13. Anonymous of the Companions (2/19)

١٣۔ أحاديث رجال من أصحاب النبي ﷺ ص ٢

ahmad:23112ʿAffān > Shuʿbah > Abū ʿAqīl > Sābiq b. Nājiyah a man from Ahl al-Shām > Abū Sallām al-Barāʾ a man from Ahl Dimashq

[Machine] Abu Salam al-Bara' from the people of Damascus said, "We were sitting in the mosque of Homs when a man mentioned a matter to us. He said, 'Whenever you wake up in the morning and before you go to sleep at night, say three times, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad as my Prophet.' If you do this three times in the morning and three times in the evening, then it will be the right of Allah to please you on the Day of Resurrection.'"  

أحمد:٢٣١١٢حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَبُو عَقِيلٍ أَخْبَرَنِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَابِقَ بْنَ نَاجِيَةَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْبَرَاءِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ دِمَشْقَ قَالَ كُنَّا قُعُودًا فِي مَسْجِدِ حِمْصَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَى رَضِيتُ بِاللهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ وَثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ إِذَا أَمْسَى إِلَّا كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُرْضِيَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ  

ahmad:23113Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd Ṣāḥib al-Ziyādī > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith

"I entered upon the Prophet when he was having Sahur. He sadi: 'It is a blessing that Allah has given to you, so do not neglect it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2162)   

أحمد:٢٣١١٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْحَمِيدِ صَاحِبَ الزِّيَادِيِّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَسَحَّرُ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ بَرَكَةٌ أَعْطَاكُمُوهُ اللهُ فَلَا تَدَعُوهُ

[Machine] "The Quaquaaea' of a man who used to spy on the Prophet ﷺ, and he used to say in his supplication 'O Allah, forgive my sins and make me spacious in my self and bless me in what you have provided for me,' then he spied on him a second time, and he said the same thing."  

أحمد:٢٣١١٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ

الْقَعْقَاعِعَنْ رَجُلٍ جَعَلَ يَرْصُدُ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي وَوَسِّعْ لِي فِي ذَاتِي وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا رَزَقْتَنِي ثُمَّ رَصَدَهُ الثَّانِيَةَ فَكَانَ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Who is the true wrestler?" They said, "One who throws his opponent down." The Prophet said, "The wrestler of all wrestlers is a man who is intensely angry, whose face turns red, and whose hair bristles, then he wrestles against his anger."  

أحمد:٢٣١١٥حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجُعْفِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ أَبِي حَصْبَةَ أَوْ ابْنِ حَصْبَة

عَنْ رَجُلٍ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ تَدْرُونَ مَا الرَّقُوبُ؟ قَالُوا الَّذِي لَا وَلَدَ لَهُ فَقَالَ الرَّقُوبُ كُلُّ الرَّقُوبِ الرَّقُوبُ كُلُّ الرَّقُوبِ الرَّقُوبُ كُلُّ الرَّقُوبِ الَّذِي لَهُ وَلَدٌ فَمَاتَ وَلَمْ يُقَدِّمْ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا قَالَ تَدْرُونَ مَا الصُّعْلُوكُ؟ قَالُوا الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الصُّعْلُوكُ كُلُّ الصُّعْلُوكِ الصُّعْلُوكُ كُلُّ الصُّعْلُوكِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَالٌ فَمَاتَ وَلَمْ يُقَدِّمْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا الصُّرَعَةُ؟ قَالَ قَالُوا الصَّرِيعُ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصُّرَعَةُ كُلُّ الصُّرَعَةِ الصُّرَعَةُ كُلُّ الصُّرَعَةِ الرَّجُلُ يَغْضَبُ فَيَشْتَدُّ غَضَبُهُ وَيَحْمَرُّ وَجْهُهُ وَيَقْشَعِرُّ شَعَرُهُ فَيَصْرَعُ غَضَبَهُ  

ahmad:23116Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Simāk b. Ḥarb > a man from Banī Layth

[Machine] "People from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ captured me, so I was with them. They obtained some sheep and slaughtered them. Then I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Verily, spoils of war (booty) are not suitable, so distribute the pots.'"  

