[Machine] Indeed, in the wisdom of Jesus son of Mary peace be upon him, you work for the world while you are provided for in it without any effort, and you do not work for the hereafter while you are not provided for in it except through effort. Woe to you, evil scholars, you take rewards while you waste the work. You are about to leave the world to the darkness of the graves and its narrowness, and Allah has forbidden you from sins as He commanded you to fast and pray. So how can someone of knowledge prefer his worldly life over his hereafter when he is in the world? How can someone of knowledge be focused on his hereafter while he is inclined towards his worldly life? And what harms him is more pleasing to him than what benefits him? How can someone of knowledge be displeased with his provision and despise his status while he knows that this is from the knowledge and power of Allah? How can someone of knowledge accuse Allah in His decree? How can someone of knowledge seek knowledge to speak it, but not seek it to practice it?  

إِنَّ فِي حِكْمَةِ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ تَعْمَلُونَ لِلدُّنْيَا وَأَنْتُمْ تُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ عَمَلٍ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ لِلْآخِرَةِ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا إِلَّا بِالْعَمَلِ وَيْحَكُمْ عُلَمَاءَ السُّوءِ الْأَجْرَ تَأْخُذُونَ وَالْعَمَلَ تُضَيِّعُونَ تُوشِكُونَ أَنْ تَخْرُجُوا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَى ظُلْمَةِ الْقُبُورِ وَضِيقِهَا وَاللَّهُ ﷻ نَهَاكُمْ عَنِ الْمَعَاصِي كَمَا أَمَرَكُمْ بِالصَّوْمِ وَالصَّلَاةِ فَكَيْفَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مَنْ دُنْيَاهُ آثَرُ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ آخِرَتِهِ وَهُوَ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَفْضَلُ رَغْبَةً؟ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مَنْ مَسِيرُهُ إِلَى آخِرَتِهِ وَهُوَ مُقْبِلٌ عَلَى دُنْيَاهُ؟ وَمَا يَضُرُّهُ أَشْهَى إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا يَنْفَعُهُ؟ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مَنْ سَخِطَ رِزْقَهُ وَاحْتَقَرَ مَنْزِلَتَهُ وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمِ اللَّهِ ﷻ وَقُدْرَتِهِ؟ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مَنِ اتَّهَمَ اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ فِي إِصَابَتِهِ؟ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مَنْ طَلَبَ الْكَلَامَ لِيُحَدِّثَ بِهِ وَلَمْ يَطْلُبْهُ لِيَعْمَلَ بِهِ  

[Machine] We have been informed that Satan appeared to Yahya bin Zakariya, peace be upon them both, and he saw on him attachments of everything. He asked him, "What are these attachments that I see on you?" He replied, "These are the desires that the children of Adam are afflicted with." Yahya ﷺ asked, "Do I have anything to do with them?" Satan replied, "No." Yahya then asked, "Will anything from me affect you?" Satan replied, "Perhaps you will become satisfied and we will distract you from prayer and remembrance." Yahya asked, "Is there anything else?" Satan replied, "No." Yahya said, "Certainly, by Allah, I will never be satisfied."  

بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ إِبْلِيسَ ظَهَرَ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَرَأَى عَلَيْهِ مَعَالِيقَ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا هَذِهِ الْمَعَالِيقُ الَّتِي أَرَاهَا عَلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ هَذِهِ الشَّهَوَاتُ الَّتِي أُصِيبُ بِهَا بَنِي آدَمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَحْيَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ هَلْ لِي فِيهَا شَيْءٌ؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَهَلْ تُصِيبُ مِنِّي شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ رُبَّمَا شَبِعْتَ فَثَقَّلْنَاكَ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ وَالذِّكْرِ قَالَ هَلْ غَيْرُ ذَا؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ لَا جَرَمَ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَشْبَعُ أَبَدًا  

[Machine] Indeed, Yahya and Isa, peace be upon them, met. Isa said to him, "Pray for forgiveness for me; you are better than me." Yahya said to him, "Pray for forgiveness for me; you are better than me." Isa said to him, "You are better than me; I have submitted to myself and Allah has blessed you." Thus, Allah showed them their virtue.  

إِنَّ يَحْيَى وَعِيسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ الْتَقَيَا فَقَالَ لَهُ عِيسَى اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي؛ أَنْتَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي فَقَالَ لَهُ يَحْيَى اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي؛ أَنْتَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي قَالَ لَهُ عِيسَى أَنْتَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي؛ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ فَعَرَفَ اللَّهُ ﷻ فَضْلَهُمَا  

When Yahya (John) peace be upon him was killed, some of his companions said to his friend, "Send me the shirt of the Prophet of Allah, Yahya, so that I may smell it. I have realized that I will be killed." He sent it to him, and when he received it, he found its scent and its flesh intact.  

لَمَّا قُتِلَ يَحْيَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ لِصَاحِبٍ لَهُ ابْعَثْ إِلَيَّ بِقَمِيصِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ يَحْيَى أَشُمَّهُ؛ فَإِنِّي قَدْ عَرَفْتُ أَنِّي مَقْتُولٌ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا سَدَاهُ وَلَحْمَتُهُ لِيفٌ  

[Machine] Isa ﷺ was presented with a man who had committed adultery. He commanded them to stone him and said to them, "No man should stone him except the one who has never sinned. So they threw the stones from their hands, except for Yahya bin Zakaria (peace be upon them both)."  

