No blessings in leadership that is sought for fame

muslim:1652aShaybān b. Farrūkh > Jarīr b. Ḥāzim > al-Ḥasan > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Samurah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "O ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Samurah, don't ask for authority, for if it is granted to you for asking for it, you would be held responsible for it ˹without Divine blessings˺. However, if you are granted it without your asking for it, you would be helped ˹by Allah˺ in it."

"And when you take an oath and find something else better than that, expiate for ˹breaking˺ your oath, and do that which is better."

This hadith has also been transmitted on the authority of Ibn Farrukh. The above hadith is narratted through another chain of transmitters.

Jihād and intention are what matter now after migration from Makkah

muslim:1864Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Numayr from my father > ʿAbdullāh b. Ḥabīb b. Abū Thābit > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū Ḥusayn > ʿAṭāʾ > ʿĀʾishah

There is no migration after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and sincere intention. When you are asked to set out (for the cause of Islam), you should set out,

Allah will distance Himself from those in authority who fail to assist ones in need

ahmad:22076Ḥusayn b. Muḥammad > Sharīk > Abū Ḥaṣīn > al-Wālibī Ṣadīq Limuʿādh b. Jabal > Muʿādh

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is in charge of any matter for the people and seeks to hide from those who are weak or are in need, Allah will distant Himself from him on the Day of Resurrection."
