“While we were sitting in the mosque, a man entered riding a camel; he made it kneel in the mosque, then he hobbled it and said to them: ‘Which of you is Muhammad?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reclining among them, so they said: ‘This fair- skinned man who is reclining.’ The man said to him: ‘O son of ‘Abdul- Muttalib!’ The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘I am listening to you.’ The man said: O Muhammad! I am asking you and will be stern in asking, so do not bear any ill-feelings towards me.’ He said: ‘Ask whatever you think.’ The man said: ‘I adjure you by your Lord and the Lord of those who came before you, has Allah sent you to all of mankind?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘By Allah, yes.; He said: ‘I adjure you by Allah, has Allah commanded you to pray the five prayers each day and night?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ He said: ‘I adjure you by Allah, has Allah commanded you to fast this month of each year?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ He said: ‘I adjure you by Allah, has Allah commanded you to take this charity from our rich and distribute it among our poor?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘By Allah, yes.’ The man said: ‘I believe in what you have brought, and I am the envoy of my people who are behind me. I am Dimam bin Tha’labah, the brother of Banu Sa’d bin Bakr.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1402)

"We were forbidden in the Quran to ask the Prophet about anything not imperative, so we liked it when a wise man from among the people of the desert came and asked him. A man from among the desert people came and said: 'O Muhammad, your messenger came to us and told us that you say that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has sent you.' He said: 'He spoke the truth.' He said: 'Who created the heavens?' He said: 'Allah.' He said: 'Who created the Earth?' He said: 'Allah.' He said: 'Who set up the mountains in it?' He said: 'Allah.' He said: 'Who created beneficial things in them?' He said: 'Allah.' He said: 'By the One Who created the heavens and the Earth, and set up the mountains therein, and created beneficial things in them, has Allah sent you?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Your messenger said that we have to offer five prayers each day and night.' He said: 'He spoke the truth.' He said: 'By the One Who sent you, has Allah commanded you to do this?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Your messenger said that we have to pay Zakah on our wealth.' He said: 'He spoke the truth.' He said: 'By the One Who sent you, has Allah commanded you to do this?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Your messenger said that we have to fast the month of Ramadan each year.' He said: 'He spoke the truth.' He said: 'By the One Who sent You, has Allah commanded you to do this?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Your messenger said that we have to perform Hajj, those who can afford it.' He said: 'He spoke the truth.' He said: 'By the One Who sent you, has Allah commanded you to do this?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'By the One Who sent you with the truth, I will not do more than this or less.' When he left, the Prophet said: 'If he is sincere, he will certainly enter paradise.'" When Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Muʿadh to Yemen, he said (to him), "YOU are going to people of a (Divine) Book. First of all invite them to worship Allah (alone) and when they come to know Allah, inform them that Allah has enjoined on them, five prayers in every day and night; and if they start offering these prayers, inform them that Allah has enjoined on them, the Zakat. And it is to be taken from the rich amongst them and given to the poor amongst them; and if they obey you in that, take Zakat from them and avoid (don't take) the best property of the people as Zakat." [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was once prominent among the people when a man came to him walking and said, "O Muhammad, what is faith?" He said, "To believe in Allah, His angels, His messengers, and the Day of Judgement, and to believe in the resurrection after death." The man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?" He said, "To worship Allah alone and not associate anything with Him, to establish the obligatory prayers, to pay the obligatory charity, and to fast during the month of Ramadan." The man then asked, "O Muhammad, what is excellence (ihsan)?" He said, "To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then know that He sees you." Finally, the man asked, "O Muhammad, when will the Hour (the Day of Judgement) occur?" He replied, "The one being asked about it knows no more than the questioner, but I will inform you of its signs. When the servant girl gives birth to her master, and you see the barefooted, naked, destitute shepherds competing in the construction of tall buildings, that is among its signs. The knowledge of the Hour belongs only to Allah {Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour} [Quran 31:34]." Then the man left, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion."

[Machine] I had a female servant who used to take care of my sheep in the area of Uhud and Al-Juwwaniyah. One day, I went to visit my sheep and found that a wolf had taken one of them. I felt sorry for the loss, just like any normal human would, so I hit the servant with a strong blow. It deeply affected me, so I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Shouldn't I set her free?" He responded, "Bring her to me." So I brought her to him and he asked, "Where is Allah?" She replied, "In the heavens." He asked, "Who am I?" She said, "You are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." He said, "Set her free, for she is a believer."

They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we come to you from a distant, forbidding place. There are disbelievers between us and you, from the tribe of Mudar. And we can only come to you in the sacred month. So we have come with a matter that we will inform those who are behind us about, and we hope to enter Paradise with it.' He ﷺ gave them four commandments and prohibited them from four things. He commanded them to have faith in Allah alone and asked, 'Do you know what faith in Allah alone is?' They said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He ﷺ said, 'It is to testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to give charity, to observe the fast of Ramadan, and to give one-fifth of the war spoils. And he prohibited them from predatory hawks (du'ba'), the tame snake (hantam), and the muzaffat.'"