أحمد:٢٣١١٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي لَيْثٍ قَالَ

أَسَرَنِي نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَكُنْتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَصَابُوا غَنَمًا فَانْتَهَبُوهَا فَطَبَخُوهَا قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النُّهْبَى أَوِ النُّهْبَةَ لَا تَصْلُحُ فَأَكْفِئُوا الْقُدُورَ  

ahmad:23117Muḥammad And Ḥajjāj > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. al-Minhāl or Ibn Maslamah from his uncle > Ḥajjāj > ʿAbd al-Raḥman Abū al-Minhāl b. Maslamah al-Khuzāʿiyyiʿan ʿAmmih

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said to the newly converted Muslims, 'Fast this day.' They said, 'We have already eaten.' He said, 'Then fast the rest of your day, meaning the day of Ashura.'"  

أحمد:٢٣١١٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ أَوْ ابْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيِّعَنْ عَمِّهِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِأَسْلَمَ صُومُوا الْيَوْمَ قَالُوا إِنَّا قَدْ أَكَلْنَا قَالَ صُومُوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِكُمْ يَعْنِي يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ  

ahmad:23118Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Abū Jaʿfar al-Madīnī > ʿUmārah b. ʿUthmān b. Ḥunayf > al-Qaysī

[Machine] "He ﷺ was once traveling with the Messenger of Allah, and he developed a condition (such as itching), so he brought water and poured it upon his hand from a container. He washed his hand once, his face once, his arms once, and washed his feet once, using both of his hands for each foot. In his narration, he stated that he traced his thumb with his other fingers."  

أحمد:٢٣١١٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَارَةَ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَيْسِيُّ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَبَالَ فَأَتَى بِمَاءٍ فَهَالَ عَلَى يَدِهِ مِنَ الْإِنَاءِ فَغَسَلَهَا مَرَّةً وَعَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَرَّةً وَذِرَاعَيْهِ مَرَّةً وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ مَرَّةً بِيَدَيْهِ كِلْتَيْهِمَا وَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ الْتَفَّ إِصْبَعُهُ الْإِبْهَامُ

[Machine] "From his father, who used to perform Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , that a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: Hajjaj saw Abdullah from the Prophet ﷺ who said: Verily, the intensity of the heat is from the exhalation of Hellfire. So, when the heat becomes intense, then cool down from performing the prayer."  

أحمد:٢٣١١٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَجَّاجَ بْنَ حَجَّاجٍ الْأَسْلَمِيَّ وَكَانَ إِمَامَهُمْ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَكَانَ يَحُجُّ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ أُرَاهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ الْحَرُّ فَأَبْرِدُوا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ  

ahmad:23120Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿUbayd al-Muktib > Abū ʿAmr al-Shaybānī

[Machine] A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, 'Which deed is the best?' He replied, 'Performing the prayer on time, honoring parents, and striving in the cause of Allah.'"  

أحمد:٢٣١٢٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدٌ الْمُكْتِبُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيَّ

يُحَدِّثُعَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَوْ قَالَ أَفْضَلُ الْعَمَلِ الصَّلَاةُ لِوَقْتِهَا وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْجِهَادُ  

ahmad:23121Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > al-Azraq b. Qays > ʿAbdullāh b. Rabāḥ

[Machine] About a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Asr prayer, and a man stood up to pray. Umar saw him and told him to sit down, for the people of the Book were destroyed because they did not perform their prayers properly. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Umar, Ibn al-Khattab, has spoken the truth."  

أحمد:٢٣١٢١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْأَزْرَقِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ يُصَلِّي فَرَآهُ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ لَهُ اجْلِسْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِصَلَاتِهِمْ فَصْلٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَحْسَنَ ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ  

ahmad:23122Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Yazīd b. Abū Ziyād > Zayd b. Wahb > a man

[Machine] A Bedouin man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wolves have attacked us." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "The wolves attacking you are not as dangerous as the worldly temptations that will come upon you. I wish my nation would not wear gold."  

أحمد:٢٣١٢٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ

أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَكَلَتْنَا الضَّبُعُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غَيْرُ الضَّبُعِ عِنْدِي أَخْوَفُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الضَّبُعِ إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا سَتُصَبُّ عَلَيْكُمْ صَبًّا فَيَا لَيْتَ أُمَّتِي لَا تَلْبَسُ الذَّهَبَ  

ahmad:23123Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿĀṣim b. Kulayb from his father > a man from Muzaynah or Juhaynah

[Machine] The companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to give two young camels, and take one-year-old camels as the days before Eid al-Adha approached. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Verily, the young camel will suffice as a substitute for what is normally taken from the one-year-old."  

