[Machine] I heard Wahb bin Munabbih saying about the books of the disciples that if the path of the people of affliction is taken by you, then know that the path of the prophets and the righteous has been taken by you. And if the path of the people of prosperity is taken by you, then know that you have taken a path other than theirs and have deviated from their way.  

الزهد لأحمد:٢٩٦حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أبِي حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُنْذِرٌ الْأَفْطَسُ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ يَقُولُ فِي كُتُبِ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ إِذَا سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلُ أَهْلِ الْبَلَاءِ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَإِذَا سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلُ أَهْلِ الرَّخَاءِ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ سُلِكَ بِكَ سَبِيلٌ غَيْرُ سَبِيلِهِمْ وَخُلِّفَ بِكَ عَنْ طَرِيقِهِمْ
