29. Chapter of Yā (Male) (1/3)
[Machine] "Abu Bakr, when he sent Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan to Sham, went out walking with him. Yazid said to him, 'Either you ride or I will descend.' Abu Bakr replied, 'I am not a rider and you are not a descender. I expect forgiveness for my sins.'"
[Machine] "On the authority of Ya'la bin 'Ata' al-Ta'ifi, who narrated from Jabir bin Yazid bin al-Aswad, who narrated from his father, he said: We prayed Fajr prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He turned around and saw two men behind the people, so he called them and they approached him trembling. Their clothes were disheveled. He asked them, 'What prevented you from praying with the people?' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we prayed on the way.' He said, 'Do not do so when any one of you has already prayed during his journey and then catches up with the prayer led by the imam. Rather, pray it with him, for it is a voluntary (nafl) prayer.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to offer the Fajr prayer in the Mosque of Al-Khaif. After he had finished, he saw two men in the back of the mosque who had not prayed with him. He sent for them and they came trembling. He asked them, "What is the matter with you, why did you not pray with us?" They replied, "We have already prayed in our homes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When any one of you comes to the mosque, he should join the congregation in prayer, for it is worthier for him."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ prayed a prayer, then when he finished his prayer, he found two men behind the people. So he ordered them and they came trembling. Their garments were shaking. He said, "What caused both of you not to pray with us?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we already prayed in our tents. Then we came here." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you both pray in your tents and then catch up with the congregation, then pray, for it will be an additional (optional) prayer for you."
[Machine] We prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Fajr prayer in Mina, when suddenly two men at the back of the mosque did not pray. The Messenger then called for them, and they were brought to him trembling. He asked them, "What prevents you from praying with us?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, we have already prayed in our tents." He said, "Do not do that. If you have already prayed in your tents and then you come to the imam and he has not prayed, then pray with him, for it will be an extra prayer for you."
[Machine] He was with the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He prayed the Fajr prayer in the Mosque of al-Khaif. When he had finished his prayer, he saw two men at the back of the mosque. They were brought to him by thunder. He said, "Why did you not pray with us?" One of them said, "O Messenger of Allah, we prayed while traveling, then we came while you were praying, so we sat down." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays in his riding mount and then comes while the Imam is praying, let him pray with him, for it will be a voluntary prayer for him.
[Machine] "I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the morning in the Mosque of al-Khayf in Mina. When he finished, he faced the people and saw two men in the back of the crowd who did not pray with the people. He said, 'Bring these two men to me.' They were brought to him trembling. He asked them, 'What prevented you from praying with the people?' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we had already prayed in our tents.' He said, 'Do not do so when one of you has prayed in his tent and then catches the congregational prayer. He should pray it with them, for it will be a voluntary prayer for him.'"
[Machine] I witnessed the Prophet ﷺ praying in the Mosque of Khayf. After he finished the prayer, he saw two men sitting aside and shivering because of the cold. The Prophet ﷺ asked them, "What prevented you from joining the prayer?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, we prayed in our traveling clothes." He said, "When you pray in your traveling clothes and catch up with the people in prayer, then pray with them. And the prayer that you prayed in your traveling clothes is the obligatory prayer."
[Machine] I performed the farewell Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and I prayed the morning prayer with him in Mina. When he finished his prayer, he saw two men behind the people who had not prayed with them. He said, "Bring those two men to me." They were brought to him trembling. He asked them, "Did you not pray with us?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we had already prayed in our camps, and we thought that we would not be able to catch the prayer." He said, "Do not do that when you have already prayed in your camps, and then if you catch the prayer, pray it, and it will be a voluntary prayer for you." One of them said, "Ask Allah to forgive me, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "O Allah, forgive him."
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, give me your hand so that I may hold it." He gave me his hand and it was cooler than ice and smelled more fragrant than musk.
[Machine] I performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and the people crowded around him. On that day, I was the strongest and most powerful of men, so I pushed the people until I held the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He placed it on my chest, and I did not feel anything cooler or more pleasant than the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .

[Machine] I recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a hundred lines of poetry by Umayyah ibn Abi Salt, every time I passed by a verse he would say "ah!" and I heard him saying in his gathering, "That neighbor is more deserving of his jar."

[Machine] "My father, Yazid, had gone out with some dinars intending to give them in charity. He handed them to me and said, 'Give them to a man from the people of the mosque.' So I gave them to someone else. Then I went to my father and informed him. He said, 'That is not what I intended.' So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and disputed with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'O Ma'n, what did you take?' And he said to my father, 'O Yazid, what did you intend?'"
[Machine] When it was revealed to the Muslims on the Day of Hunayn, the disbelievers followed them. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a handful of earth and threw it at their faces, saying, "Turn your faces away!" So none of us met his brother except that he complained of dust and wiped his eyes.
[Machine] "And about Yazid ibn 'Amir, he was present at Hunayn with the polytheists, then he embraced Islam. We asked him about the fear that Allah cast into their hearts on the Day of Hunayn, how was it? So he took a pebble and threw it far away and said, 'We used to find something like that in the depths of our hearts.'"

[Machine] Sa'id ibn al-Sa'ib al-Ta'ifi narrated from Nuha ibn Sa'sa'a who narrated from Yazid ibn 'Amir, he said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ during either the Dhuhr or Asr prayer, and I had already performed them at home. When I found the Prophet ﷺ praying, I sat down and did not join him in the prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer and saw me sitting, so he said, "Did you not offer the greetings, O Yazid?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, I did greet (the prayer)." He said, "What prevents you from joining the people in their prayer?" I said, "I had already prayed at home and I thought that you had already prayed." He said, "When you come to the prayer and find the people praying, then pray with them. Even if you have already prayed, it will be a voluntary prayer for you. And this is prescribed."

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not compete with one another except in two things: a man to whom Allah has given the Qur'an, so he recites it during the night and during the day, or a man to whom Allah has given wealth, so he spends it and gives in charity." A man said: "If Allah had given me what He has given so-and-so, I would do like him." And a man to whom Allah has given wealth, so he spends it and gives in charity, another man said: "Like that."
[Machine] On a certain day, they went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carrying a funeral until they reached Al-Baqi'. He said, "What is this?" They said, "This is So-and-so, the freed slave of So-and-so." He recognized her and said, "Why didn't you inform me about her?" They said, "We buried her during the daytime while you were sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb you." So he got up, lined the people behind him, and performed the funeral prayer. Then he said, "None among you should die without my permission as long as I am among you. For indeed, my prayer for him is a mercy."
[Machine] From his uncle Yazid ibn Thabit, who was older than Zaid, he said, "We went out with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and when we reached al-Baqi, there was a new grave. He asked about it, and they said, 'So-and-so.' He recognized her and said, 'Didn't you grant me permission?' They said, 'You were saying that you were fasting, so we disliked causing you harm.' He said, 'Don't do that. I will not know who among you dies unless you inform me. For, indeed, my prayer for him is a mercy. Then he went to the grave, and we lined up behind him, and he made four takbeers (saying "Allahu Akbar").

[Machine] A man from his family died while he was not a Muslim. My sister inherited him instead of me, and she was on his religion. Then my father became a Muslim and witnessed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Hunayn, and he died. So she took possession of his inheritance, and he left behind a servant and date palm trees. Then my sister became Muslim and she disputed with me regarding the inheritance, so I took the matter to Uthman. Abdullah ibn al-Arqam narrated to him that Umar decreed that whoever accepts Islam before the division of the inheritance will have a share. Therefore, Uthman ruled according to it. The first case was settled, and she shared with me in it. This wording is from the hadith of Abu Rabi al-Zahrani.

[Machine] Yazid ibn Shajarah, who was known for his honesty in both words and actions, narrated the following: He said, "We delivered a sermon and said, 'O people, remember the blessings of Allah upon you. How beautiful are His blessings upon you! You can see them in the green, yellow, and red colors, as well as in the silk clothing and other goods.' He used to say, 'When people line up for prayer and also line up for battle, the gates of heaven, the gates of paradise, and the gates of hell are opened. The fair-eyed maidens adorn themselves and eagerly look forward. When a man advances, we say, 'O Allah, grant him victory,' and when he retreats, we hide from him and say, 'O Allah, forgive him.' So, break the faces of the enemy as an offering to Allah, my father and mother, and do not dishonor the fair-eyed maidens. For with the first drop of his blood, all his sins are forgiven, and two maidens from paradise descend upon him to wipe the dust off his face. They say, 'How fortunate you are!' He says, 'How fortunate you are!' Then he is dressed in a hundred garments, not made from the fabric of human beings, but made from the plants of paradise. If they were placed between his fingers, they would spread out. He used to say, 'I have been informed that the keys to paradise are the swords.' This narration is from 'Abdus Samad ibn Hassan."

