ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ حُكْمَ مَسْجِدِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ وَمَسْجِدِ غَيْرِهِ فِيمَا وَصَفْنَا سَوَاءٌ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever eats anything from this plant, let him not come to the mosque.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1016)   

ابن حبّان:٢٠٨٨أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَلَا يَأْتِيَنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the battle of Khaybar: He who ate of this plant, i. e. garlic, should not come to the mosques. In the narration of Zubair, there is only a mention of" battle" and not of Khaybar.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ يَعْنِي الثُّومَ فَلاَ يَأْتِيَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ فِي غَزْوَةٍ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ خَيْبَرَ

Anas was asked about the garlic; he stated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said: He who eats of this plant (garlic) should not approach us and pray along with us.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who eats of this plant (garlic) should not approach our mosque and should not harm us with the odour of garlic.

malik:1-30Yaḥyá > Mālik > Ibn Shihāb > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Said ibn al- Musayyab that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anyone who eats this plant should not come near our mosques. The smell of the garlic will offend us."  

مالك:١-٣٠حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَلاَ يَقْرُبْ مَسَاجِدَنَا يُؤْذِينَا بِرِيحِ الثُّومِ

[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever eats from this tree, let him not harm us with it in our mosque." Ya'qub (meaning garlic) said.  

أحمد:٧٥٨٣حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَيَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَلَا يُؤْذِينَا بِهَا فِي مَسْجِدِنَا هَذَا قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ يَعْنِي الثُّومَ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said in the Battle of Khaybar, "Whoever eats from this tree, meaning garlic, should not come to the mosques."

ibnhibban:1643ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad al-Azdī > Isḥāq > Jarīr > al-Shaybānī > ʿAdī b. Thābit > Zir b. Ḥubaysh > Ḥudhayfah

Zirr ibn Hubaysh said: Hudhayfah traced, I think, to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the saying: He who spits in the direction of the qiblah will come on the Day of Resurrection in the state that his saliva will be between his eyes; and he who eats from this noxious vegetable should not come near our mosque, saying it three times. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3824)

الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ خَبَّابٍ مِنْ سَاكِنِي الْكُوفَةِ