أحمد:٢٣١٢٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ أَوْ جُهَيْنَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ الْأَضْحَى بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ بِيَوْمَيْنِ أَعْطَوْا جَذَعَيْنِ وَأَخَذُوا ثَنِيًّا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْجَذَعَةَ تُجْزِئُ مِمَّا تُجْزِئُ مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ  

ahmad:23124Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿĀṣim b. Kulayb > ʿIyāḍ b. Marthad or Marthad b. ʿIyāḍ > a man Minhum

[Machine] He asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "O Messenger of Allah, inform me of an action that will enter me into Paradise." He said, "Are your parents alive?" He said, "No." He said, "Then quench their thirst." He said, "How can I quench their thirst?" He said, "Serve them water when they are present and carry it to them when they are absent."  

أحمد:٢٣١٢٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ أَوْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ هَلْ مِنْ وَالِدَيْكَ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَيٌّ؟ قَالَ لَهُ مَرَّاتٍ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَاسْقِ الْمَاءَ قَالَ كَيْفَ أَسْقِيهِ؟ قَالَ اكْفِهِمْ آلَتَهُ إِذَا حَضَرُوهُ وَاحْمِلْهُ إِلَيْهِمْ إِذَا غَابُوا عَنْهُ  

ahmad:23125Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr > Shabīb Abū Rawḥ

[Machine] "He talks about a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrating about the Prophet ﷺ that he prayed the morning prayer and recited in it from Surah Ar-Rum. He stumbled in his recitation and said, 'What prevents me?' Shu'bah said, 'He mentioned Ar-Rafiq and the meaning of his saying, 'Indeed, you are not clean."  

أحمد:٢٣١٢٥حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ شَبِيبًا أَبَا رَوْحٍ

يُحَدِّثُعَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ فَقَرَأَ فِيهَا بِالرُّومِ فَأَوْهَمَ فِيهَا فَقَالَ وَمَا يَمْنَعُنِي قَالَ شُعْبَةُ فَذَكَرَ الرُّفْغَ وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ بِمُتَنَظِّفِينَ  

ahmad:23126ʿAffān > Shuʿbah > ʿĀṣim b. Kulayb > ʿIyāḍ b. Marthad or Marthad b. ʿIyāḍ > a man Minhum

[Machine] He asked the Prophet ﷺ about a deed that would enter him into Paradise, so he mentioned it, except that he said, "Taking care of their kin when they are present and bearing the burden for them when they are absent."  

أحمد:٢٣١٢٦حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ عَاصِمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عِيَاضَ بْنَ مَرْثَدٍ أَوْ مَرْثَدَ بْنَ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ عَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ فَذَكَرَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ تَكْفِيهِمْ آلَتَهُمْ إِذَا حَضَرُوهُ وَتَحْمِلُهُ إِلَيْهِمْ إِذَا غَابُوا عَنْهُ  

ahmad:23127Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Manṣūr > Ribʿī b. Ḥirāsh > a man from Banī ʿĀmir

[Machine] He sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ and said, "May I come in?" The Prophet ﷺ said to his servant, "Let him come in, for he does not know how to ask for permission. So, when he comes in, you say to him, 'Peace be upon you, may I enter?'." So, I heard him saying that, and I said, 'Peace be upon you, may I enter?'. He granted permission, or he said, 'Enter', so I entered. I said to him, 'What have you brought to us?' He said, 'I have not come to you with anything other than good. I have come to you to worship Allah alone, with no partner for Him. I have come to you to abandon worshipping Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, and to establish five prayers in the night and day, and to fast one month of the year, and to perform the pilgrimage to the House, and to give from your wealthy ones and distribute it among your poor ones.' He asked, 'Is there anything of knowledge left that you do not know?' He replied, 'Allah knows better, surely there is knowledge that no one knows except Allah about the five things: Allah's knowledge of the Hour, and the coming down of the rain, and no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.' (31:34) [Lqman 34]

