Abu ʿAbdur-Rahman and Hibban bin 'Atiyya had a dispute. Abu ʿAbdur-Rahman said to Hibban, "You know what made your companions (i.e. ʿAli) dare to shed blood." Hibban said, "Come on! What is that?" ʿAbdur-Rahman said, "Something I heard him saying." The other said, "What was it?" ʿAbdurRahman said, "ʿAli said, Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for me, Az-Zubair and Abu Marthad, and all of us were cavalry men, and said, 'Proceed to Raudat-Hajj (Abu Salama said that Abu 'Awana called it like this, i.e., Hajj where there is a woman carrying a letter from Hatib bin Abi Balta'a to the pagans (of Mecca). So bring that letter to me.' So we proceeded riding on our horses till we overtook her at the same place of which Messenger of Allah ﷺ had told us. She was traveling on her camel. In that letter Hatib had written to the Meccans about the proposed attached of Messenger of Allah ﷺ against them. We asked her, "Where is the letter which is with you?' She replied, 'I haven't got any letter.' So we made her camel kneel down and searched her luggage, but we did not find anything. My two companions said, 'We do not think that she has got a letter.' I said, 'We know that Messenger of Allah ﷺ has not told a lie.'" Then ʿAli took an oath saying, "By Him by Whom one should swear! You shall either bring out the letter or we shall strip off your clothes." She then stretched out her hand for her girdle (round her waist) and brought out the paper (letter). They took the letter to Messenger of Allah ﷺ. ʿUmar said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! (Hatib) has betrayed Allah, His Apostle and the believers; let me chop off his neck!" Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Hatib! What obliged you to do what you have done?" Hatib replied, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Why (for what reason) should I not believe in Allah and His Apostle? But I intended to do the (Mecca) people a favor by virtue of which my family and property may be protected as there is none of your companions but has some of his people (relatives) whom Allah urges to protect his family and property." The Prophet ﷺ said, "He has said the truth; therefore, do not say anything to him except good." ʿUmar again said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! He has betrayed Allah, His Apostle and the believers; let me chop his neck off!" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Isn't he from those who fought the battle of Badr? And what do you know, Allah might have looked at them (Badr warriors) and said (to them), 'Do what you like, for I have granted you Paradise?' " On that, ʿUmar's eyes became flooded with tears and he said, "Allah and His Apostle know best."  

أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لِحِبَّانَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ الَّذِي جَرَّأَ صَاحِبَكَ عَلَى الدِّمَاءِ يَعْنِي عَلِيًّا قَالَ مَا هُوَ لاَ أَبَا لَكَ قَالَ شَىْءٌ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُهُ قَالَ مَا هُوَ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالزُّبَيْرَ وَأَبَا مَرْثَدٍ وَكُلُّنَا فَارِسٌ قَالَ انْطَلِقُوا حَتَّى تَأْتُوا رَوْضَةَ حَاجٍ قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ هَكَذَا قَالَ أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَاجٍ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا امْرَأَةً مَعَهَا صَحِيفَةٌ مِنْ حَاطِبِ بْنِ أَبِي بَلْتَعَةَ إِلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَأْتُونِي بِهَا فَانْطَلَقْنَا عَلَى أَفْرَاسِنَا حَتَّى أَدْرَكْنَاهَا حَيْثُ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَسِيرُ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ لَهَا وَكَانَ كَتَبَ إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ بِمَسِيرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقُلْنَا أَيْنَ الْكِتَابُ الَّذِي مَعَكِ قَالَتْ مَا مَعِي كِتَابٌ فَأَنَخْنَا بِهَا بَعِيرَهَا فَابْتَغَيْنَا فِي رَحْلِهَا فَمَا وَجَدْنَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ صَاحِبِي مَا نَرَى مَعَهَا كِتَابًا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا كَذَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ حَلَفَ عَلِيٌّ وَالَّذِي يُحْلَفُ بِهِ لَتُخْرِجِنَّ الْكِتَابَ أَوْ لأُجَرِّدَنَّكِ فَأَهْوَتْ إِلَى حُجْزَتِهَا وَهْىَ مُحْتَجِزَةٌ بِكِسَاءٍ فَأَخْرَجَتِ الصَّحِيفَةَ فَأَتَوْا بِهَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ خَانَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ دَعْنِي فَأَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا حَاطِبُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَالِي أَنْ لاَ أَكُونَ مُؤْمِنًا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَلَكِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِي عِنْدَ الْقَوْمِ يَدٌ يُدْفَعُ بِهَا عَنْ أَهْلِي وَمَالِي وَلَيْسَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ أَحَدٌ إِلاَّ لَهُ هُنَالِكَ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ مَنْ يَدْفَعُ اللَّهُ بِهِ عَنْ أَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ قَالَ صَدَقَ لاَ تَقُولُوا لَهُ إِلاَّ خَيْرًا قَالَ فَعَادَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَدْ خَانَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ دَعْنِي فَلأَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ قَالَ أَوَلَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ اطَّلَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ فَقَدْ أَوْجَبْتُ لَكُمُ الْجَنَّةَ فَاغْرَوْرَقَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ  

