"The Messenger of Allah granted a concession allowing 'Araya sales by estimate." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4544)  

الكبرى للنسائي:٦٠٩٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ

عَنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا

The Prophet ﷺ permitted selling the dates of the 'Araya for ready dates by estimating the amount of the former (as they are still on the trees).  

البخاري:٢٣٨٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ؓ قَالَ

رَخَّصَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ تُبَاعَ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا  

muslim:1539j – [Chain 1] Abū al-Rabīʿ And ʾAbū Kāmil > Ḥammād [Chain 2] Ismāʿīl > Ayyūb > Nāfiʿ Bihadhā al-Isnād

Nafi, reported this hadith with the same chain of transmitters stating that Allah's Messengtr ﷺ granted concession in case of 'ariyya transactions (for exchange of the same commodity) with measure.  

مسلم:١٥٣٩j – وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا  

muslim:1540b – [Chain 1] Qutaybah b. Saʿīd > Layth [Chain 2] Ibn Rumḥ > al-Layth > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Bushayr b. Yasār

Bushair b. Yasar reported on the authority of some of the Companion of Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he exempted the transactions, of 'ariyya (from the direct exchange of one kind) after measuring the dry dates (in exchange for fresh dates).

عَنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرِيَّةِ بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا

عَنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا  

tirmidhi:1302 – Qutaybah > Ḥammād b. Zayd > Ayyūb > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar > Zayd b. Thābit

From Zaid bin Thabit that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted selling in Al-'Araya by estimating it.  

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. The Hadith of Abu Hurairah is Hasan Sahih. And this is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge. Among them Ash-Shafi'i, Ahmad and Ishaq. They said Al-'Araya is an exception from the general scope of the prohibition of the Prophet ﷺ when he prohibited Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah. They argued using this Hadith of Zaid bin Thabit and the Hadith of Abu Hurairah. They said that he may buy what is less than five Wasq. According to some of the people of knowledge, this means that the Prophet ﷺ wanted to make less restriction for them on this matter because they complained to him saying: "We dont by anything with dried dates except fruit." So he permitted them to buy less than five Wasq worth so they could eat fresh dates.

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمُ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاقُ وَقَالُوا إِنَّ الْعَرَايَا مُسْتَثْنَاةٌ مِنْ جُمْلَةِ نَهْىِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِذْ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُحَاقَلَةِ وَالْمُزَابَنَةِ وَاحْتَجُّوا بِحَدِيثِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَحَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَقَالُوا لَهُ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ مَا دُونَ خَمْسَةِ أَوْسُقٍ وَمَعْنَى هَذَا عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَرَادَ التَّوْسِعَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي هَذَا لأَنَّهُمْ شَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ وَقَالُوا لاَ نَجِدُ مَا نَشْتَرِي مِنَ الثَّمَرِ إِلاَّ بِالتَّمْرِ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُمْ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسَةِ أَوْسُقٍ أَنْ يَشْتَرُوهَا فَيَأْكُلُوهَا رُطَبًا

ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ ثَانٍ يُصَرِّحُ بِصِحَّةِ مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ

ibnhibban:5005 – Aḥmad

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that he permitted the sale of used clothing.