أَنَّهُ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَأَلِجُ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِخَادِمِهِ اخْرُجِي إِلَيْهِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُحْسِنُالِاسْتِئْذَانَ فَقُولِي لَهُ فَلْيَقُلِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ آَدْخُلُ؟ قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ آَدْخُلُ؟ قَالَ فَأَذِنَ أَوْ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ فَقُلْتُ بِمَ أَتَيْتَنَا بِهِ؟ قَالَ لَمْ آتِكُمْ إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ أَتَيْتُكُمْ أَنْ تَعْبُدُوا اللهَ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنْ تَدَعُوا اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّى وَأَنْ تُصَلُّوا بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ وَأَنْ تَصُومُوا مِنَ السَّنَةِ شَهْرًا وَأَنْ تَحُجُّوا الْبَيْتَ وَأَنْ تَأْخُذُوا مِنْ أَمْوَالٍ أَغْنِيَائِكُمْ فَتَرُدُّوهَا عَلَى فُقَرَائِكُمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ هَلْ بَقِيَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ شَيْءٌ لَا تَعْلَمُهُ؟ قَالَ قَدْ عَلِمَ اللهُ خَيْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَا يَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا اللهُ الْخَمْسَ {إِنَّ اللهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الْأَرْحَامِ وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًا وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ بِأَيِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ} [لقمان 34]

[Machine] "On the authority of a companion of the Prophet ﷺ , the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever kills a person from the people of a covenant (non-Muslims living under Muslim rule) will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, and its fragrance can be smelled from a distance of seventy years.'"

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ قَتَلَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ لَمْ يَرَحْ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ أَوْ لَمْ يَجِدْ رِيحَ الْجَنَّةِ مَنْصُورٌ الشَّاكُّ إِنَّ رِيحَهَا تُوجَدُ مِنْ قَدْرِ سَبْعِينَ عَامًا

[Machine] It was narrated from a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ that the Prophet ﷺ said: "I looked at the moon on the morning of the Night of Destiny and I saw it resembling a piece of cut cloth. Abu Ishaq said: "The moon appears like that on the morning of the twenty-third night."

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ صَبِيحَةَ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ كَأَنَّهُ فِلْقُ جَفْنَةٍ وَقَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِنَّمَا يَكُونُ الْقَمَرُ كَذَاكَ صَبِيحَةَ لَيْلَةِ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ

[Machine] I heard a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrating to Abdul-Malik ibn Marwan that he said about alcohol: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about alcohol: If he drinks it, then flog him. If he repeats it, then flog him. If he repeats it again, then flog him. If he repeats it for the fourth time, then kill him."

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُحَدِّثُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ إِنْ شَرِبَهَا فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[Machine] From a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , who said that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Shall I not inform you about the inhabitants of Paradise?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The weak and oppressed." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you about the inhabitants of Hell?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Every harsh, arrogant person."

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ الضُّعَفَاءُ الْمُتَظَلِّمُونَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ النَّارِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ كُلُّ شَدِيدٍ جَعْظَرِيٍّ  

ahmad:23132Surayj > Abū ʿAwānah > Dāwud b. ʿAbdullāh al-Awdī > Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman

Humayd al-Himyari reported: I met a person (among the Companion of Prophet) who remained in the company of the Prophet ﷺfor four years as AbuHurayrah remained in his company. He reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that the female should wash with the water left over by the male, and that the male should wash with the left-over of the female. The version of Musaddad adds: "That they both take the handful of water together." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 81)   

أحمد:٢٣١٣٢حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَوْدِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ

لَقِيتُ رَجُلًا صَحِبَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَمَا صَحِبَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ قَالَ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَمَشَّطَ أَحَدُنَا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ أَوْ يَبُولَ فِي مُغْتَسَلِهِ أَوْ تَغْتَسِلَ الْمَرْأَةُ بِفَضْلِ الرَّجُلِ أَوْ يَغْتَسِلَ الرَّجُلُ بِفَضْلِ الْمَرْأَةِ وَلْيَغْتَرِفَا جَمِيعًا

[Machine] He informed me that he saw the Prophet ﷺ hugging Hasan and Husayn and saying, "O Allah, I love them, so love them."  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٣حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَضُمُّ إِلَيْهِ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُمَا فَأَحِبَّهُمَا  

ahmad:23134Isḥāq b. ʿĪsá > Mālik > Zayd b. Aslam > a man from Banī Ḍamrah from his father

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about Aqeeqah, so he said, "I do not like to be disobedient, as if he disliked the name. And he said, 'Whoever has a child and wants to sacrifice for his child, let him do so.'"  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٤حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ فَقَالَ لَاأُحِبُّ الْعُقُوقَ كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ الِاسْمَ وَقَالَ مَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْسُكَ عَنْ وَلَدِهِ فَلْيَفْعَلْ