[Machine] I said, "O Abu Abdullah al-Rahman, referring to Ibn Umar, there are people who claim that there is no fate (predestination). He said: Do we have anyone among us like them? I said, No. He said: Then convey to them from me that when you meet them, indeed Ibn Umar disassociates himself from you and you disassociate yourselves from him." Umar ibn al-Khattab narrated to us that while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a man came who had no signs of travel nor was he from the people of the city. He came and sat in front of the Messenger of Allah. He said, "O Muhammad, what is Islam? He said, "Islam is that you bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, give zakah, perform Hajj, perform Umrah, cleanse yourself from major impurity, complete ablution, and fast during Ramadan." He said, "If I do all of that, would I be a Muslim?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have spoken the truth." He asked, "O Muhammad, what is faith (imaan)?" He said, "Faith is that you believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and you believe in the Day of Judgment, and you believe in fate, its good and its evil." He said, "If I do all of that, would I be a believer (mu'min)?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have spoken the truth." He asked, "O Muhammad, what is excellence (ihsan)?" He said, "Excellence is that you worship Allah as if you see Him, and even though you do not see Him, He sees you." He asked, "If I do that, would I be excellent (muhsin)?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have spoken the truth." He asked, "O Muhammad, when is the Hour (Day of Judgment)?" He said, "Glory be to Allah, the one who is asked about it knows no more than the questioner, but if you wish, I will inform you about its signs." He said, "Yes." He said, "When you see barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings and when you see women giving birth to their mistresses, that is among the signs of the Hour." He said, "You have spoken the truth." Then the man left, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "O Umar, do you know who this man was?" We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "This was Gabriel who came to teach you your religion."

Then, He will say, 'Take out whoever has even an atom's weight of faith in their heart.' They will be taken out burnt. [Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said: "When the people of Paradise and the people of Hellfire are distinguished, the people of Paradise will enter Paradise, and the people of Hellfire will enter Hellfire. Then, the messengers will stand up and intercede, and it will be said, 'Go, and whoever you recognize in their hearts even to the weight of a mustard seed of faith, take them out.' So they will take out many people. Then it will be said, 'Go, and whoever you recognize in their hearts even to the weight of a tiny particle of faith, take them out.' So they will take out many people. Then Allah, the Most High, will say, 'I am now going to bring out of Hellfire those whom I caused to enter Paradise because of My mercy.' So He will bring out many times more than they took out, until they become like charcoal. They will be thrown into a river or a flowing stream in Paradise, and their burnt skin will fall off by the riverbank. Then they will emerge as white as pearls. It will be written on their necks: 'The Freed Ones of Allah,' and they will be called 'the Hellfire Dwellers.'"

The (permanent) inhabitants of the Fire are those who are doomed to it, and verily they would neither die nor live in it (al-Qur'an, xx. 47; lxxxvii. 13). But the people whom the Fire would afflict (temporarily) on account of their sins, or so said (the narrator)" on account of their misdeeds," He would cause them to die till they would be turned into charcoal. Then they would be granted intercession and would be brought in groups and would be spread on the rivers of Paradise and then it would be said: O inhabitants of Paradise, pour water over them; then they would sprout forth like the sprouting of seed in the silt carried by flood. A man among the people said: (It appears) as if the Messenger of Allah lived in the steppe. (Using translation from Muslim 185a)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ set off towards Baqi' al-Gharqad, and I followed him. He said, "O Abu Dharr!" I replied, "Here I am, at your service, and I am your sacrifice." He said, "The ones who have much in this world will have little on the Day of Judgment, except the ones who say, 'This is for the sake of Allah and this is for the sake of Allah,' with their right and left hands." He repeated this three times. Then, we came across Uhud, and he said, "O Abu Dharr, it pleases me that even if the family of Muhammad receive gold equivalent to the value of a dinar or less, it should be divided among them." I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." Then, we came across a valley, and the Prophet ﷺ settled there. I sat on its edge, thinking that he had a need, so I approached him slowly, and my assumption was wrong. I overheard a conversation, and he said, "That is Jibril informing me regarding my Ummah, that whoever among them testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, will enter Paradise." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what if he commits adultery and theft?" He replied, "Even if he commits adultery and theft."

Should I be asked to intercede, I would certainly intercede for you, and if I have the power, I would certainly do good to you, and then observed: By Allah, never did I hear anything from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ which could have been a source of benefit to you and then not conveyed it to you except this single hadith.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no soul on Earth that dies without associating anything with Allah and testifying that I am the Messenger of Allah, except that it will be forgiven. "I said, "Did you hear this from Mu'adh?" He replied, "The people overwhelmed and threatened me. They told me to leave him be, for he had not said anything wrong. Yes, I heard it from Mu'adh, he claimed to have heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
