[Machine] I saw a Muslim in prostration saying, "When will I meet You while You are pleased with me?" He then goes on to make supplication and says, "When will I meet You while You are pleased with me?"
رَأَيْتُ مُسْلِمًا وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ مَتَى أَلْقَاكَ وَأَنْتَ عَنِّي رَاضٍ وَيَذْهَبُ فِي الدُّعَاءِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ مَتَى أَلْقَاكَ وَأَنْتَ عَنِّي رَاضٍ
أَنْ آخُذَ كِتَابِي بِيَمِينِي»
[Machine] "Separate between me and you, this is the strongest of what one can say."
«فَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ هَذَا أَشَدُّ مَا يَقُولُ»
[Machine] I heard my father and Talhah, a visually impaired man, saying, "There used to be a Muslim who never turned away a person who asked him a question."
سَمِعْتُ أَبِي وَطَلْحَةَ رَجُلٌ بَصَرِيٌّ يَقُولَانِ «كَانَ مُسْلِمٌ لَا يَرُدُّ سَائِلًا»
[Machine] I fell ill and did not find anything more reliable within myself than a group of people whom I loved only for the sake of Allah.
«مَرِضْتُ مَرْضَةً فَلَمْ أَجِدْ شَيْئًا أَوْثَقَ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ قَوْمٍ كُنْتُ أُحِبُّهُمْ لَا أُحِبُّهُمْ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ﷻ»
[Machine] "A Muslim used to say to his family, 'If you have any need, speak up, and I will pray.'"
أَنَّ مُسْلِمًا كَانَ يَقُولُ لِأَهْلِهِ «إِذَا كَانَتْ لَكُمْ حَاجَةٌ فَتَكَلَّمُوا وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي»
[Machine] "I used to pray in my shoes, and taking them off is easier for me. I only do this to follow the Sunnah."
«إِنِّي لَأُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلِي وَخَلْعُهُمَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَيَّ وَمَا أَطْلُبُ بِذَلِكَ إِلَّا السُّنَّةَ»
[Machine] On the day of resurrection, the servant will be brought and will be stood before Allah. Then He will say, "Examine his good deeds." So, they will look at his good deeds but will not find any. Then He will say, "Examine his bad deeds." So, they will find many bad deeds for him. Then he will be commanded to go to the Hellfire, but he will turn around and say, "Return me, what are you looking at?" Then he will say, "O Lord, this was not my intention or hope." Ibrahim will say, "You have spoken the truth." Then he will be commanded to go to Paradise.
أَنَّهُ يُؤْتَى بِالْعَبْدِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُوقَفُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ اللَّهِ ﷻ فَيَقُولُ انْظُرُوا فِي حَسَنَاتِهِ فَيَنْظُرُوا فِي حَسَنَاتِهِ فَلَا يُوجَدُ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ فَيَقُولُ انْظُرُوا فِي سَيِّئَاتِهِ فَيُوجَدُ لَهُ سَيِّئَاتٌ كَثِيرَةٌ فَيُؤْمَرُ بِهِ إِلَى النَّارِ وَهُوَ يَلْتَفِتُ فَيَقُولُ رُدُّوهُ إِلَيَّ مَا تَلْتَفِتُ؟ فَيَقُولُ أَيْ رَبِّ لَمْ يَكُنْ هَذَا ظَنِّي أوْ رَجَائِي شَكَّ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَيَقُولُ صَدَقْتَ فَيُؤْمَرُ بِهِ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ
[Machine] The people started talking among themselves and said, "Indeed, when a person is afflicted with a disease, his good deeds are raised for him while he is still healthy until he is lifted up." A Muslim said, "This is not how we used to hear, but what is raised for him is the best of what he used to do until he is lifted up."
فَتَحَدَّثَ النَّاسُ بَيْنَهُمْ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ إِذَا احْتُبِسَ بِمَرَضٍ رُفِعَ لَهُ مَا كَانَ يَعْمَلُ وَهُوَ صَحِيحٌ حَتَّى يُرْفَعَ فَقَالَ مُسْلِمٌ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ وَلَكِنْ يُرْفَعُ لَهُ أَحْسَنُ مَا كَانَ يَعْمَلُ حَتَّى يُرْفَعَ
[Machine] He heard me while I say "I seek refuge in the All-Hearing, All-Knowing from the cursed devil. Indeed, Allah is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing." Abdullah said, and my father taught me, he said, say this.
