12. Remaing Anṣār (9/28)
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that one day he rode on a donkey named "Ya'foor", his reins were made of a type of flax. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Ride, O Mu'adh!" So I said, "Go ahead, O Messenger of Allah." Then he rode and the donkey stumbled with us. The Prophet ﷺ started laughing, and while I was feeling sorry for myself, he did it again for a second time, and then a third time. Then he rode and the donkey walked with us. He put his hand behind and struck my back with a whip or stick he had. Then he said, "O Mu'adh, do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?" So I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah upon His servants is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him." He said, "Then he walked as Allah willed, and then put his hand again and struck my back. He said, "O Mu'adh, son of Mu'adh's mother, do you know the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the servants upon Allah if they do that is that He will admit them to Paradise."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said to Mu'adh, 'It is better for you that Allah guides a person through you, than for you to have red camels [a renowned symbol of wealth].' "
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ advised me with ten words. He said: Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are killed or burned. Do not disobey your parents, even if they order you to leave your family and wealth. Do not neglect the obligatory prayers intentionally, for whoever leaves the obligatory prayer intentionally, Allah's protection is lifted from him. Do not drink alcohol, as it is the root of every evil. Beware of committing sins, for sins bring about Allah's anger. Beware of fleeing from the battlefield, even if people are killed and you are among them, remain steadfast. Provide for your family based on your ability and do not raise your stick toward them as a sign of discipline. Honor them in the sight of Allah.
Allah will distance Himself from those in authority who fail to assist ones in need
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is in charge of any matter for the people and seeks to hide from those who are weak or are in need, Allah will distant Himself from him on the Day of Resurrection."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited this verse: 'The companions of the right (hand)' (Al-Waqi'ah 27) and 'The companions of the left (hand)' (Al-Waqi'ah 41). Then he clenched his hands and said, 'These are the people of Paradise, and I do not care about it, and these are the people of the Hellfire, and I do not care about it.'"
[Machine] Mu'adh came to them from Yemen, and a woman from Khawlān met him with her twelve children. She left their father at home, the youngest of whom had been breastfeeding, and she greeted Mu'adh and two men from her sons were holding onto her garment. She asked him, "Who sent you, O man?" Mu'adh replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me." The woman said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent you and you are the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? Why don't you inform me, O messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" So Mu'adh said, "Ask me whatever you wish." She asked, "Tell me about the rights of a man over his wife?" Mu'adh said, "Fear Allah as much as you can, listen and obey." She said, "By Allah, I vowed that you would inform me about the rights of a man over his wife." Mu'adh said, "Even if you were to hear and obey and fear Allah?" She replied, "Yes, but tell me about the rights of a man over his wife. For I have left my father, an elderly man, at home." Mu'adh said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Mu'adh, if you were to return and find him with leprosy, with his flesh and the tips of his fingers oozing pus and blood, you would still lick them to fulfill his rights upon you."

the Prophet said: “Should I not inform you of the best of your deed, and the purest of them with your Master, and the highest of them in your ranks, and what is better for you than spending gold and silver, and better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks, and they strike your necks?” They said: “Of course.” He said, “The remembrance of Allah [Most High].” [Then] Mu’adh bin Jabal [may Allah be pleased with him] said: “There is nothing that brings more salvation from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3377)
[Machine] I entered the mosque of Hims and found around thirty young men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. Among them was a young man with dark eyes and radiant complexion, silent and serene. Whenever the people needed something, they would come to him and ask him. I asked my neighbor, "Who is this?" He replied, "This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal." I developed a love for him in my heart and I stayed with them until they dispersed. Then I migrated to the mosque and there I found Mu'adh ibn Jabal standing and praying near a column. He remained silent and did not speak to me. I prayed and then sat down, wrapping myself in my cloak. He sat there silently without speaking to me, and I also remained silent. Then I said, "By Allah, I love you." He asked, "For what reason do you love me?" I replied, "For the sake of Allah the Most Blessed and Exalted." He held my collar and pulled me towards him gently, then he said, "Rejoice! If you are truthful, then I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Those who love each other for my sake will have pulpits of light, and they will envy the prophets and martyrs.'" He then left, and I met Ubada ibn As-Samit and said to him, "O Abu Al-Walid, I inform you of what Mu'adh ibn Jabal said about those who love each other for the sake of Allah." Ubada replied, "Let me tell you what the Prophet ﷺ said about this. He said, 'By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, your love for the sake of Allah is confirmed. Your love for those you meet and accompany is confirmed. And your love for those you spend money on and support is confirmed. And your love for those you maintain ties with is confirmed.'"

[Machine] On the Day of Resurrection, the believers will be raised barefoot, unclothed, and with eyes darkened, the age of thirty years.
[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah, seeking him. It was said to me that he had gone out. So, I decided not to appoint anyone until it was said to me that he had just passed. I kept going until I found him standing and praying. I approached him and stood behind him. The prayer became longer, and when he finished the prayer, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you have prayed a long prayer.' The Messenger of Allah replied, 'Indeed, I have prayed a prayer out of desire and fear. I asked Allah for three things, and He granted me two and prevented me from one. I asked Him that my Ummah not be destroyed by drowning, and He granted it. I asked Him that He not make an enemy from outside of them overpower them, and He granted it. And I asked Him that He not cause them to fight amongst themselves, and He returned that to me.'"
Note: The ṣalāh mentioned in the passage refers to the Islamic prayer.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) sent me to confirm the belief of the people of Yemen and commanded me to take from every thirty cows for sale. Harun said, "The sale refers to a yearling or yearling female calf, and from every forty, an older female." They presented to me the option of taking from the forty. Harun said, "Between the forty and fifty."

[Machine] "It is the mercy of your Lord and the supplication of your Prophet and the gathering of the righteous before you. O Allah, grant the family of Mu'adh their share of this mercy. Then he descended from his position and entered upon Abdurrahman bin Mu'adh. Abdurrahman said, 'The truth is from your Lord, so be not of those who are skeptical.' (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:147). Mu'adh said, 'You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient.' (Surah As-Saaffat, 37:102)."

[Machine] Two men argued in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ and one of them became so angry that it seemed to me that his nose would twitch with anger. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I know a word that if he were to say it, his anger would go away. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Satan, the accursed."
"Whoever fasts Ramadan, performs the Salat, performs Hajj to the House" - I do not know whether he mentioned Zakat or not - "except that it is binding on Allah that He forgive him, whether he emigrated in the cause of Allah, or remained in his land in which he was born." Mu'adh said: "Should I not inform the people of this?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave the people to do deeds, for verily in Paradise there are a hundred levels, what is between every two levels is like what is between the heavens and the earth. Al-Firdaus is the highest of Paradise and its most expansive, and above that is the Throne of Ar-Rahman (the Most Merciful), and from it the rivers of Paradise are made to flow forth. So when you ask Allah, ask Him for Al-Firdaus." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2530)

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "You will migrate to Ash-Sham, and it will be opened for you. Then, a disease like the pustules or the itch will appear among you, affecting the body of a person and causing him to martyr himself for Allah. By this, Allah will purify their deeds. O Allah, if you know that Mu'adh bin Jabal heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then grant him and his family the greatest portion of it. [Machine] Two men from the children of Israel were enrolled under the covenant of Moses, ﷺ . One of them was a Muslim and the other was a polytheist. The polytheist claimed, "I am so and so, the son of so and so," until he reached nine generations. Then he said to his companion, "You have no lineage." The Muslim replied, "I am so and so, the son of so and so, and I am innocent of what is beyond that." Moses called the people and gathered them, then said, "Your cases have been decided. As for the one who claimed lineage up to nine generations, you are the tenth among them in the Fire. And as for the one who claimed lineage to his parents, you are a man from the people of Islam."

The Prophet ﷺ was engaged in the Battle of Tabuk. If he moved off before the sun had declined, he would delay the noon prayer till he would combine it with the afternoon prayer and would offer them together. If he moved off after the sun had declined, he would combine the noon and afternoon prayers, and then he proceeded; if he moved off before the evening prayer, he would delay the evening prayer; he would offer it along with the night prayer, he would delay the evening prayer; he would offer it along with the night prayer. "One morning, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was prevented from coming to us for Salat As-Subh, until we were just about to look for the eye of the sun (meaning sunrise). Then he came out quickly, had the Salat prepared for. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the Salat, and he performed his Salat in a relatively quick manner. When he said the Salam, he called aloud with his voice saying to us: 'Stay in your rows as you are.' Then he turned coming near to us, then he said: 'I am going to narrate to you what kept me from you this morning: I got up during the night, I performed Wudu and prayed as much as I was able to, and I dozed off during my Salat, and fell deep asleep. Then I saw my Lord, Blessed and Most High, in the best of appearances. He said: 'O Muhammad!' I said: 'My Lord here I am my Lord!' He said: 'What is it that the most exalted group busy themselves with?' I said: 'I do not know Lord.' And He said it three times." He said: "So I saw Him place His Palm between my shoulders, and I sensed the coolness of His Fingertips between my breast. Then everything was disclosed for me, and I became aware. So He said: 'O Muhammad!' I said: 'Here I am my Lord!' He said: 'What is it that the most exalted group busy themselves with?' I said: 'In the acts that atone.' He said: 'And what are they?' I said: 'The footsteps to the congregation, the gatherings in the Masajid after the Salat, Isbagh Al-Wudu during difficulties.' He said: 'Then what else?' I said: 'Feeding others, being lenient in speech, and Salat during the night while the people are sleeping.' He said: 'Ask.' I said: 'O Allah! I ask of you the doing of the good deeds, avoiding the evil deeds, loving the poor, and that You forgive me, and have mercy upon me. And when You have willed Fitnah in the people, then take me without the Fitnah. And I ask You for Your love, the love of whomever You love, and the love of the deeds that bring one nearer to Your love.'" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed it is true, so study it and learn it." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3235)

