[Machine] He sent him on an army made up of people wearing chains. He said, "I came to him and asked, 'Who is the most beloved to you among the people?' He said, 'Aisha.' I asked, 'Among the men?' He said, 'Her father.' I asked, 'Then who?' He said, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab.' He counted the men again."  

بَعَثَهُ عَلَى جَيْشِ ذَاتِ السَّلَاسِلِ قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ أِيُّ النَّاسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ فَقَالَ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ؟ قَالَ أَبُوهَا فَقُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ فَعَدَّ رِجَالًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "O Allah, honor Islam with Umar ibn Al-Khattab." And Abu Tahir Al-Faqih informed us, Abu Tahir Al-Muhaddith narrated, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Al-Fadl Al-Razi narrated, Abu Al-Qamah Al-Fariwi Al-Madinah narrated, Abdul Malik ibn Al-Majishun narrated from Muslim ibn Khalid from Hisham, who mentioned it in a similar manner.  

رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الْإِسْلَامَ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ خَاصَّةً 13103 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْمُحَمَّدْآبَاذِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَلْقَمَةَ الْفَرْوِيُّ الْمَدِينِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ الْمَاجِشُونِ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمِثْلِهِ  

[Machine] Because the sons of Sahm were supporters of the sons of 'Adi in the pre-Islamic era, and the sons of Jumah gathered against the sons of 'Adi for revenge between them. Then a group of brothers from Jumah stood against them and said, "Indeed, 'Adi is fewer in number than you. If you wish, send their numbers from among you to them, and we will remain as a barrier between you and them. And if you wish, we will help them from us until they become like you." This was said by Az-Zubayr ibn Bakkar. As for Abu 'Ubaidah, he is 'Amir ibn 'Abdullah ibn Al-Jarrah ibn Hilal ibn Ahyab ibn Dabbah ibn Al-Harith ibn Fehr ibn Malik. This was narrated by Muhammad ibn Ishaq and others.  

لِأَنَّ بَنِي سَهْمٍ كَانُوا مُظَاهِرِينَ لِبَنِي عَدِيٍّ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَاجْتَمَعَتْ بَنُو جُمَحٍ عَلَى بَنِي عَدِيٍّ لِنَاثِرَةٍ بَيْنَهُمْ فَقَامَتْ دُونَهُمْ سَهْمٌ إِخْوَةُ جُمَحٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ عَدِيًّا أَقَلُّ مِنْكُمْ عَدَدًا فَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ فَأَخْرِجُوا إِلَيْهِمْ أَعْدَادَهُمْ مِنْكُمْ وَنُخَلِّي بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ وَفَّيْنَاهُمْ مِنَّا حَتَّى يَكُونُوا مِثْلَكُمْ فَتَحَاجَزُوا قَالَهُ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ وَأَمَّا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ فَإِنَّهُ عَامِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ بْنِ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَهْيَبَ بْنِ ضَبَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فِهْرِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَغَيْرُهُ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, every nation has a trustworthy person, and the trustworthy person of this nation is Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَمِينًا وَإِنَّ أَمِينَنَا أَيَّتُهَا الْأُمَّةُ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ  

Abu Bakr and Al-ʿAbbas passed by one of the gatherings of the Ansar who were weeping then. He (i.e. Abu Bakr or Al-ʿAbbas) asked, "Why are you weeping?" They replied, "We are weeping because we remember the gathering of the Prophet ﷺ with us." So Abu Bakr went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him of that. The Prophet ﷺ came out, tying his head with a piece of the hem of a sheet. He ascended the pulpit which he never ascended after that day. He glorified and praised Allah and then said, "I request you to take care of the Ansar as they are my near companions to whom I confided my private secrets. They have fulfilled their obligations and rights which were enjoined on them but there remains what is for them. So, accept the good of the good-doers amongst them and excuse the wrongdoers amongst them." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3799)   

