[Machine] A man from Sham prepared for Hajj and went to sleep. Someone came to him in his dream and said to him, "Go to Iraq, then go to Basra, then go to the Banu Adi and bring Alaa bin Ziyad to me, for he is a man who speaks eloquently" So give him glad tidings of paradise. He said, "A dream is of no significance." He slept again and someone came to him and said, "Why haven't you gone to Iraq and then to Basra?" He mentioned the same thing until the third night when someone came to him with a bunch of grapes and said to him, "Why haven't you gone to Iraq and then to Basra, then to the Banu Adi and meet Alaa bin Ziyad, a man who speaks eloquently?" He said, "Alright, I will go." So he prepared his provisions and set out. When he left his house, he saw the person who came to him in his dream walking in front of him, guiding him along the way. When they arrived in Basra, he went to the Banu Adi and entered the house of Alaa bin Ziyad. A man stood at the door of Alaa bin Ziyad and said, "Peace be upon you, are you Alaa bin Ziyad?" He said, "No." The man said, "Enter, may Allah have mercy on you, and put down your belongings here." He said, "No, where is Alaa bin Ziyad?" He said, "He is in the mosque." Alaa used to sit in the mosque supplicating and talking. So the man approached Alaa, and Alaa smiled and his front tooth became apparent. He said, "By Allah, this is my friend." Alaa said to him, "Why didn't you put down the man's belongings when he entered?" He said, "I told him to, but he refused." Alaa said, "Put them down, may Allah have mercy on you." He said, "Be kind to me." Alaa entered his house and said to Asma (his wife), "Go to the other house." She went and the man entered and gave him glad tidings of the dream, then he left and mounted his ride. Hisham said, "Alaa stood up and closed his door and cried for three or seven days. He would not taste food or drink, nor open his door." Hisham said, "I was afraid that he would die. So I went to Al-Hasan (Al-Basri) and mentioned that to him. I said, "I only see him eating and drinking while crying." Al-Hasan came and struck him and said, "Open the door, my brother." When the man heard the words of Al-Hasan, he stood up and opened the door. Something harmful blazed and Allah knew it. Al-Hasan spoke to him and then said, "May Allah have mercy on you and you are from the people of Paradise, if Allah wills. Will you fight yourself?" Hisham said, "Alaa informed me and Al-Hasan about the dream. He said, "Do not inform anyone about it as long as I am alive."
