[Machine] Jesus, ﷺ , said, "O enemy of Allah, indeed Allah the Blessed and Exalted tests His servant, and the servant does not test his Lord."
عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَبْتَلِي عَبْدَهُ وَالْعَبْدُ لَا يَبْتَلِي رَبَّهُ
[Machine] Indeed, Jesus son of Mary, ﷺ , was standing by a grave, with his disciples or a group of his companions. He mentioned the darkness, loneliness, and narrowness of the grave. Then Jesus, ﷺ , said, "You were in a narrower place than this in your mothers' wombs. So when Allah loves, He widens and expands."
إِنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ كَانَ وَاقِفًا عَلَى قَبْرٍ وَمَعَهُ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ أَوْ قَالَ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَ وَصَاحِبُ الْقَبْرِ يُدْلَى فِيهِ قَالَ فَذَكَرُوا مِنْ ظُلْمَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَوَحْشَتِهِ وَضِيقِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَدْ كُنْتُمْ فِيمَا هُوَ أَضْيَقُ مِنْهُ فِي أَرْحَامِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ فَإِذَا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ ﷻ أَنْ يُوَسِّعَ وَسَّعَ
[Machine] Jesus, ﷺ , said: "Blessed is the one who restrains his tongue and expands his household, and weeps over his sins."
قَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ طُوبَى لِمَنْ خَزَنَ لِسَانَهُ وَوَسِعَهُ بَيْتُهُ وَبَكَى مِنْ ذِكْرِ خَطِيئَتِهِ
[Machine] Jesus, ﷺ , said, "Blessed is he who guards his tongue, expands his house, and weeps from the remembrance of his sin."
قَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ طُوبَى لِمَنْ خَزَنَ لِسَانَهُ وَوَسِعَهُ بَيْتُهُ وَبَكَى مِنْ ذِكْرِ خَطِيئَتِهِ
[Machine] Jesus, son of Mary, ﷺ , said: "Blessed is the believer, and then blessed is he. How does Allah protect His child after him?"
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ طُوبَى لِلْمُؤْمِنِ ثُمَّ طُوبَى لَهُ كَيْفَ يَحْفَظُ اللَّهُ ﷻ وَلَدَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , said: "Blessed is the believer, and then blessed is he. How does Allah protect His child after him?"
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ طُوبَى لِلْمُؤْمِنِ ثُمَّ طُوبَى لَهُ كَيْفَ يَحْفَظُ اللَّهُ ﷻ وَلَدَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , used to say, "When one of you gives charity with his right hand, let him conceal it from his left hand, and when he prays, let him cover his door. Indeed, Allah divides praise as He divides sustenance."
كَانَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَقُولُ إِذَا تَصَدَّقَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَلْيُخْفِهَا عَنْ شِمَالِهِ وَإِذَا صَلَّى فَلْيُدْنِ عَلَيْهِ سِتْرَ بَابِهِ؛ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ يَقْسِمُ الثَّنَاءَ كَمَا يَقْسِمُ الرِّزْقَ
[Machine] The disciples of Jesus, the son of Mary, asked, "Who is the one who is sincere to Allah?" He replied, "The one who works for Allah and does not seek praise from people." They asked, "Then who is the advisor to Allah?" He replied, "The one who gives priority to the rights of Allah over the rights of people. When faced with two matters, one related to this world and the other to the Hereafter, he starts with the matter of the Hereafter and then focuses on the matter of this world." Sufyan said, "I was informed of this by Mansoor, then I met him and asked him."
الْحَوَارِيُّونَ لِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ مَا الْمُخْلِصُ لِلَّهِ ﷻ؟ قَالَ الَّذِي يَعْمَلُ لِلَّهِ ﷻ لَا يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَحْمَدَهُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ قَالُوا فَمَا النَّاصِحُ لِلَّهِ؟ قَالَ الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِحَقِّ اللَّهِ؛ فَيُؤْثِرُ حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى حَقِّ النَّاسِ وَإِذَا عَرَضَ لَهُ أَمْرَانِ؛ أَمْرُ دُنْيَا وَأَمْرُ آخِرَةٍ يَبْدَأُ بِأَمْرِ الْآخِرَةِ وَيَتَفَرَّغُ لِأَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا بَعْدُ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي بِهِ مَنْصُورٌ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ لَقِيتُهُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ
[Machine] It was said to Jesus, ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, if you had taken a donkey to ride it for your needs?" He said, "I am more honorable to Allah than to have something that distracts me."
قِيلَ لِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوِ اتَّخَذْتَ حِمَارًا تَرْكَبُهُ لِحَاجَتِكَ؟ قَالَ أَنَا أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ لِي شَيْئًا يَشْغَلُنِي بِهِ
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , said to the disciples, "I tell you the truth, you cannot have both this world and the hereafter." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, explain this matter to us, for we have always wanted one of them." He said, "If you want this world, then you must obey the Lord of this world, who holds the keys to its treasures and will give them to you. And if you want the hereafter, then you must obey the Lord of the hereafter, who owns it and will give it to you. But you cannot have both this world and the hereafter."
أَنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ مَا الدُّنْيَا [50] تُرِيدُونَ وَلَا الْآخِرَةَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَسِّرْ لَنَا هَذَا الْأَمْرَ؛ فَإِنَّا قَدْ كُنَّا نَرَى أَنَّا نُرِيدُ إِحْدَاهُمَا؟ قَالَ لَوْ أَرَدْتُمُ الدُّنْيَا لَأَطَعْتُمْ رَبَّ الدُّنْيَا؛ الَّذِي مَفَاتِيحُ خَزَائِنِهَا بِيَدِهِ فَأَعْطَاكُمْ وَلَوْ أَرَدْتُمُ الْآخِرَةَ أَطَعْتُمْ رَبَّ الْآخِرَةِ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُهَا فَأَعْطَاكُمُوهَا وَلَكِنْ لَا هَذِهِ تُرِيدُونَ وَلَا تِلْكَ
[Machine] "Jesus son of Mary, may ﷺ , why don't I see in you the best worship?" They said, "And what is the best worship, O Spirit of God?" He said, "Humility before Allah."
عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ مَا لِي لَا أَرَى فِيكُمْ أَفْضَلَ الْعِبَادَةِ؟ قَالُوا وَمَا أَفْضَلُ الْعِبَادَةِ يَا رُوحَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ التَّوَاضُعُ لِلَّهِ ﷻ
[Machine] Jesus, ﷺ , said, "Store your treasures in heaven, for a person's heart is where their treasure is."
أَنَّ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ «اجْعَلُوا كُنُوزَكُمْ فِي السَّمَاءِ؛ فَإِنَّ قَلْبَ الْمَرْءِ عِنْدَ كَنْزِهِ»
[Machine] "Indeed, Satan said to Jesus ﷺ when he placed him on the Mount of Olives: 'You claim that you can bring the dead back to life. So, if you are truthful, then pray to Allah to turn this mountain into bread.' Jesus ﷺ replied to him: 'Do all people live by bread alone?' Satan said to him: 'If you are as you say, then jump from this place, for the angels will catch you.' Jesus ﷺ said: 'Indeed, my Lord has commanded me not to put myself to the test. So, I do not know if I will be saved or not.'"
إِنَّ إِبْلِيسَ قَالَ لِعِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ حِينَ وَضَعَهُ عَلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَقَالَ زَعَمْتَ أَنَّكَ تُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى فَإِنْ كُنْتَ كَذَلِكَ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَرُدَّ هَذَا الْجَبَلَ خُبْزًا فَقَالَ لَهُ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَوَكُلُّ النَّاسِ يَعِيشُونَ مِنَ الْخُبْزِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِبْلِيسُ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ كَمَا تَقُولُ فَثِبْ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَكَانِ فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ سَتَلْقَاكَ قَالَ إِنَّ رَبِّي ﷻ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ لَا أُجَرِّبَ بِنَفْسِي فَلَا أَدْرِي هَلْ يُسَلِّمُنِي أَمْ لَا
[Machine] 'Isa, ﷺ , used to say: "If one of you is fasting, let him anoint his beard and wipe his lips, until he goes out to the people and they say, 'He is not fasting.'"
كَانَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَقُولُ إِذَا كَانَ صَوْمُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَدْهِنْ لِحْيَتَهُ وَلْيَمْسَحْ شَفَتَيْهِ؛ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ إِلَى النَّاسِ يَقُولُونَ لَيْسَ بِصَائِمٍ
[Machine] A woman said to Jesus, ﷺ , while he was making something out of what had been given to him, "Blessed is the belly that carried you and blessed is the breast that nursed you." Jesus replied, "And blessed is the one who reads the book of God and follows what is in it."
قَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ لِعِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَهُوَ يَصْنَعُ مِمَّا قَدْ أُعْطِيَ وَسُخِّرَ لَهُ طُوبَى لِبَطْنٍ حَمَلَتْكَ وَطُوبَى لِثَدْيٍ أَرْضَعَتْكَ فَقَالَ عِيسَى وَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهَا طُوبَى لِمَنْ قَرَأَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَاتَّبَعَ مَا فِيهِ
[Machine] A woman passed by Jesus, ﷺ , and she said, "Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed you." Jesus said, "Blessed is the one who reads the Quran and acts upon what is in it."
مَرَّتِ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَتْ طُوبَى لِثَدْيٍ أَرْضَعَكَ وَحِجْرٍ حَمَلَكَ قَالَ عِيسَى طُوبَى لِمَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ عَمِلَ بِمَا فِيهِ
[Machine] Allah ﷻ inspired Jesus ﷺ , saying, "O Jesus, indeed I have bestowed upon you the love of the needy and their mercy; you love them and they love you. They are satisfied with you as their imam and leader, and you are satisfied with them as your companions and followers, and both of you have good character. Know that whoever meets me with them, meets me with the most noble of deeds, and it is beloved to me."
أَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَى عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا عِيسَى إِنِّي قَدْ وَهَبْتُ لَكَ حُبَّ الْمَسَاكِينِ وَرَحْمَتَهُمْ؛ تُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَكَ وَيَرْضَوْنَ بِكَ إِمَامًا وَقَائِدًا وَتَرْضَى بِهِمْ صَحَابَةً وَتَبَعًا وَهُمَا خُلُقَانِ اعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ مَنْ لَقِيَنِي بِهِمَا لَقِيَنِي بِأَزْكَى الْأَعْمَالِ وَأَحَبِّهَا إِلَيَّ
[Machine] When Jesus - ﷺ - mentioned the Hour, he would cry out, like a woman crying out.
«كَانَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِذَا ذَكَرَ السَّاعَةَ صَاحَ؛ كَمَا تَصِيحُ الْمَرْأَةُ»
[Machine] Jesus, may ﷺ , used to raise his voice and say, "It is not appropriate for the son of Mary to be mentioned in relation to the Hour, so keep quiet."
كَانَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِذَا ذُكِرَتْ عِنْدَهُ السَّاعَةُ صَاحَ وَقَالَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِابْنِ مَرْيَمَ أَنْ تُذْكَرَ عِنْدَهُ السَّاعَةُ فَيَسْكُتَ
[Machine] "Jesus son of Mary, O disciples, which of you is able to build a house on the waves of the sea?" They said, "O Spirit of God, who can do that?" He said, "Beware of the world, so do not take it as a residence."
عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ أَيُّكُمْ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَبْنِيَ عَلَى مَوْجِ الْبَحْرِ دَارًا؟ قَالُوا يَا رُوحُ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ يَقْدِرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالدُّنْيَا فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوهَا قَرَارًا
[Machine] Jesus, son of Mary, ﷺ , used to say with truth: I say to you that eating the bread of barley and drinking pure water and sleeping on the ground with the dogs is much for the one who wishes to inherit paradise.
أَنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ كَانَ يَقُولُ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنَّ أَكْلَ خُبْزِ الْبُرِّ وَشُرْبَ الْمَاءِ الْعَذْبِ وَنَوْمًا عَلَى الْمَزَابِلِ مَعَ الْكلَابِ كَثِيرٌ لِمَنْ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَرِثَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ
[Machine] "Jesus, son of Mary, said: 'It does not benefit you to know what you do not know, and to not act upon what you have learned. Indeed, an abundance of knowledge only increases arrogance if it is not acted upon."
أَنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِنَافِعِكَ أَنْ تَعْلَمَ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمْ وَلَمَّا تَعْمَلْ بِمَا قَدْ عَلِمْتَ؛ إِنَّ كَثْرَةَ الْعِلْمِ لَا تَزِيدُ إِلَّا كِبْرًا إِذَا لَمْ تَعْمَلْ بِهِ
[Machine] I have been informed that Jesus, son of Mary, said that time revolves around three days. Yesterday, it has gone and you were advised with it. Today, it increases you. And tomorrow, you do not know what will happen to you. And matters revolve around three things: a matter that its guidance is clear for you, so follow it; a matter that its misguidance is clear for you, so avoid it; and a matter that is difficult for you, so leave it to Allah.
بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ قَالَ الدَّهْرُ يَدُورُ عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ أَمْسِ خَلَا وُعِظْتَ بِهِ وَالْيَوْمَ زَادُكَ فِيهِ وَغَدًا لَا تَدْرِي مَا لَكَ فِيهِ وَالْأُمُورُ تَدُورُ عَلَى ثَلَاثَةٍ أَمْرٌ بَانَ لَكَ رُشْدُهُ فَاتَّبِعْهُ وَأَمْرٌ بَانَ لَكَ غَيُّهُ فَاجْتَنِبْهُ وَأَمْرٌ أَشْكَلَ عَلَيْكَ فَكِلْهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ
[Machine] "Ask me, Jesus, son of Mary, for my heart is gentle and I am humble in myself."
عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ سَلُونِي فَإِنَّ قَلْبِي لَيِّنٌ وَإِنِّي صَغِيرٌ فِي نَفْسِي
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "Ask me for, indeed I am gentle-hearted and humble."
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ سَلُونِي فَإِنِّي لَيِّنُ الْقَلْبِ صَغِيرٌ عِنْدَ نَفْسِي
[Machine] A man came to Jesus, son of Mary, and said, "O teacher of goodness, teach me something that I know not, which will benefit me and not harm you." Jesus asked, "What is it?" The man said, "How can one be truly pious towards Allah?" Jesus replied, "It is easy; you must truly love Allah from your heart, and work for Him with all your dedication and strength, as much as you are able. Show mercy to the people of your kind, just as Allah has shown mercy to you." The man asked, "O teacher of goodness, who are the people of my kind?" Jesus answered, "All of Adam's children are your kind. If there is something that you would not like to happen to you, then do not do it to others. By doing so, you will truly be pious towards Allah."