سَمِعَنِي وَأَنَا أَقُولُ أَعُوذُ بِالسَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَعَلَّمَنِي أَبِي قَالَ هَكَذَا قُلْ
[Machine] I said, "I do not have many deeds except that I hope in Allah and fear Him." He raised his head towards me like a terrified person and said, "How did you say?" I said, "I do not have many great deeds except that I hope in Allah and fear Him." He said, "Whatever Allah wills, whatever Allah wills. Whoever fears something, he takes precautions against it, and whoever hopes for something, he seeks it. And I do not know what is sufficient for a servant who is exposed to a desire and does not leave it due to fear? Or he is afflicted with a trial and does not have patience upon it due to what he hopes for?" Muawiya said, "So I have purified myself and yet I do not know."
قُلْتُ مَا عِنْدِي مِنْ كَثِيرِ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا أَنِّي أَرْجُو اللَّهَ ﷻ وَأَخَافُ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَيَّ كَالْمَذْعُورِ فَقَالَ لِي كَيْفَ قُلْتَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا عِنْدِي مِنْ كَبِيرِ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا أَنِّي أَرْجُو اللَّهَ ﷻ وَأَخَافُ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَنْ خَافَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ حَذِرَ مِنْهُ وَمَنْ رَجَا شَيْئًا طَلَبَهُ وَمَا أَدْرِي مَا حَسْبُ خَوْفِ عَبْدٍ عَرَضَتْ لَهُ شَهْوَةٌ فَلَمْ يَدَعْهَا لِمَا يَخَافُ؟ أَوِ ابْتُلِيَ بِبَلَاءٍ فَلَمْ يَصْبِرْ عَلَيْهِ لِمَا يَرْجُو؟ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَإِذًا أَنَا قَدْ زَكَّيْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَنَا لَا أَعْلَمُ
[Machine] Muslim ibn Yasār was standing and praying when a fire broke out next to him, but he did not feel it until the fire was extinguished.
أَنَّ مُسْلِمَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ كَانَ قَائِمًا يُصَلِّي فَوَقَعَ حَرِيقٌ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ فَمَا شَعَرَ بِهِ حَتَّى أُطْفِئَتِ النَّارُ
[Machine] "I don't know how the belief of a servant is, who does not leave anything disliked by Allah."
«مَا أَدْرِي مَا حَسْبُ إِيمَانِ عَبْدٍ لَا يَدَعُ شَيْئًا يَكْرَهُهُ اللَّهُ ﷻ؟»
[Machine] That something has entered it which has corrupted it, except for the love for Allah.
أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ دَخَلَهُ شَيْءٌ أَفْسَدَهُ [203] إِلَّا الْحُبَّ فِي اللَّهِ ﷻ»
[Machine] Muslim ibn Yasar said, "Do the work of a man that nothing can save him except his own deeds, and rely on reliance of a man that nothing can affect him except what Allah has written for him."
قَالَ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ «اعْمَلْ عَمَلَ رَجُلٍ لَا يُنْجِيهِ إِلَّا عَمَلُهُ وَتَوَكَّلْ تَوَكُّلَ رَجُلٍ لَا يُصِيبُهُ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ»
[Machine] Jesus, ﷺ , said, "O enemy of Allah, indeed Allah the Blessed and Exalted tests His servant, and the servant does not test his Lord."
عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَبْتَلِي عَبْدَهُ وَالْعَبْدُ لَا يَبْتَلِي رَبَّهُ
[Machine] Abu Talhah Al-Ansari recited Surah Bara'ah. When he came across this verse, "March forth, light and heavy" [Tawbah 41], he said, "I see that our Lord will gather us, the elderly and the young. Prepare me, O my sons." His sons said, "May Allah have mercy on you, you fought alongside the Messenger of Allah until he passed away, then with Abu Bakr until he passed away, and then with Umar. We will fight on your behalf." However, he refused. So they prepared him, and he embarked on the sea and passed away. They could not find an island to bury him on until after seven days, and he did not decompose. So they buried him there.
أَنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ بَرَاءَةٍ فَلَمَّا أَتَى عَلَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {انْفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا} [التوبة 41] قَالَ أَرَى رَبَّنَا ﷻ سَيَسْتَنْفِرُنَا شُيُوخًا وَشُبَّانًا جَهِّزُونِي أَيْ بَنِيَّ فَقَالَ بَنُوهُ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ قَدْ غَزَوْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى مَاتَ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَتَّى مَاتَ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ ؓ فَنَحْنُ نَغْزُو عَنْكَ فَأَبَى فَجَهَّزُوهُ فَرَكِبَ الْبَحْرَ فَمَاتَ فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُ جَزِيرَةً يَدْفِنُوهُ فِيهَا إِلَّا بَعْدَ سَبْعَةِ أَيَّامٍ فَلَمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ فَدَفَنُوهُ فِيهَا
[Machine] Muslim ibn Yasār said, "Beware of disputes, for they are the hour of ignorance of the learned and through them, Satan seeks to cause discord."