مَا يُبْكِيكُمْ؟ قَالُوا مَجْلِسُنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَخَرَجَ وَقَدْ عَصَبَ رَأْسَهُ بِحَاشِيَةِ ثَوْبٍ فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ وَلَمْ يَصْعَدْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أُوصِيكُمْ بِالْأَنْصَارِ؛ فَإِنَّهُمْ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَقَدْ قَضَوَا الَّذِي عَلَيْهِمْ وَبَقِيَ الَّذِي لَهُمْ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ  

[Machine] He ﷺ said, "The best of the Ansar are the Banu Najjar, then the Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal, then the Banu al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj, and the Banu Sa'idah, and in every generation of the Ansar there is goodness." It was said, "So he preferred them over us?" He said, "Yes, he preferred you over many others."  

ﷺ قَالَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ وَبَنُو سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ فَقِيلَ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ فَقِيلَ قَدْ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ  

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition to Tabuk, and he mentioned the hadith during his departure and return. He said, "Until we reached the outskirts of Madinah, and he said, 'This is Tabah and this is 'Uhad,' and it is a mountain that loves us and we love it. Then he said, 'Indeed, the best neighborhoods of the Ansar are the neighborhoods of Banu Najjar, then the neighborhoods of Banu 'Abdul Ashhal, then the neighborhoods of Banu Al-Harith bin Khazraj, and then the neighborhoods of Banu Sa'idah. And in every neighborhood of the Ansar, there is good. Then Sa'd bin 'Ubada caught up with us, and Abu Usaid said, 'Didn't you see that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ chose the neighborhoods of the Ansar and made us the last? So Sa'd caught up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you chose the neighborhoods of the Ansar and made us the last.' So he said, 'Is it not sufficient for you that you are among the chosen ones?  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ فِي خُرُوجِهِ وَرُجُوعِهِ قَالَ حَتَّى أَشْرَفْنَا عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ طَابَةُ وَهَذَا أُحُدٌ وَهُوَ جَبَلٌ يُحِبُّنَا وَنُحِبُّهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ خَيْرَ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ دَارُ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَلَحِقَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ فَقَالَ أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَيَّرَ دُورَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَجَعَلْنَا آخِرَهَا دَارًا؟ فَأَدْرَكَ سَعْدٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خَيَّرْتَ دُورَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَجَعَلْتَنَا آخِرَهَا فَقَالَ أَوَلَيْسَ بِحَسْبِكُمْ أَنْ تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْخِيَارِ؟  

[Machine] I heard Malik ibn Anas saying, "Whoever insults the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , they do not have any right in the booty. Allah says, 'For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval' (Surah Al-Hashr 59:8). These are the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who migrated with him. Then He says, 'And [also for] those who were settled in the home and [adopted] the faith' (Surah Al-Hashr 59:9). These are the Ansar. Then He says, 'And [also for] those who came after them' (Surah Al-Hashr 59:9). Malik exempted Allah (the Exalted) from this, and He said, 'They say, 'Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith' (Surah Al-Hashr 59:10). The booty is for these three groups, so whoever insults the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he is not from these three groups, and he has no right in the booty."  

سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ يَقُولُ مَنْ سَبَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَيْسَ لَهُ فِي الْفَيْءِ حَقٌّ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ {لِلْفُقَرَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَأَمْوَالِهِمْ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِنَ اللهِ وَرِضْوَانًا} [الحشر 8] الْآيَةَ هَؤُلَاءِ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ {وَالَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُوا الدَّارَ وَالْإِيمَانَ} الْآيَةَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْأَنْصَارُ ثُمَّ قَالَ {وَالَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ} قَالَ مَالِكٌ فَاسْتَثْنَى الله ﷻ فَقَالَ {يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ} [الحشر 10] الْآيَةَ فَالْفَيْءُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةِ فَمَنْ سَبَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَيْسَ هُوَ مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةِ وَلَا حَقَّ لَهُ فِي الْفَيْءِ