"A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What do you say about a man who meets a woman and there is no acquaintance between them. So there is nothing that a man who would do with his wife but he does it with her, except that he does not have intercourse with her?'" He said: "So Allah revealed: And perform the Salat, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful (11:114). So he ordered him to perform Wudu and Salat." Then Mu'adh said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Is that specifically for him, or for the believers in general?' He said: 'Rather it is for the believers in general.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3113)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If anyone fights in Allah's path as long as the time between two milkings of a she-camel, Paradise will be assured for him. If anyone sincerely asks Allah for being killed and then dies or is killed, there will be a reward of a martyr for him. Ibn al-Musaffa added from here: If anyone is wounded in Allah's path, or suffers a misfortune, it will come on the Day of resurrection as copious as possible, its colour saffron, and its odour musk; and if anyone suffers from ulcers while in Allah's path, he will have on him the stamp of the martyrs. He (the Prophet) struck his thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as true as you are here or as you are sitting (meaning Mu'adh ibn Jabal). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4294)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out with the people before the Battle of Tabuk. When morning came, he led the people in the Fajr prayer. Then, the people mounted their rides, and when the sun came up, the people dozed off on their camels. Muadh, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ , stayed close behind him and followed his footsteps. The people dispersed on the road, resting and walking, while feeding and moving. While Muadh was following in the footsteps of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , his camel stumbled and he held it back with the reins. As a result, the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ran away from him. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ uncovered his face and turned around, only to find a man from the army, who was closer to him than Muadh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and said, "O Muadh!" He replied, "I am here, O Messenger of Allah!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him to draw closer. So, he approached until his camel touched the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then, the Prophet ﷺ said, "I did not think that the people were as close to me as their position requires." Muadh said, "O Messenger of Allah, the people fell asleep, and their rides scattered, grazing and moving." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "I also dozed off." When Muadh saw the good news from the Prophet ﷺ and he was alone with him, he asked, "O Messenger of Allah, permit me to ask you about something that has caused me illness, weakness, and distress." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Ask me whatever you wish." Muadh said, "Please tell me a deed that will make me enter Paradise. I will not ask you about anything else." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have asked about something great. You have asked about something great. It is easy for the one whom Allah wants good for. It is easy for the one whom Allah wants good for. It is easy for the one whom Allah wants good for." He did not offer him any other suggestion without repeating it to him three times, especially since Muadh showed such keenness to learn it. Then, the Prophet ﷺ said, "You should believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish the prayer, worship Allah alone without associating partners with Him, perform the obligatory acts, and avoid the prohibitions until you die while adhering to them." Muadh said, "O Messenger of Allah, repeat it for me." The Prophet repeated it for him three times. Then, he said, "If you wish, I will inform you of the head, the pillar, and the pinnacle of this matter." Muadh said, "Yes, please, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The head of this matter is the testimony that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and messenger. The pillar of this matter is establishing the prayer and paying the Zakah. And the pinnacle of this matter is Jihad in the cause of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ added, "I have been ordered to fight against people until they testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and messenger, establish prayer, and pay Zakah. If they do so, their blood and wealth will be protected from me except for its due rights, and their reckoning is with Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ concluded by saying, "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one among the actions that lead to Paradise is as great as performing the obligatory prayer. And there is nothing heavier in the balance of a servant than truthfulness which he practices in striving in the cause of Allah, and there is nothing that will weigh more heavily in the balance of a servant than spending in the cause of Allah or carrying out an obligation in that regard."