قَالَ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ «إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْمِرَاءُ فَإِنَّهَا سَاعَةُ جَهْلِ الْعَالِمِ وَبِهَا يَبْتَغِي الشَّيْطَانُ زَلَّتَهُ»
[Machine] To see you being humble in order for your need to be fulfilled. It was asked, "So where does the sight end in prayer?" He replied, "The place of prostration is sufficient."
أَنْ يَرَاكَ مُتَخَشِّعًا لِتَنْجَحَ لَكَ حَاجَتُكَ قِيلَ فَأَيْنَ مُنْتَهَى الْبَصَرِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ؟ قَالَ مَوْضِعُ السُّجُودِ حَسْبُ
[Machine] I have never seen Muslim bin Yasār praying while turning his head, whether lightly or excessively. One side of the mosque had collapsed, and the people in the marketplace hurried to fix it. He was praying in the mosque, and he did not turn around.
مَا رَأَيْتُ مُسْلِمَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ مُتَلَفِّتًا فِي صَلَاتِهِ قَطُّ خَفِيفَةً وَلَا طَوِيلَةً وَلَقَدِ انْهَدَمَتْ نَاحِيَةُ الْمَسْجِدِ فَفَزِعَ أَهْلُ السُّوقِ لِهَدَّتِهِ وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي صَلَاةٍ فَمَا الْتَفَتَ
مَا سَمِعْتُهُ
«مَا يُدْرِيكُمْ أَيْنَ قَلْبِي»
[Machine] So I saw him stand at the corner, then he approached and faced the mihrab, and he prayed the best prayer. Then he prostrated and I understood nothing from him except that he started saying in his prostration, "Forgive me my sins and what my hands have forwarded," then he cried until the marble turned wet.
فَرَأَيْتُهُ قَامَ عِنْدَ الزَّاوِيَةِ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الرُّخَامَةَ فَصَلَّى أَحْسَنَ الصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَلَمْ أَفْهَمْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ جَعَلَ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ «اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي وَمَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَايَ ثُمَّ بَكَى حَتَّى بَلَّ الْمَرْمَرَ»
[Machine] He curses something to himself and says "If I cursed something, I wouldn't leave it in my house" and says "A friend should not be a curser."
يَلْعَنُ شَيْئًا قَطُّ وَيَقُولُ لَوْ لَعَنْتُ شَيْئًا مَا تَرَكْتُهُ فِي بَيْتِي وَيَقُولُ «لَا يَنْبَغِي لِصِدِّيقٍ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَعَّانًا»
[Machine] They used to say to the man after he recovered from his illness, "May purity be with you."
كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ لِلرَّجُلِ إِذَا بَرِئَ مِنْ مَرَضِهِ «لِيَهْنِكَ الطُّهْرُ»
[Machine] "O Abu Abdullah, I said to my father, 'Doesn't it please you the length of the silence of Abu Abdullah?' He said, 'O my son, speaking the truth is better than keeping silent about it.' Muslim said, 'Keeping silent about falsehood is better than speaking about it.'"
يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قُلْتُ لِأَبِي أَمَا يُعْجِبُكَ طُولُ صَمْتِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؟ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ تَكَلُّمٌ بِحَقٍّ خَيْرٌ مِنْ سُكُوتٍ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ مُسْلِمٌ «سُكُوتٌ عَنِ الْبَاطِلِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ تَكَلُّمٍ بِهِ»
[Machine] "A Muslim would enter the house and the people of the household would remain silent, not speaking. And when he stood up to pray, they would speak and laugh."
«كَانَ مُسْلِمٌ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْمَنْزِلَ سَكَتَ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ فَلَا يُسْمَعُ لَهُمْ كَلَامٌ وَإِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي تَكَلَّمُوا وَضَحِكُوا»
[Machine] And a Muslim in some of the mosques that he moved.
وَمُسْلِمٌ فِي بَعْضِ الْمَسْجِدِ مَا تَحَرَّكَ
[Machine] "That Allah sees me praying to Him while sitting without being sick."
أَنْ يَرَانِيَ اللَّهُ ﷻ أُصَلِّي لَهُ قَاعِدًا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَرَضٍ»
