[Machine] "O Abu Abdullah, I said to my father, 'Doesn't it please you the length of the silence of Abu Abdullah?' He said, 'O my son, speaking the truth is better than keeping silent about it.' Muslim said, 'Keeping silent about falsehood is better than speaking about it.'"  

الزهد لأحمد:١٤١٥حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ حَدَّثَنَا ضَمْرَةُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمَلَةَ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ عَائِذُ اللَّهِ لِأَبِيهِ يَا أَبَتِ أَمَا يُعْجِبُكَ طُولُ صَمْتِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي مُسْلِمَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ؟ قَالَ أَيْ بُنَيَّ تَكَلُّمٌ بِحَقٍّ خَيْرٌ مِنْ سُكُوتٍ عَنْهُ فَذَهَبَ ابْنُ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ فَقَالَ

يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قُلْتُ لِأَبِي أَمَا يُعْجِبُكَ طُولُ صَمْتِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؟ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ تَكَلُّمٌ بِحَقٍّ خَيْرٌ مِنْ سُكُوتٍ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ مُسْلِمٌ «سُكُوتٌ عَنِ الْبَاطِلِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ تَكَلُّمٍ بِهِ»
