From Zaid bin Thabit that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted selling in Al-'Araya by estimating it.  

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. The Hadith of Abu Hurairah is Hasan Sahih. And this is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge. Among them Ash-Shafi'i, Ahmad and Ishaq. They said Al-'Araya is an exception from the general scope of the prohibition of the Prophet ﷺ when he prohibited Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah. They argued using this Hadith of Zaid bin Thabit and the Hadith of Abu Hurairah. They said that he may buy what is less than five Wasq. According to some of the people of knowledge, this means that the Prophet ﷺ wanted to make less restriction for them on this matter because they complained to him saying: "We dont by anything with dried dates except fruit." So he permitted them to buy less than five Wasq worth so they could eat fresh dates.
الترمذي:١٣٠٢ – حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْخَصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا

Nafi, reported this hadith with the same chain of transmitters stating that Allah's Messengtr ﷺ granted concession in case of 'ariyya transactions (for exchange of the same commodity) with measure.

Bushair b. Yasar reported on the authority of some of the Companion of Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he exempted the transactions, of 'ariyya (from the direct exchange of one kind) after measuring the dry dates (in exchange for fresh dates).

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar from Zayd ibn Thabit that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed the holder of an ariya to barter the dates on the palm for the amount of dried dates it was estimated that the palms would produce.  

مالك:٣١-١٤ – حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

الطبراني:٤٧٧٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ الطَّحَّانُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا عَنْبَسَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا يُونُسُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا»

"Zaid bin Thabit narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a concession regarding the sale of 'Araya.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2268)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted the sale of dried dates by measure instead of count.

«رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا أَنْ تُبَاعَ كَيْلًا بِخَرْصِهَا»

الكبرى للنسائي:١١٧٠٤ – عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا»  

nasai-kubra:6084 – ʿUbaydullāh b. Saʿīd > Yaḥyá > ʿUbaydullāh > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbdullāh > Zayd b. Thābit

Zaid b. Thabit (Allah be pleased with him) reported Messenger of Allah ﷺ granting concession in case of 'ariyya transactions and that implies selling of (dry dates for fresh dates) according to a measure. (Using translation from Muslim 1539h)

the Messenger of Allah granted a concession allowing 'Araya sales for dried dates by estimation. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4539)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرِيَّةِ بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا
