read it as well.  

قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حم عسق فَقَالَ «يَا مَيْمُونَةُ أَتَقْرَئِينَ حم عسق لَقَدْ نُسِّيتُ مَا بَيْنَ أَوَّلِهَا إِلَى آخِرِهَا» فَقَرَأْتُهَا فَقَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] "Maimuna was shrouded in a pale shroud."  

«أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ كُفِّنَتْ فِي دِرْعٍ مُعَصْفَرٍ»  

[Machine] Ali, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , entered and said, "Is there any food?" I said, "Only a bone that was given to us as charity." He said, "Bring it, for it has reached its place."  

دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ؟» فَقُلْتُ لَا إِلَّا عَظْمٌ أُعْطِيَتْهُ مَوْلَاةً لَنَا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ «هَاتِيهَا فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحَلَّهَا»  

[Machine] Sawdah bint Zam'ah ibn Qays ibn Abd Shams ibn Abd Wud ibn Nasr ibn Malik ibn Hasal ibn Amir ibn Luay ibn Ghalib ibn Fihr, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, married her after Khadijah bint Khuwaylid in Makkah.  

«سَوْدَةُ بِنْتُ زَمْعَةَ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ وُدِّ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ حَسَلِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيِّ بْنِ غَالِبِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتِ خُوَيْلِدٍ بِمَكَّةَ»  

[Machine] Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Sawdah bint Zam'ah and she was previously married to Sakran bin 'Amr, brother of Bani 'Amir bin Lu'ay.  

ثُمَّ «تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ تَحْتَ السَّكْرَانِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَخِي بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ»  

[Machine] Khawlah bint Hakim ibn al-Awqas, the wife of Uthman ibn Mazh'oon, said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, will you not marry?" He asked, "Who?" She replied, "If you wish, a virgin, and if you wish, a previously married woman." He asked, "Who is the previously married woman?" She said, "Sawdah bint Zam'ah. She has believed in you and followed you in what you are upon." He said, "Go and call her to me." So I went out and entered upon Sawdah and said, "O Sawdah, what has Allah brought upon you of goodness and blessings?" She asked, "What is that?" I said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent me to propose to you on his behalf." She said, "I would like that. Enter and mention it to my father." I said, "But he is an old man and has abstained from Hajj." So I entered upon him and greeted him with the greeting of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era). Then I said, "Indeed, Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib has sent me to propose to your daughter Sawdah." He said, "Kufu Karim (a generous and noble match). What does your companion say?" Sawdah said, "She likes it." He said, "Then call her to me." So I called her and he married her off to him. Her brother Abdullah ibn Zam'ah came from Hajj and he began to put dust on his head. After he embraced Islam, he said, "I am a foolish person who put dust on his head the day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married off Sawdah bint Zam'ah."  

خَوْلَةُ بِنْتُ حَكِيمِ بْنِ الْأَوْقَصِ امْرَأَةُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ وَذَلِكَ بِمَكَّةَ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا تَزَوَّجُ؟ قَالَ «مَنْ؟» قَالَتْ إِنْ شِئْتَ بِكْرًا وَإِنْ شِئْتَ ثَيِّبًا قَالَ «وَمَنِ الثَّيِّبُ؟» قَالَتْ سَوْدَةُ بِنْتُ زَمْعَةَ قَدْ آمَنَتْ بِكَ وَاتَّبَعَتْكَ عَلَى مَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ «فَاذْهَبِي فَاذْكُرِيهَا عَلَيَّ» فَخَرَجْتُ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى سَوْدَةَ فَقُلْتُ يَا سَوْدَةُ مَاذَا أَدْخَلَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَالْبَرَكَةِ؟ قَالَتْ وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ قَالَتْ أَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَخْطُبُكِ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ وَدِدْتُ فَادْخُلِي عَلَى أَبِي وَاذْكُرِي ذَلِكَ لَهُ قُلْتُ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ وَقَدْ تَخَلَّفَ عَنِ الْحَجِّ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَحَيَّيْتُهُ بِتَحِيَّةِ أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ثُمَّ قَالَتْ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَرْسَلَنِي أَخْطَبُ عَلَيْهِ سَوْدَةَ فَقَالَ كُفُؤٌ كَرِيمٌ فَمَاذَا تَقُولُ صَاحِبَتُكِ؟ قَالَتْ تُحِبُّ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فادْعِيهَا إِلَيَّ فَدَعَوْتُهَا فَقَالَ أَيْ سَوْدَةُ رَفَعَتْ هَذِهِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَخْطُبُكِ وَهُوَ كُفُؤٌ كَرِيمٌ أَفَتُحِبِّينَ أَنْ أُزَوِّجَهُ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَادْعِيهِ لِي فَدَعَوْتُهُ فَجَاءَ فَزَوَّجَهَا فَجَاءَ أَخُوهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ مِنَ الْحَجِّ فَجَعَلَ يَحْثُو فِي رَأْسِهِ التُّرَابَ فَقَالَ بَعْدَ أَنْ أَسْلَمَ إِنِّي لَسَفِيهٌ يَوْمَ أَحْثُو فِي رَأْسِي التُّرَابَ أَنْ تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not prefer one of us over another in terms of division, and he rarely had a day when he did not encircle around us and approach each one of us without any exception until he reached the one he spent the night with. Indeed, Sauda bint Zam'ah said to him, feeling desperate, that she wanted to part ways with him, to which he accepted. In her, the following verse was revealed: "And if a woman fears from her husband contempt or evasion, there is no blame upon them if they make terms of settlement between them."  

مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُفَضِّلُ بَعْضَنَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فِي الْقَسْمِ وَكَانَ قَلَّ يَوْمٌ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُطِيفُ بِنَا وَيَدْنُو مِنْ كُلِّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنَّا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَسِيسٍ حَتَّى يَنْتَهِيَ إِلَى الَّتِي هُوَ يَوْمُهَا فَيَبِيتُ عِنْدَهَا فَلَقَدْ قَالَتْ لَهُ سَوْدَةُ بِنْتُ زَمْعَةَ وَكَانَتْ قَدْ يَئِسَتْ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُفَارِقَهَا فَقَالَتْ يَوْمِي مِنْكَ وَنَصِيبِي لِعَائِشَةَ فَقَبِلَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهَا فَفِيهَا نَزَلَتْ {وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنْ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوْ إِعْرَاضًا فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا أَنْ يُصْلِحَا بَيْنَهُمَا صُلْحًا}
