I offered the prayer with the Prophet, Abu Bakr and ʿUmar at Mina and it was of two rakʿat. ʿUthman in the early days of his caliphate did the same, but later on he started praying the full prayer.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمَارَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا

We offered a four rakʿat prayer at Mina behind Ibn ʿAffan . ʿAbdullah bin Masʿud was informed about it. He said sadly, "Truly to Allah we belong and truly to Him we shall return." And added, "I prayed two rakʿat with Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Mina and similarly with Abu Bakr and with ʿUmar (during their caliphates)." He further said, "May I be lucky enough to have two of the four rakʿat accepted (by Allah)."

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered a two-rakʿat prayer at Mina. Abu Bakr, ʿUmar and ʿUthman, (during the early years of his caliphate) followed the same practice.

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلاَفَتِهِ

I offered (only a) two rakʿat prayer with the Prophet (at Mina), and similarly with Abu Bakr and with ʿUmar, and then you d offered in opinions. Wish that I would be lucky enough to have two of the four rakʿat accepted (by Allah).

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ ؓ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَفَرَّقَتْ بِكُمُ الطُّرُقُ فَيَا لَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ

Salim b. 'Abdullah (b. 'Umar) reported on the authority of his father that Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed the prayer of a traveller, i. e. two rak'ahs in Mina, and other places; so did Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and 'Uthman too observed two rak'ahs at the beginning of his caliphate, but he then completed four.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى صَلاَةَ الْمُسَافِرِ بِمِنًى وَغَيْرِهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلاَفَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا أَرْبَعًا

I heard 'Abd al-Rahman as saying; 'Uthman led us four rak'ahs of prayer at Mina. It was reported to Abdullah b. Mas'ud and he recited:" Surely we are Allah's and to Him shall we return," and then said: I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Mina two rak'ahs of prayer. I prayed along with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq two rak'ahs of prayer at Mina. I prayed along with 'Umar b. Khattab two rak'ahs of prayer at Mina. I wish I had my share of the two rak'ahs acceptable (to God) for the four rak'ahs.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ

"Imran bin Husain was asked about the traveler's prayer. He said: 'I performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah, and he prayed two Rak'ah. I performed Hajj with Abu Bakr, and he prayed two Rak'ah and with Umar, and he prayed two Rak;ah; and with Uthman for six years of his Khilafah, or eight years, and he prayed two Rak'ah."

حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَحَجَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ سِتَّ سِنِينَ مِنْ خِلاَفَتِهِ أَوْ ثَمَانِيَ سِنِينَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ

"I prayed two rak'ahs with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and two rak'ahs with Abu Bakr, and two rak'ahs with 'Umar, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with them both."

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ؓ

"I prayed two rak'ahs with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Mina, and with Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and two rak'ahs with 'Uthman at the beginning of his Caliphate."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمَارَتِهِ

"I prayed two rak'ahs with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Mina, and two rak'ahs with Abu Bakr, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with him, and two rak'ahs with Umar, may Allah ﷺ be pleased with him."

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ ؓ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

His father said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rak'ahs in Mina, and Abu Bakr prayed two rak'ahs, and Umar prayed two rak'ahs, and Uthman prayed (two rak'ahs) at the beginning of his Khilafah."

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلاَّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلاَّهَا عُمَرُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلاَّهَا عُثْمَانُ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلاَفَتِهِ

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two Rak'ahs in Mina, Abu Bakr prayed two Rak'ahs, Umar prayed two Rak'ahs, and Uthman prayed two Rak'ahs, leading from his position, and then completed them afterward.

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَعُمَرُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَعُثْمَانُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمَارَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ»

[AI] Abdullah prayed with Uthman in Mina four units of prayer. He said, "I have prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in this place two units of prayer, and with Abu Bakr two units of prayer, and with Umar two units of prayer. Then our paths diverged. I wish I could have two accepted units of prayer from the four units."

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَصَلَّى مَعَ عُثْمَانَ بِمِنًى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ «لَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَفَرَّقَتْ بِكُمُ الطُّرُقُ فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ»

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed two units of prayer in Mina, Abu Bakr performed two units of prayer, Umar performed two units of prayer, and Uthman performed two units of prayer as well. All of this was at the beginning of his caliphate, and then he completed them afterwards.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَعُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَعُثْمَانَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمَارَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا بَعْدُ

[AI] "I prayed alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Mina for two units of prayer, and with Abu Bakr for two units of prayer, and with Umar for two units of prayer. I wish for my share of four units of prayer to be accepted."

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ

[AI] "When Abdullah saw Uthman offering four units of prayer in Mina, I would offer two units of prayer behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , two units of prayer behind Abu Bakr, and two units of prayer behind Umar. I wish that my share from the four units of prayer would be accepted."

عَبْدُ اللهِ لَمَّا رَأَى عُثْمَانَ صَلَّى بِمِنًى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَخَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَخَلْفَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ

[AI] He said, "I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ two rak'ahs in Mina, and with Abu Bakr and Umar, so I obtained blessings from four rak'ahs that were accepted."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ

[AI] I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ in Mina two units of prayer, and with Abu Bakr, with Umar, and with Uthman, shoulder to shoulder, as part of his leadership, then I completed.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمَارَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّ

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا بَعْدُ عُثْمَانُ

[AI] "I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ two rak'ah during travel, and also with Abu Bakr and Umar."

«صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ»

[AI] Abdullah, I have performed two units of prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, two units with Abu Bakr, and two units with Umar, then our paths separated. I wish I had two accepted units of prayer from the four units.

[AI] I prayed two units of prayer with the Prophet ﷺ , two units with Abu Bakr, and two units with Umar. Then our paths diverged.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَفَرَّقَتْ بِكُمُ الطُّرُقُ

[AI] I performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he prayed two units of prayer in Mina. And with Abu Bakr, he prayed two units of prayer. And with Umar, he prayed two units of prayer. I wished that my two accepted units of prayer would be the same as theirs. Qais ibn al-Rabi` differed from them.

حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَيْنِ وَخَالَفَهُمْ قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ

[AI] I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ in Mina two units of prayer, and with Abu Bakr two units of prayer, and with Umar two units of prayer, while the people of Israel differed with them.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَخَالَفَهُمْ إِسْرَائِيلُ

[AI] I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ in Mina, two units of prayer. And I prayed with Abu Bakr, two units of prayer. And I prayed with Umar, two units of prayer.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

«صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

And added, "I prayed two rakʿat with Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Mina and similarly with Abu Bakr and with ʿUmar (during their caliphates)." "عَنْ أَنسٍ قَالَ: صليتُ معَ رسولِ الله ﷺ بمنى ركعتين، ومع أبى بكر ركعتين، ومع عمرَ بن الخطاب ركعتين، ومع عثمانَ بن عفان ركعتين صدرًا من خلافته، فلما كان آخر خلافته أتم الصلاة بمنى أربعًا".

" عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ بِمِنًى رَكعَتَيْنِ، وَمَعَ أَبِى بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلاَفَتِهِ، ثُمَّ صلَّاهَا أَرْبَعًا ".