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَلِّمَ الْخَيْرِ عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا تَعْلَمُهُ وَأَجْهَلُهُ وَيَنْفَعُنِي وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ قَالَ مَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ تَقِيًّا لِلَّهِ ﷻ حَقًّا؟ قَالَ بِيَسِيرٍ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ؛ تُحِبُّ اللَّهَ حَقًّا مِنْ قَلْبِكَ وَتَعْمَلُ لَهُ بِكُدُودِكَ وَقُوَّتِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ وَتَرْحَمُ بَنِي جِنْسِكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ نَفْسَكَ قَالَ يَا مُعَلِّمَ الْخَيْرِ وَمَنْ بَنُو جِنْسِي؟ قَالَ «وَلَدُ آدَمَ كُلُّهُمْ وَمَا لَا تُحِبُّ أَنْ يُؤْتَى إِلَيْكَ فَلَا تَأْتِهِ إِلَى غَيْرِكَ؛ فَأَنْتَ تَقِيٌّ لِلَّهِ حَقًّا»
[Machine] Jesus, ﷺ , used to make food for his companions and then invite them to sit with him. He would then say, "This is how you should do it with the Qur'an."
كَانَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَصْنَعُ الطَّعَامَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ ثُمَّ يَدْعُوهُمْ فَيَقُومُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا فَاصْنَعُوا بِالْقِرَاءِ
[Machine] Jesus son of Mary, to the disciples, truly I say to you, and Jesus often used to say truly I say to you, indeed the strongest of you in love for the world is the most anxious of you in times of calamity.
عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ وَكَانَ عِيسَى كَثِيرًا مَا يَقُولُ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنَّ أَشَدَّكُمْ حُبًّا لِلدُّنْيَا أَشَدُّكُمْ جَزَعًا عَلَى الْمُصِيبَةِ
[Machine] The disciples said, "O Jesus, who are the allies of Allah?". Jesus replied, "Those who are not afraid or saddened." Those who looked beyond the outward appearances of the world while others focused on them, and those who considered the future of the world while others only looked to the present. They accepted death from the world in order to avoid death from it, and they left behind what they knew would abandon them. As a result, they gained independence from the world and forgot about it. Their joy at what they had gained from the world turned into sorrow. They rejected the worldly gains that were offered to them, and they refused any elevation or position that was not obtained through righteousness. They considered the world to be insignificant, so they did not try to renew it. It fell apart among them, and they did not try to rebuild it. It died in their hearts, and they did not revive it. They destroyed it, and they built their eternal life with it. They sold it, and they bought whatever remained for them. They rejected it, and they were happy with that rejection. They looked at its people with pity, as the similitudes had been exhausted among them. They revived the remembrance of death, while forgetting the remembrance of life. They loved Allah, and they loved to remember Him. They shone with His light, and they illuminated with it. They had strange news, and they possessed marvelous knowledge. They were mentioned in the astonishing news, and they were the ones who established it. The book stood with them, and they stood with it. The book spoke through them, and they spoke through it. They were taught by the book, and they learned from it. They did not see any worldly gains along with what they gained, nor did they have any security apart from what they hoped for. They had no fear except for what they were wary of.
الْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَا عِيسَى مَنْ أَوْلِيَاءُ اللَّهِ ﷻ الَّذِينَ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ؟ قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ الَّذِينَ نَظَرُوا إِلَى بَاطِنِ الدُّنْيَا حِينَ نَظَرَ النَّاسُ إِلَى ظَاهِرِهَا وَالَّذِينَ نَظَرُوا إِلَى آجِلِ الدُّنْيَا حِينَ نَظَرَ النَّاسُ إِلَى عَاجِلِهَا فَأَمَاتُوا مِنْهَا مَا يَخْشَوْنَ أَنْ يُمِيتَهُمْ وَتَرَكُوا مَا عَلِمُوا أَنْ سَيَتْرُكَهُمْ؛ فَصَارَ اسْتِكْثَارُهُمْ مِنْهَا اسْتِقْلَالًا وَذِكْرُهُمْ إِيَّاهَا فَوَاتًا وَفَرَحُهُمْ بِمَا أَصَابُوا مِنْهَا حَزَنًا؛ فَمَا عَارَضَهُمْ مِنْ نَائِلِهَا رَفَضُوهُ وَمَا عَارَضَهُمْ مِنْ رِفْعَتِهَا بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَضَعُوهُ وَخَلِقَتِ الدُّنْيَا عِنْدَهُمْ فَلَيْسُوا يُجَدِّدُونَهَا وَخَرِبَتْ بَيْنَهُمْ فَلَيْسُوا يَعْمُرُونَهَا وَمَاتَتْ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ فَلَيْسُوا يُحْيُونَهَا يَهْدِمُونَهَا فَيَبْنُونَ بِهَا آخِرَتَهُمْ وَيَبِيعُونَهَا فَيَشْتَرُونَ بِهَا مَا يَبْقَى لَهُمْ وَرَفَضُوهَا فَكَانُوا فِيهَا هُمُ الْفَرِحِينَ وَنَظَرُوا إِلَى أَهْلِهَا صَرْعَى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِيهِمُ الْمَثُلَاتُ وَأَحْيَوْا ذِكْرَ الْمَوْتِ وَأَمَاتُوا ذِكْرَ الْحَيَاةِ يُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ وَيُحِبُّونَ ذِكْرَهُ وَيَسْتَضِيئُونَ بْنُورِهِ وَيُضِيئُونَ بِهِ لَهُمْ خَبَرٌ عَجِيبٌ وَعِنْدَهُمُ الْخَبَرُ الْعَجِيبُ بِهِمْ قَامَ الْكِتَابُ وَبِهِ قَامُوا وَبِهِمْ نَطَقَ الْكِتَابُ وَبِهِ نَطَقُوا وَبِهِمْ عُلِّمَ الْكِتَابُ وَبِهِ عَلِمُوا وَلَيْسُوا يَرَوْنَ نَائِلًا مَعَ مَا نَالُوا وَلَا أَمَانًا دُونَ مَا يَرْجُونَ وَلَا خَوْفًا دُونَ مَا يَحْذَرُونَ
[Machine] Yahya and Isa, peace be upon them, used to come to the village and Isa, ﷺ , would ask about the worst of its people, while Yahya would ask about the best of its people. It was said to him, "Why do you not come down to the worst of people?" He said, "I am a doctor, I heal the sick."