[Machine] I participated in the Battle of Tabuk with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I was accompanied by a servant named Ajeer who fought alongside me. He fought against an opponent and bit his hand, causing his thumb to fall off. The Prophet ﷺ was informed about this and he asked the servant if he should leave his hand in his mouth so that he could bite it off completely, like a stallion bites off a piece. The servant then let go of the hand.
Do you wish to bite as the camel bites? (Using translation from Muslim 1674b)

[Machine] Abu and his uncle Salamah bin Umayyah said that they went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Tabuk, and we had a companion with us. A man from the people fought him and bit him, so our companion pulled his hand out of his mouth, and he threw some of it at him. Then he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about intellect, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "One of you goes to his brother and bites him like the bite of a camel, then he comes and asks about intellect." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pointed to his mouth.

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was in Ji'rana wearing a cloak and had the appearance of a traveler. Hammam or a mark of yellowish color was on him. He said, "How do you order me to do in my 'Umrah?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Revelation has come to the Prophet ﷺ while he was covered with a cloth." He said, "I wish that I had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when revelation was being sent down to him." 'Umar said to him, "Do you feel at ease when looking at the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and he had revelation sent down to him?" Then 'Umar lifted the edge of the cloak and I looked at him, and he had a mark. Hammam said, "I think the mark was like the mark of a camel's knee." When Hammam left, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Where is the questioner (about 'Umrah)? Lay aside your cloak, take a bath and do in your 'Umrah what you do in your Hajj."

[Machine] I said to Umar ibn al-Khattab, "If only I had witnessed the Prophet ﷺ when revelation descended upon him." Umar said, "We were once traveling with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he stopped to rest at a certain place. An Arab man wearing a yellow cloak approached him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have entered into a state of ihram for Umrah, and the people are mocking me. What should I do?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent. Then, Allah revealed His Words and pointed to me with his hand. I lowered my head, and when I looked up, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with red eyes and forehead. He was angry for my sake and said, 'Where is the person who asked about al-Umrah?' I replied, 'It is me, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Remove your cloak and perform what you have not done during Hajj in your Umrah.'"
[Machine] An Arab man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were with him. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have entered into Ihram, and he (pointing to someone) is acting in a hypocritical manner and wearing a cloak made of wool and an 'Imamah (turban)." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Remove your 'Imamah and garment, and wash off this yellowness from you. And do what you would have done in your Hajj for your 'Umrah."
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ when revelation came down upon him. When we were in Ji'ranah, revelation came down upon him and he folded a garment. 'Umar called me and uncovered the garment from his face, and I saw his face reddened and sweaty. A Bedouin with tattered garments and disheveled hair came to him before that and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am in a state of ihram (ritual consecration) for 'Umrah while I have this on me. How should I proceed?" He did not respond to him until revelation came down upon him. Then, when the revelation ceased, he asked, "Where is the person who asked the question?" The person said, "Here I am." He asked him, "Tell me, if you were in a state of ihram for Hajj and had this on you, what would you do?" The man replied, "I would remove these tattered garments and wash off this dirt." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go and remove these tattered garments from yourself and wash off this dirt, and perform your 'Umrah as you would have performed your Hajj."

"A man came to the Messenger of Allah when he was in Al-Jirranah wearing a Jubnah, and having applied Khauq to his beard and head. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I have entered Ihram for 'Umrah and I am as you see.' He said: 'Take off the Jubbah and wash off the perfume, and whatever you would do for Hajj, do it for 'Umrah.''' [Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Al-Jiranah when he came from Hunayn and distributed their spoils. Then a Bedouin man, wearing a shirt or cloak and had dyed himself with yellow, came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have entered into the state of ihram for 'Umrah. What do you think?" He did not respond to him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have entered into the state of ihram for 'Umrah. What do you think?" Again, he did not respond to him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ secluded himself for receiving revelation, and 'Umar approached to cover him with his garment. Ya'la ibn Munyah said, "I wish to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he receives revelation." 'Umar called him and he entered his head from under the garment, and he found him covered like someone who is asleep. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and called the Bedouin man and ordered him to remove his cloak and shirt, and told him to wash and wear the i'zar and the rida', and to perform in 'Umrah what he would do in Hajj.