أُتِي عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ زَنَا فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِرَجْمِهِ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ لَا يَرْجُمُهُ رَجُلٌ عَمِلَ عَمَلَهُ فَأَلْقَوُا الْحِجَارَةَ مِنْ أَيْدِيهِمْ إِلَّا يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ  

The boys said to Yahya bin Zakariya, peace be upon them both, "Come, let's go and play." He asked, "Were we created for play?"  

قَالَ الصِّبْيَانُ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ اذْهَبْ بِنَا نَلْعَبْ قَالَ وَلِلَّعِبِ خُلِقْنَا؟  

[Machine] "A caller from the sky declared that Yahya ibn Zakariya is the master of those born from women, and George is the master of the martyrs."  

«نَادَى مُنَادٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَنَّ يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيَّا سَيِّدُ مَنْ وَلَدَتِ النِّسَاءُ وَأَنَّ جُورْجِيسَ سَيِّدُ الشُّهَدَاءِ»  

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Yahya ibn Zakariya was not concerned with sin and no woman had a place in his heart."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَمْ يَهُمَّ يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بِخَطِيئَةٍ وَلَا حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِهِ امْرَأَةٌ»  

[Machine] Luqman said to his son, "O my son, do not eat to the extent of being full, for if you do give to the dog his share from it, it is better for you than doing so."  

لُقْمَانُ لِابْنِهِ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَأْكُلْ شِبَعًا فَوْقَ شِبَعٍ؛ فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ تُلْقِهِ بْنَبْذِهِ لِلْكَلْبِ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] My friend advised me that I look at those who are beneath me and not at those who are above me, and that I love the poor and be humble towards them, and that I speak the truth even if it is difficult, and that I do not ask anyone for anything, and that I maintain family ties even if they are broken, and that I do not fear the blame of anyone in Allah, and that I frequently say 'there is no power or strength except with Allah'.  

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِسَبْعٍ أَنْ أَنْظُرَ إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ أَسْفَلَ مِنِّي وَلَا أَنْظُرَ إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ فَوْقِي وَأَنْ أُحِبَّ الْمَسَاكِينَ وَأَدْنُوَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَنْ أَقُولَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُرًّا وَأَنْ لَا أَسْأَلَ أَحَدًا شَيْئًا وَأَنْ أَصِلَ رَحِمِي وَإِنْ أَدْبَرَتْ وَأَنْ لَا أَخَافَ فِي اللَّهِ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ وَأَنْ أُكْثِرَ مِنْ قَوْلِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Among the worst of my people are those who are fed with delicacies, those who seek colorful foods and colorful clothes, they show off with their words.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ شِرَارِ أُمَّتِي الَّذِينَ غُذُّوا بِالنَّعِيمِ الَّذِينَ يَطْلُبُونَ أَلْوَانَ الطَّعَامِ وَأَلْوَانَ الثِّيَابِ يَتَشَادَقُونَ بِالْكَلَامِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered upon Bilal, may Allah have mercy on him, and saw a bag of dates with him. He said to him, "What is this?" Bilal replied, "This is some dates that I have saved." The Prophet said, "Do you not fear that it may have steam in the fire of Hell? Spend, O Bilal, and do not fear poverty from the Owner of the Throne."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى بِلَالٍ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ فَرَأَى عِنْدَهُ صُبَرًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ «مَا هَذَا؟» قَالَ «هَذَا تَمْرٌ ادَّخَرْتُهُ» قَالَ «أَفَمَا تَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ بُخَارٌ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ؟ أَنْفِقْ بِلَالُ وَلَا تَخْشَ مِنْ ذِي الْعَرْشِ إِقْلَالًا»  

[Machine] "The fugitives who fled for their religion will be gathered together to Jesus, ﷺ , on the Day of Judgment."  

«الْفَرَّارُونَ بِدِينِهِمْ يُجْمَعُونَ إِلَى عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

One of the supplications of Prophet David ﷺ was: "Glory be to the One who brings forth gratitude through His gifts, and brings forth supplication through hardships."  

كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ سُبْحَانَ مُسْتَخْرِجِ الشُّكْرِ بِالْعَطَاءِ وَمُسْتَخْرِجِ الدُّعَاءِ بِالْبَلَاءِ  

[Machine] Allah ﷻ revealed to David, ﷺ , "O David, shall I not teach you two actions that if you do them, you will gain the love of the people and reach my satisfaction?" He said, "Yes, O Lord." Allah said, "Guard yourself in what is between you and I with piety and mix with people with their good manners."  

أَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَى دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا دَاوُدُ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ عَمَلَيْنِ إِذَا عَمِلْتَ بِهِمَا أَلَّفْتَ بِهِمَا وُجُوهَ النَّاسِ إِلَيْكَ وَبَلَغْتَ بِهِمَا رِضَايَ؟ قَالَ بَلَى يَا رَبِّ قَالَ احْتَجِرْ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بِالْوَرَعِ وَخَالِطِ النَّاسَ بِأَخْلَاقِهِمْ  

[Machine] Allah revealed to Prophet David ﷺ that I have barred the oppressors from mentioning me and from sitting in my mosques. Verily, I have made a promise to myself that whoever remembers me, I will remember him. And indeed, when the oppressor mentions me, I curse him.  

أَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَى دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ انْهَ الظَّالِمِينَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي وَعَنْ قُعُودٍ فِي مَسَاجِدِي؛ فَإِنِّي جَعَلْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي أَوْ آلَيْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي أَنَّ مَنْ ذَكَرَنِي ذَكَرْتُهُ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمَ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِي لَعَنْتُهُ