كَانَ يَحْيَى وَعِيسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ يَأْتِيَانِ الْقَرْيَةَ فَيَسَأَلَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَنْ شِرَارِ أَهْلِهَا وَيَسْأَلُ يَحْيَى عَنْ خِيَارِ أَهْلِهَا فَيُقَالُ لَهُ لِمَ تَنْزِلُ عَلَى شِرَارِ النَّاسِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا طَبِيبٌ أُدَاوِي الْمَرْضَى
[Machine] Isa ﷺ was presented with a man who had committed adultery. He commanded them to stone him and said to them, "No man should stone him except the one who has never sinned. So they threw the stones from their hands, except for Yahya bin Zakaria (peace be upon them both)."
أُتِي عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ زَنَا فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِرَجْمِهِ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ لَا يَرْجُمُهُ رَجُلٌ عَمِلَ عَمَلَهُ فَأَلْقَوُا الْحِجَارَةَ مِنْ أَيْدِيهِمْ إِلَّا يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ
[Machine] "The fugitives who fled for their religion will be gathered together to Jesus, ﷺ , on the Day of Judgment."
«الْفَرَّارُونَ بِدِينِهِمْ يُجْمَعُونَ إِلَى عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»
[Machine] Jesus son of Mary said, "Leave the people so that they may be at ease with you, and let yourself be occupied. Leave them, do not seek their praises, nor earn their blame, and focus on what you have been entrusted with."
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ «دَعِ النَّاسَ فَلْيَكُونُوا مِنْكَ فِي رَاحَةٍ وَلْتَكُنْ نَفْسُكَ مِنْكَ فِي شُغُلٍ؛ دَعْهُمْ فَلَا تَلْتَمِسْ مَحَامِدَهُمْ وَلَا تَكْسِبْ مَذَامَّهُمْ وَعَلَيْكَ بِمَا وُكِّلْتَ بِهِ»
[Machine] "Allah, the Most Blessed and Exalted, revealed to Jesus, 'Make me like you, make me a treasure for your return, and rely on me, for I am sufficient for you. Do not turn to anyone other than me, as I will support you.'"
أَوْحَى اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى عِيسَى اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ نَفْسِكَ كَهَمِّكَ اجْعَلْنِي ذُخْرًا لِمَعَادِكَ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَيَّ أَكْفِكَ وَلَا تَوَلَّ غَيْرِي فَأَخْذُلَكَ
[Machine] Jesus ﷺ set out to visit his brother, and a man approached him and said, "Your brother has died." So Jesus returned, and he heard the daughters of his brother complaining about his absence, so they came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, your absence from us is harder on us than the death of our father." He said, "Then let us go and I will show you his grave." So they set out until he showed them his grave. He said, "Is it not so-and-so?" They said, "Yes." He said, "So what do you see in me?" They said, "We heard your voice and thought it was a cry." He said, "And does his wife see what I have done and hear?" She said, "Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed you." Jesus said, "Blessed is the one whom Allah has taught His book and then he did not die as a transgressor."
انْطَلَقَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَزُورُ أَخًا لَهُ فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُ إِنْسَانٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخَاكَ قَدْ مَاتَ فَرَجَعَ فَسَمِعَ بَنَاتُ أَخِيهِ بِرِجُوعِهِ عَنْهُنَّ فَأَتَيْنَهُ فَقُلْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رُجُوعُكَ عَنَّا أَشَدُّ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ مَوْتِ أَبِينَا قَالَ فَانْطَلِقْنَ فَأَرِينِي قَبْرَهُ فَانْطَلَقْنَ حَتَّى أَرَيْنَهُ قَبْرَهُ قَالَ وَصَوْتٌ بِهِ فَخَرَجَ وَهُوَ أَشْيَبُ فَقَالَ أَلَسْتَ فُلَانًا؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ فَمَاذَا الَّذِي أَرَى بِكَ؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَكَ فَحَسِبْتُهُ الصَّيْحَةَ قَالَ وَامْرَأَتُهُ تَرَى مَا صَنَعَ وَتَسْمَعُ قَالَتْ طُوبَى لِبَطْنٍ لَبِثْتَ فِيهِ وَثَدْيَيْنِ رَضِعْتَهُمَا قَالَ عِيسَى طُوبَى لِمَنْ عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ ﷻ كِتَابَهُ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَمُتْ جَبَّارًا
[Machine] Isa ibn Maryam said to the disciples, "Just as the kings have left you wisdom, so leave them the world."
عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ كَمَا تَرَكَ لَكُمُ الْمُلُوكُ الْحِكْمَةَ فَدَعُوا لَهُمُ الدُّنْيَا
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , said to his disciples, "O assembly of disciples, do not cast pearls before swine, for they will not benefit from it. And do not give wisdom to those who do not desire it, for wisdom is better than pearls, and those who do not desire it are worse than swine."
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ لَا تُلْقُوا اللُّؤْلُؤَ لِلْخِنْزِيرِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَصْنَعُ بِهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُعْطُوا الْحِكْمَةَ مَنْ لَا يُرِيدُهَا؛ فَإِنَّ الْحِكْمَةَ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللُّؤْلُؤِ وَمَنْ لَا يُرِيدُهَا أَشَرُّ مِنَ الْخِنْزِيرِ
[Machine] Isa ibn Maryam, ﷺ , said to the readers, "O people of the earth, do not corrupt (or spoil); for when something is corrupted, only salt can fix it. And when salt itself is corrupted, nothing can fix it."
عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لِلْقُرَّاءِ يَا مِلْحَ الْأَرْضِ لَا تَفْسُدُوا؛ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْءَ إِذَا فَسَدَ إِنَّمَا يُصْلِحُهُ الْمِلْحُ وَإِنَّ الْمِلْحَ إِذَا فَسَدَ لَمْ يُصْلِحْهُ شَيْءٍ
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , said, "I only teach you so that you may act, not to be amazed, O salt of the earth, and not to corrupt. For when something is corrupted, it can only be fixed with salt, and if salt is corrupted, it cannot be fixed with anything. And do not take from those you teach any reward except like what I have taken from you."
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ﷺ إِنَّمَا أُعَلِّمُكُمْ لِتَعْمَلُوا لَيْسَ لِتُعْجَبُوا يَا مِلْحَ الْأَرْضِ وَلَا تَفْسُدُوا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْءَ إِذَا فَسَدَ إِنَّمَا يُصْلَحُ بِالْمِلْحِ وَإِنَّ الْمِلْحَ إِذَا فَسَدَ لَمْ يُصْلَحْ بِشَيْءٍ وَلَا تَأْخُذُوا مِمَّنْ تُعَلِّمُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ إِلَّا مِثْلَ الَّذِي أَخَذْتُ مِنْكُمْ
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , said to his disciples, "You should live on barley bread and leave this world in safety and security. Truly, I tell you, the sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the hereafter, and the bitterness in this world is the sweetness in the hereafter. Indeed, the servants of Allah are not indulgers. Truly, I tell you, the worst of your actions is when a knowledgeable person loves this world and prioritizes it over their actions. If he had the power, he would make the people all like him in his actions."
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِخُبْزِ الشَّعِيرِ وَاخْرُجُوا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِمِينَ آمِنِينَ؛ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنَّ حَلَاوَةَ الدُّنْيَا مَرَارَةُ الْآخِرَةِ وَإِنَّ مَرَارَةً فِي الدُّنْيَا حَلَاوَةٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ وَإِنَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ لَيْسُوا بِالْمُتَنَعِّمِينَ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنَّ شَرَّكُمْ عَمَلًا عَالِمٌ يُحِبُّ الدُّنْيَا فَيُؤْثِرُهَا عَلَى عَمَلِهِ إِنَّهُ لَوْ يَسْتَطِيعُ جَعَلَ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ فِي عَمَلِهِ مِثْلَهُ
[Machine] The Messiah, the son of Mary, ﷺ , said, "Not as I will, but as you will. Not as I desire, but as you desire."
قَالَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لَيْسَ كَمَا أُرِيدُ وَلَكِنْ كَمَا تُرِيدُ وَلَيْسَ كَمَا أَشَاءُ وَلَكِنْ كَمَا تَشَاءُ
[Machine] We were told about Jesus, son of Mary, ﷺ , saying, "Indeed, Satan is with the world, and his plots are with wealth, and his embellishments are with desires, and his fulfillment is through passions."
حُدِّثْنَا عَنْ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ «إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ مَعَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَكْرُهُ مَعَ الْمَالِ وَتَزْيِينُهُ عِنْدَ الْهَوَى وَاسْتِكْمَالُهُ عِنْدَ الشَّهَوَاتِ»
[Machine] No one knew anyone more resembling Jesus, the son of Mary, than Abu Dharr.