While I was standing beside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one of the rabbis of the Jews came and said: Peace be upon you, O Muhammad. I pushed him backwith a push that he was going to fall. Upon this he said: Why do you push me? I said: Why don't you say: O Messenger of Allah? The Jew said: We call him by the name by which he was named by his family. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: My name is Muhammad with which I was named by my family. The Jew said: I have come to ask you (something). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Should that thing be of any benefit to you, if I tell you that? He (the Jew) said: I will lend my ears to it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew a line with the help of the stick that he had with him and then said: Ask (whatever you like). Thereupon the Jew said: Where would the human beings be on the Daywhen the earth would change into another earth and the heavens too (would change into other heavens)? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: They would be in darkness beside the Bridge. He (the Jew) again said: Who amongst people would be the first to cross (this bridge).? He said: They would be the poor amongst the refugees. The Jew said: What would constitute their breakfast when they would enter Paradise? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: A caul of the fish-liver. He (the Jew) said. What would be their food alter this? He (the Holy Prophet) said: A bullockwhich was fed in the different quarters of Paradise would be slaughtered for them. He (the Jew) said: What would be their drink? He (the Holy Prophet) said: They would be given drink from the fountain which is named" Salsabil". He (the Jew) said: I have come to ask you about a thing which no one amongst the people on the earth knows except an apostle or one or two men besides him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Would it benefit you if I tell you that? He (the Jew) said: I would lend ears to that. He then said: I have come to ask you about the child. He (the Holy Prophet) said: The reproductive substance of man is white and that of woman (i. e. ovum central portion) yellow, and when they have sexual intercourse and the male's substance (chromosomes and genes) prevails upon the female's substance (chromosomes and genes), it is the male child that is created by Allah's Decree, and when the substance of the female prevails upon the substance contributed by the male, a female child is formed by the Decree of Allah. The Jew said: What you have said is true; verily you are an Apostle. He then returned and went away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He asked me about such and such things of which I have had no knowledge till Allah gave me that.  

أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ قَائِمًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ حَبْرٌ مِنْ أَحْبَارِ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَدَفَعْتُهُ دَفْعَةً كَادَ يُصْرَعُ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ لِمَ تَدْفَعُنِي فَقُلْتُ أَلاَ تَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ إِنَّمَا نَدْعُوهُ بِاسْمِهِ الَّذِي سَمَّاهُ بِهِ أَهْلُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اسْمِي مُحَمَّدٌ الَّذِي سَمَّانِي بِهِ أَهْلِي فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَيَنْفَعُكَ شَىْءٌ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ قَالَ أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنَىَّ فَنَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِعُودٍ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ سَلْ فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَوَاتُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هُمْ فِي الظُّلْمَةِ دُونَ الْجِسْرِ قَالَ فَمَنْ أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ إِجَازَةً قَالَ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ قَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ فَمَا تُحْفَتُهُمْ حِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ زِيَادَةُ كَبِدِ النُّونِ قَالَ فَمَا غِذَاؤُهُمْ عَلَى إِثْرِهَا قَالَ يُنْحَرُ لَهُمْ ثَوْرُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّذِي كَانَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا قَالَ فَمَا شَرَابُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ مِنْ عَيْنٍ فِيهَا تُسَمَّى سَلْسَبِيلاً قَالَ صَدَقْتَ قَالَ وَجِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ شَىْءٍ لاَ يَعْلَمُهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ إِلاَّ نَبِيٌّ أَوْ رَجُلٌ أَوْ رَجُلاَنِ قَالَ يَنْفَعُكَ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ قَالَ أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنَىَّ قَالَ جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الْوَلَدِ قَالَ مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ أَبْيَضُ وَمَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ أَصْفَرُ فَإِذَا اجْتَمَعَا فَعَلاَ مَنِيُّ الرَّجُلِ مَنِيَّ الْمَرْأَةِ أَذْكَرَا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَإِذَا عَلاَ مَنِيُّ الْمَرْأَةِ مَنِيَّ الرَّجُلِ آنَثَا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ قَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ لَقَدْ صَدَقْتَ وَإِنَّكَ لَنَبِيٌّ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَذَهَبَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَقَدْ سَأَلَنِي هَذَا عَنِ الَّذِي سَأَلَنِي عَنْهُ وَمَا لِي عِلْمٌ بِشَىْءٍ مِنْهُ حَتَّى أَتَانِيَ اللَّهُ بِهِ  

[Machine] "Thawban, the slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated: I was standing in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a Jew passed by us and said, 'Peace be upon you, O Muhammad.' I pushed him away forcefully, almost causing harm to him. He asked, 'Why did you push me?' I replied, 'Don't you say 'O Messenger of Allah?' The Jew said, 'Indeed, we call him by the name his family gave him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, my name that my family gave me is Muhammad.' The Jew said, 'I came to ask you,' and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, 'How can I benefit you if I speak to you?' The Jew replied, 'I will listen with my ears.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ picked up a stick and said, 'Ask.' The Jew asked, 'Where will people be on the day when the earth and heavens are changed except for the earth and the heavens?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'They will be in darkness before the resurrection.' The Jew asked, 'Who will be the first to be granted permission?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'The poor emigrants.' The Jew asked, 'What will be their appearance when they enter Paradise?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'It will be an increase in the livers like that of the fish (the Prophet Yunus).' The Jew asked, 'What will be their sustenance in the shadow (of Paradise)?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'The slaughtered animals from Paradise, which they used to eat from its edges.' The Jew asked, 'What will be their drink?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'A river called Salsabil.' The Jew said, 'You have spoken the truth.'" Similar narration can be found in Bukhari and Muslim.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Should that thing be of any benefit to you, if I tell you that? He (the Jew) said: I will lend my ears to it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew a line with the help of the stick that he had with him and then said: Ask (whatever you like). Thereupon the Jew said: Where would the human beings be on the Daywhen the earth would change into another earth and the heavens too (would change into other heavens)? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: They would be in darkness beside the Bridge. He (the Jew) again said: Who amongst people would be the first to cross (this bridge).? He said: They would be the poor amongst the refugees. The Jew said: What would constitute their breakfast when they would enter Paradise? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: A caul of the fish-liver. He (the Jew) said. What would be their food alter this? He (the Holy Prophet) said: A bullockwhich was fed in the different quarters of Paradise would be slaughtered for them. He (the Jew) said: What would be their drink? He (the Holy Prophet) said: They would be given drink from the fountain which is named" Salsabil". He (the Jew) said: I have come to ask you about a thing which no one amongst the people on the earth knows except an apostle or one or two men besides him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Would it benefit you if I tell you that? He (the Jew) said: I would lend ears to that. He then said: I have come to ask you about the child. He (the Holy Prophet) said: The reproductive substance of man is white and that of woman (i. e. ovum central portion) yellow, and when they have sexual intercourse and the male's substance (chromosomes and genes) prevails upon the female's substance (chromosomes and genes), it is the male child that is created by Allah's Decree, and when the substance of the female prevails upon the substance contributed by the male, a female child is formed by the Decree of Allah. The Jew said: What you have said is true; verily you are an Apostle. He then returned and went away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He asked me about such and such things of which I have had no knowledge till Allah gave me that. (Using translation from Muslim 315a)  

أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ حَبْرٌ مِنْ أَحْبَارِ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَدَفَعْتُهُ دَفْعَةً كَادَ أَنْ يُصْرَعَ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ لِمَ تَدْفَعُنِي؟ فَقُلْتُ أَوَلَا تَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ إِنَّمَا نَدْعُوهُ بِاسْمِهِ الَّذِي سَمَّاهُ أَهْلُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اسْمِي مُحَمَّدٌ الَّذِي سَمَّانِي بِهِ أَهْلِي» فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَنْفَعُكَ شَيْءٌ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ؟» قَالَ أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنِي فَنَكَتَ بِعُودٍ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ «سَلْ» قَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ أيْنَ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هُمْ فِي الظُّلْمَةِ دُونَ الْجِسْرِ» قَالَ فَمَنْ أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ إِجَازَةً؟ قَالَ «فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ» فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ فَمَا تَحِيَّتُهُمْ حِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ «زِيَادَةُ كَبِدِ الْحُوتِ» قَالَ فَمَا غِذَاؤُهُمْ عَلَى أَثَرِهَا؟ قَالَ «يُنْحَرُ لَهُمْ ثَوْرُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا» قَالَ فَمَا شَرَابُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ «مِنْ عَيْنٍ تُسَمَّى سَلْسَبِيلًا» قَالَ صَدَقْتَ وَجِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لَا يَعْلَمُهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ أَوْ رَجُلٌ أَوْ رَجُلَانِ قَالَ «يَنْفَعُكَ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ؟» قَالَ أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنِي قَالَ جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الْوَلَدِ قَالَ «مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ أَبْيَضُ وَمَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ أَصْفَرُ فَإِذَا اجْتَمَعَا فَعَلَا مَنِيُّ الرَّجُلِ مَنِيَّ الْمَرْأَةِ ذَكَرًا بِإِذْنِ اللهِ وَإِذَا عَلَا مَنِيُّ الْمَرْأَةِ مَنِيَّ الرَّجُلِ أُنْثَى بِإِذْنِ اللهِ» فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ لَقَدْ صَدَقْتَ وَإِنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَذَهَبَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ سَأَلَنِي هَذَا عَنِ الَّذِيِ يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْهُ وَمَالِي بِشَيْءٍ مِنْهُ عَلِمٌ حَتَّى أَنْبَأَنِيَ اللهُ ﷻ»  

While I was standing beside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one of the rabbis of the Jews came and said: Peace be upon you, O Muhammad. I pushed him backwith a push that he was going to fall. Upon this he said: Why do you push me? I said: Why don't you say: O Messenger of Allah? The Jew said: We call him by the name by which he was named by his family. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: My name is Muhammad with which I was named by my family. The Jew said: I have come to ask you (something). كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ حَبْرٌ مِنْ أَحْبَارِ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قَالَ فَدَفَعْتُهُ حَتَّى صَرَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِمَ دَفَعْتَنِي؟ قُلْتُ أَلَا تَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ أَنَا أُسَمِّيهِ بِالِاسْمِ الَّذِي سَمَّاهُ بِهِ أَهْلُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَجَلْ أَهْلِي سَمُّونِي مُحَمَّدًا» قَالَ جِئْتُ لِأَسْأَلَ قَالَ «فَيَنْفَعُكَ إِنْ أَخْبَرْتُكَ» فَقَالَ أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سَلْ عَمَّا بَدَا لَكَ» فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا بُدِّلَتِ السَّمَوَاتُ غَيْرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ؟ قَالَ «فِي الظُّلْمَةِ دُونَ الْجَسْرُ» قَالَ فَمَنْ أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ أَجَازَهُ اللهُ؟ قَالَ «فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ» قَالَ فَأَيُّ شَيْءٍ يُتْحَفُ بِهَا أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ؟ قَالَ «زَائِدَةُ كَبِدِ نُونٍ» قَالَ فَمَا غِذَاؤُهُمْ عَلَى إِثْرِ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «يُنْحَرُ لَهُمْ ثَوْرُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّذِي كَانَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا» قَالَ فَمَا شَرَابُهُمْ؟ قَالَ «مِنْ عَيْنٍ تُسَمَّى سَلْسَبِيلَا» قَالَ صَدَقْتَ قَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ وَاحِدَةٍ لَا يَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ أَوْ رَجُلٌ أَوْ رَجُلَانِ قَالَ هَلْ يَنْفَعُكَ إِنْ أَخْبَرْتُكَ؟ قَالَ أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنِي قَالَ «سَلْ عَمَّا بَدَا لَكَ» قَالَ مِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ شَبَهُ الْوَلَدِ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ مَاءَ الرَّجُلِ غَلِيظٌ أَبْيَضُ وَمَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ أَصْفَرُ رَقِيقٌ فَإِنْ عَلَا مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ مَاءَ الْمَرْأَةِ أَذْكَرَ بِإِذْنِ اللهِ وَإِنْ عَلَا مَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ مَاءَ الرَّجُلِ أَنَّثَ بِإِذْنِ اللهِ» قَالَ صَدَقْتَ وَأَنْتَ نَبِيٌّ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ سَأَلَنِي حِينَ سَأَلَنِي وَمَا عِنْدِي عِلْمٌ حَتَّى أَنْبَأَنِي اللهُ بِهِ»