لَمْ يُعْلَمْ أَحَدٌ أَشَدَّ تَشَبُّهًا بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ مِنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most beloved thing to Allah is the strangers." It was said, "Who are the strangers?" He said, "Those who flee for the sake of their religion. Allah will resurrect them on the Day of Judgment with Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ ." Abu Abdur-Rahman heard Sufyan ibn Waki' saying, "I hope that Ahmad ibn Hanbal will be among them."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَحَبُّ شَيْءٍ إِلَى اللَّهِ الْغُرَبَاءُ» قِيلَ وَمَنِ الْغُرَبَاءُ؟ قَالَ الْفَرَّارُونَ بِدِينِهِمْ؛ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ ﷻ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَعَ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ وَكِيعٍ يَقُولُ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ مِنْهُمْ
[Machine] I heard Wahb bin Munabbih saying about the books of the disciples that if the path of the people of affliction is taken by you, then know that the path of the prophets and the righteous has been taken by you. And if the path of the people of prosperity is taken by you, then know that you have taken a path other than theirs and have deviated from their way.
سَمِعْتُ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ يَقُولُ فِي كُتُبِ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ إِذَا سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلُ أَهْلِ الْبَلَاءِ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَإِذَا سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلُ أَهْلِ الرَّخَاءِ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلٌ غَيْرُ سَبِيلِهِمْ وَخُلِّفَ بِكَ عَنْ طَرِيقِهِمْ
[Machine] I said, O Amir al-Muminin, I am amazed by the beauty of your complexion, the sweetness of your body, and the softness of your hair. He said, How would it be if you were to see me after three (days) and I have been turned in my grave, and my eyeballs have mingled with my cheeks, and pus and worms are flowing from my throat? You would have found it more repugnant to speak to that visage and try to have a conversation with it! I was informed by Ibn Abbas that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, one of the most noble gatherings is the one in which the qibla is faced (i.e., towards Makkah). And do not pray behind someone who is sleeping or talking, and do not buy goods with forbidden wealth, and kill the snake and the scorpion even if you are in your prayer. And whoever looks at his brother's book without his permission, then he is only looking at the fire." He also said, "Whoever wants to be the strongest among the people, let him rely on Allah. And whoever wants to be the most honored among the people, let him fear Allah. And whoever wants to be the richest among the people, let him be content with the provision of Allah." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you about the worst of your companions?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The one who causes disturbance when he is alone, and withholds assistance, and beats his slave." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you about worse than that?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Those who do not remove obstacles (that cause harm), do not forgive sins, and do not accept excuses." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you about worse than that?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Those whose evil you fear but from whom you do not expect any good. Verily, Jesus, son of Mary, stood among the children of Israel and said, 'O Children of Israel, Speak in accordance with wisdom in the presence of the ignorant, so that you will not oppress it, and do not withhold it from its people, so that you will not oppress them. And do not oppress one another, and do not punish the wrongdoer with injustice, lest your excellence is nullified. Verily, affairs are only of three types: one in which you clearly hold the truth, so follow it; one in which you clearly recognize falsehood, so avoid it; and one in which there is difference, so refer it back to Allah."
قُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعْجَبَنِي مَا حَالَ مِنْ لَوْنِكَ وَنَحَلَ مِنْ جِسْمِكَ وَنُفِيَ مِنْ شَعْرِكَ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَيْتَنِي بَعْدَ ثَلَاثَةٍ وَقَدْ دُلِّيتُ فِي حُفْرَتِي أَوْ فِي قَبْرِي وَسَالَتْ حَدَقَتِي عَلَى وَجْنَتَيَّ وَسَالَ مِنْخَرِي صَدِيدًا وَدُودًا كُنْتَ لِي أَشَدَّ نُكْرَةً حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا نَحْفَظُهُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ أَشْرَفِ الْمَجَالِسِ مَا اسْتُقْبِلَ بِهِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا تُصَلُّوا خَلْفَ نَائِمٍ وَلَا مُتَحَدِّثٍ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا الْحُرَرَ بِالثِّيَابِ وَاقْتُلوا الْحَيَّةَ وَالْعَقْرَبَ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي صَلَاتِكُمْ وَمَنْ نَظَرَ فِي كِتَابِ أَخِيهِ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ فَإِنَّمَا يَنْظُرُ فِي النَّارِ»
وَقَالَ: "مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَقْوَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ﷻ، وَمَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَكْرَمَ النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللَّهَ، وَمَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَغْنَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَكْتَفِ بِرِزْقِ اللَّهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشِرَارِكُمْ؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: الَّذِي يَنْزِلُ وَحْدَهُ ويَمْنَعُ رِفْدَهُ وَيَجْلِدُ عَبْدَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: «الَّذِي يَبْغَضُ النَّاسَ وَيَبْغَضُونَهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الَّذِينَ لَا يُقِيلُونَ عَثْرَةً وَلَا يَغْفِرُونَ ذَنْبًا وَلَا يَقْبَلُونَ مَعْذِرَةً» ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ هَذَا قُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: " مَنْ خِيفَ شَرُّهُ وَلَمْ يُرْجَ خَيْرُهُ إِنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ قَامَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ َالَ: يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ َا تَكَلَّمُوا بِالْحِكْمَةِ عِنْدَ الْجُهَّالِ فَتَظْلِمُوهَا وَلَا تَمْنَعُوهَا أَهْلَهَا فَتَظْلِمُوهُمْ، وَلَا تَظْلِمُوا بَيْنَكُمْ وَلَا تُعَاقِبُوا ظَالِمًا بِظُلْمِهِ فَيَبْطُلَ فَضْلُكُمْ إِنَّمَا الْأُمُورُ ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَمْرٌ بَيِّنٌ لَكَ رُشْدُهُ فَاتَّبِعْهُ، وَأَمْرٌ بَيِّنٌ لَكَ غَيُّهُ فَاجْتَنِبْهُ، وَأَمْرٌ اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ فَرُدَّهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ﷻ
[Machine] Jesus, the son of Mary, ﷺ , used to say, "Indeed, kindness is not that you show kindness to those who are kind to you. Rather, kindness is that you show kindness to those who have treated you poorly."
كَانَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْإِحْسَانَ لَيْسَ أَنْ تُحْسِنَ إِلَى مَنْ أَحْسَنَ إِلَيْكَ إِنَّمَا تِلْكَ مُكَافَأَةٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلَكِنَّ الْإِحْسَانَ أَنْ تُحْسِنَ إِلَى مَنْ أَسَاءَ إِلَيْكَ
[Machine] Jesus ﷺ passed by a man from the village of Afik with one of his disciples. Another man came and blocked their path, saying, "I will not let you pass until I slapping each one of you." Jesus turned to his disciple and said, "Let him slap my cheek." The man did so and then cleared their path. He then said to the disciple, "I will not let you pass until I slap your cheek." When Jesus saw this, he granted permission for the man to slap the disciple's cheek and they were allowed to continue on their way. Jesus ﷺ said, "O Allah, if this is pleasing to You, then make it known to me. And if it displeases You, then indeed, You have more knowledge of my sincerity."
أَنَّ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ مَرَّ بِعَقَبَةِ أَفِيقٍ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ حَوَارِيِّيهِ فَاعْتَرَضَهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَمَنَعَهُمُ الطَّرِيقَ وَقَالَ لَا أَتْرُكُكُمَا تَجُوزَانِ حَتَّى أَلْطِمَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمَا لَطْمَةً فَأَدَارَاهُ فَأَبَى إِلَّا ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ عِيسَى أَمَّا خَدِّي فَالْطِمْهُ قَالَ فَلَطَمَهُ فَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ وَقَالَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّ لَا أَدَعُكَ تَجُوزُ حَتَّى أَلْطِمَكَ فَتَمَنَّعَ فَلَمَّا رَأَى عِيسَى ذَلِكَ أَعْطَاهُ خَدَّهُ الْآخَرَ فَلَطَمَهُ فَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُمَا فَقَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا لَكَ رِضًى فَبَلِّغْنِي رِضَاكَ وَإِنْ كَانَ سَخَطًا فَإِنَّكَ أَوْلَى بِالْغَيْرَةِ
[Machine] Jesus, son of Mary, ﷺ , used to say, "O Allah, I have woken up this morning without possessing what I hope for, nor am I able to ward off what I fear. The matter is not in my hands, and I have become dependent on my actions. There is no one poorer than me."
كَانَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ لَا أَمْلِكُ مَا أَرْجُو وَلَا أَسْتَطِيعُ دَفْعَ مَا أُحَاذِرُ وَأَصْبَحَ الْأَمْرُ بِيَدِ غَيْرِي وَأَصْبَحْتُ مُرْتَهَنًا بِعَمَلِي وَلَا فَقِيرَ أَفْقَرُ مِنِّي»
[Machine] "O Allah, I have become unable to repel what I dislike and I have no control over what I hope for. The matter is no longer in my hands and I have become dependent on my own actions. No one is poorer than me, so do not make my enemies rejoice over me, do not hurt my friends because of me, and do not make my affliction in my religion. Do not let one who does not show mercy towards me have power over me."
أَنَّ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ دَفْعَ مَا أَكْرَهُ وَلَا أَمْلِكُ نَفْعَ مَا [80] أَرْجُو وَأَصْبَحَ الْأَمْرُ بِيَدِ غَيْرِي وَأَصْبَحْتُ مُرْتَهَنًا بِعَمَلِي فَلَا فَقِيرَ أَفْقَرُ مِنِّي لَا تُشْمِتْ بِي عَدِوِّي وَلَا تَسُؤْ بِي صَدِيقِي وَلَا تَجْعَلْ مُصِيبَتِي فِي دِينِي وَلَا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيَّ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُنِي