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "Indeed, the disbeliever drinks from seven intestines, while the believer drinks from one intestine."  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٥حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بِلَالٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْكَافِرَ يَشْرَبُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ وَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَشْرَبُ فِي مِعًى وَاحِدٍ  

ahmad:23136Isḥāq b. ʿĪsá > Mālik > Yazīd b. Rūmān

On the authority of a person who offered the prayer in time of danger along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the battle of Dhat al-Riqa. One section of people stood in the row of prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the other section remained standing in front of the enemy. He led those who were with him in one rak'ah and remained standing (in his place) and they completed (the second rak'ah) by themselves. Then they turned away and arrayed before the enemy. Thereafter the other section came and he led them in the rak'ah which remained from his prayer. He then remained sitting (in his place) and they completed their one rak'ah by themselves. He then uttered the salutation along with them. Malik said: I like the tradition reported by Yazid b. Ruman (i.e. the present tradition) more than (other versions) I heard. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1238)  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٦حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُومَانَ

عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَمَّنْ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمِ ذَاتَ الرِّقَاعِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ أَنَّ طَائِفَةً صَفَّتْ مَعَهُ وَطَائِفَةً وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِالَّتِي مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ ثَبَتَ قَائِمًا وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا فَصَفُّوا وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ وَجَاءَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ الرَّكْعَةَ الَّتِي بَقِيَتْ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ثُمَّ ثَبَتَ جَالِسًا وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ قَالَ مَالِكٌ وَهَذَا أَحَبُّ مَا سَمِعْتُ إِلَيَّ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ  

ahmad:23137Ḥusayn b. Muḥammad > Ibn Abū al-Zinād from his father > ʿUrwah > al-Aḥnaf b. Qays > Ibn ʿAm Lī

[Machine] I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, tell me something and make it concise so that I may understand it." He said, "Do not get angry." I returned to him repeatedly, and every time he would say, "Do not get angry."  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٧حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عَمٍّ لِي قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قُلْ لِي قَوْلًا وَأَقْلِلْ لَعَلِّي أَعْقِلُهُ قَالَ لَا تَغْضَبْ قَالَ فَعُدْتُ لَهُ مِرَارًا كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَعُودُإِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَغْضَبْ  

ahmad:23138Makkī b. Ibrāhīm > al-Juʿayd > Mūsá b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Khaṭmī > Muḥammad b. Kaʿb / Yasʾal ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Akhbirnī Mā > Abāk

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abdur Rahman said: I heard my father say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The example of someone who plays dice and then gets up to pray is like someone who purifies themselves with pus and blood of a pig and then gets up to pray."  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٨حَدَّثَنَا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُعَيْدُ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْخَطْمِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ وَهُوَ يَسْأَلُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ يَقُولُ أَخْبِرْنِي مَا سَمِعْتَ أَبَاكَ يَقُولُ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِسَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَلْعَبُ بِالنَّرْدِ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْقَيْحِ وَدَمِ الْخِنْزِيرِ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ held in his hand or in the hand of Salman and said, "Glory be to Allah, half of the scale, and praise be to Allah, the scale is filled. Allah is the greatest, filling what is between the heavens and the earth. Purification is half of faith, and fasting is half of patience."  

أحمد:٢٣١٣٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ جُرَيٍّ النَّهْدِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَقَدَ فِي يَدِهِ أَوْ فِي يَدِ السُّلَمِيِّ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ نِصْفُ الْمِيزَانِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ يَمْلَأُ الْمِيزَانَ وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ يَمْلَأُ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالطُّهُورُ نِصْفُ الْإِيمَانِ وَالصَّوْمُ نِصْفُ الصَّبْرِ

[Machine] The caller of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Pray in the caravan on a windy day."  

أحمد:٢٣١٤٠حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ حَدَّثَهُ

مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ نَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ  

ahmad:23141Rawḥ > Ibn Jurayj

[Machine] Amr ibn Yahya ibn Umarah ibn Abi Hasan told me that Maryam, the daughter of Iyas ibn al-Bukayr, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ , narrated to me that some of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ said that the Prophet ﷺ entered upon her and said, "Do you have a child?" She replied, "Yes." So he called for the child and placed her on his lap. Then he said, "O Allah, extinguish the big one and magnify the small one. Remove it from me." And it was extinguished.  

أحمد:٢٣١٤١حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ

أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ أَبِي حَسَنٍ حَدَّثَتْنِي مَرْيَمُ ابْنَةُ إِيَاسِ بْنِ الْبُكَيْرِ صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ أَعِنْدَكِ ذَرِيرَةٌ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَدَعَا بِهَا فَوَضَعَهَا عَلَى بَثْرَةٍ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِ رِجْلِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللهُمَّ مُطْفِئَ الْكَبِيرِ وَمُكَبِّرَ الصَّغِيرِأَطْفِئْهَا عَنِّي فَطُفِئَتْ  

ahmad:23142Rawḥ > Shuʿbah > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd Ṣāḥib al-Ziyādī > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith

"I entered upon the Prophet when he was having Sahur. He sadi: 'It is a blessing that Allah has given to you, so do not neglect it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2162)   

أحمد:٢٣١٤٢حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ صَاحِبُ الزِّيَادِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَسَحَّرُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ السَّحُورَ بَرَكَةٌ أَعْطَاكُمُوهَا اللهُ فَلَا تَدَعُوهَا  

ahmad:23143Aswad b. ʿĀmir > Abū Isrāʾīl > al-Ḥakam > Abū Sulaymānaʿan Zayd b. Arqam > Āstashhad ʿAlī al-Nās > Anshud Allāh a man

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ heard saying, "O Allah, whoever I am his master, Ali is his master. O Allah, befriend those who befriend him and oppose those who oppose him." Sixteen men stood up and witnessed it.  

أحمد:٢٣١٤٣حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ اسْتَشْهَدَ عَلِيٌّ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ أَنْشُدُ اللهَ رَجُلًا

سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَعَلِيٌّ مَوْلَاهُ اللهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالَاهُ وَعَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُ قَالَ فَقَامَ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا فَشَهِدُوا

[Machine] "Two men from the tribe of Bani Bakr said: The Prophet ﷺ addressed the people in Mina while sitting on his mount, and we were present beside it. Ibrahim said, 'I do not remember any of his words except that he said while standing by the Jamrah (pillar)."

عَنْ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ بَنِي بَكْرٍ قَالَا خَطَبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ النَّاسَ بِمِنًى عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَنَحْنُ عِنْدَ يَدَيْهَا قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَلَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا قَالَ عِنْدَ الْجَمْرَةِ

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and he was saying, "O people, adhere to the congregation and beware of division, O people, adhere to the congregation and beware of division," repeating it three times. Isaac said it.

انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْجَمَاعَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُرْقَةَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عَلَيْكُمْبِالْجَمَاعَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُرْقَةَ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ قَالَهَا إِسْحَاقُ

[Machine] From the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to instruct us to build mosques in our homes and to repair and purify them.

[Machine] A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Your brothers, so reconcile with them and help them in what overpowers you, and support them in what overpowers them.'"

[Machine] "From a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'Treat your brothers kindly, or rectify your relationship with them, and seek their assistance in what overwhelms you, and help them in what overwhelms them.'"

It was narrated from a man of Aslam, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, that they used to pray Maghrib with the Prophet ﷺ,then they would go back to their families in the furthest part of Al-Madinah, shooting arrows and seeing where they landed. [Machine] "On the authority of a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, from the Ansar, he said that Shu'bah said or a man from the Ansar said that he heard the Prophet ﷺ during prayer saying, 'O Lord, forgive me.' Shu'bah said, or he said, 'O Allah, forgive me and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepter of repentance, the Most Forgiving,' one hundred times."

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَوْ قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي صَلَاةٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَوْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الْغَفُورُ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

[Machine] I heard a man in the market of 'Ukaz saying, "O people, say there is no god but Allah and you will succeed." And a man following him said, "Indeed, this person wants to divert you from your gods." Then the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Jahl appeared.

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا فِي سُوقِ عُكَاظٍ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ تُفْلِحُوا وَرَجُلٌ يَتْبَعُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ هَذَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَصُدَّكُمْ عَنْ آلِهَتِكُمْ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَبُو جَهْلٍ

that the Messenger of Allah said: 'The wedding feast on the first day is an obligation, on the second day is a custom and on the third day is showing off.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1915)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْوَلِيمَةُ حَقٌّ وَالْيَوْمُ الثَّانِي مَعْرُوفٌ وَالْيَوْمُ الثَّالِثُ سُمْعَةٌ وَرِيَاءٌ

[Machine] From some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , they said, "The recitation of the Prophet ﷺ during the afternoon prayer was known by the movement of his beard."

I and my father went to the house of my father-in-law from the Ansar to pay a sick visit to him. The time of prayer came. He said to someone of his relatives: O girl! bring me water for ablution so that I pray and get comfort. We objected to him for it. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Get up, Bilal, and give us comfort by the prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4986)   

أحمد:٢٣١٥٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ قَالَ

دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَلَى صِهْرٍ لَنَا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَالَ يَا جَارِيَةُ ائْتِنِي بِوَضُوءٍ لَعَلِّي أُصَلِّي فَأَسْتَرِيحَ فَرَآنَا أَنْكَرْنَا ذَاكَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ قُمْ يَا بِلَالُ فَأَرِحْنَا بِالصَّلَاةِ  

ahmad:23155ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Zuhayr / Ibn Muḥammad > Mūsá b. Jubayr > Abū Umāmah b. Sahl b. Ḥunayf

The Prophet ﷺ said: Leave the Abyssinians alone as long as they leave you alone, for it is only the Abyssinian with short legs who will seek to take out the treasure of the Ka'bah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4309)

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اتْرُكُوا الْحَبَشَةَ مَا تَرَكُوكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَسْتَخْرِجُ كَنْزَ الْكَعْبَةِ إِلَّا ذُو السُّوَيْقَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْحَبَشَةِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , once encountered a man with a wound. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Call upon the doctors of the Bani Fulan (a specific tribe)." So they called upon him, and he came. They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, will medication be of any benefit?" He said, "Glory be to Allah, has Allah sent down any illness upon the earth without providing a cure for it?"  

أحمد:٢٣١٥٦حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يِسَافٍ عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ

عَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا بِهِ جُرْحٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ادْعُوا لَهُ طَبِيبَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ قَالَ فَدَعَوْهُ فَجَاءَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَيُغْنِي الدَّوَاءُ شَيْئًا؟ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَهَلْ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ مِنْ دَاءٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا جَعَلَ لَهُ شِفَاءً

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: you will make a secure peace with the Byzantines, then you and they will fight an enemy behind you, and you will be victorious, take booty, and be safe. You will then return and alight in a meadow with mounds and one of the Christians will raise the cross and say: The cross has conquered. One of the Muslims will become angry and smash it, and the Byzantines will act treacherously and prepare for the battle. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4292)   

أحمد:٢٣١٥٧حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ

عَنْ ذِي مِخْمَرٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ سَتُصَالِحُكُمُ الرُّومُ صُلْحًا آمِنًا ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ وَهُمْ عَدُوًّا فَتُنْصَرُونَ وَتَسْلَمُونَ وَتَغْنَمُونَ ثُمَّ تَنْصَرِفُونَ حَتَّى تَنْزِلُوا بِمَرْجٍ ذِي تُلُولٍ فَيَرْفَعُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّصْرَانِيَّةِ صَلِيبًا فَيَقُولُ غَلَبَ الصَّلِيبُ فَيَغْضَبُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَيَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ فَيَدُقُّهُ فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ تَغْدِرُ الرُّومُ وَيَجْمَعُونَ لِلْمَلْحَمَةِ  

ahmad:23158Abū ʿĀmir ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿAmr

When I came to Madinah, sickness was occurring in the city and they were dying quickly. I sat with 'Umar bin al Khattab ؓ and a funeral passed by, Good things were said about (the deceased) and ‘Umar ؓ said: It is due. Then another (funeral) passed by; good things were said about (the deceased) and he said: It is due. Then a third funeral passed by: bad things were said about the deceased and ‘Umar said: It is due. I said: What is due, O Ameer al Mu'mineen? He said: I said what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿAny Muslim in whose favour four people testify, Allah will admit him to Paradise.ʿ We said: Or three? He said: “Or three.ʿ We said: Or two? He said: ʿOr two.” Then we did not ask him about one, (Using translation from Aḥmad 204)

[Machine] "I saw a man in the city, and people were surrounding him as he said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said." Then a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, 'I heard him say that after you, there will be a liar who misguides, and indeed his head is filled with love for you, love for you, love for you three times. And he will claim, 'I am your Lord.' So whoever says, 'You are not our Lord, but our Lord is Allah upon whom we rely and to whom we turn for refuge from his evil,' he will have no authority over him."  

أحمد:٢٣١٥٩حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَقَدْ طَافَ النَّاسُ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ مِنْ بَعْدِكُمُ الْكَذَّابَ الْمُضِلَّ وَإِنَّ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ حُبُكٌ حُبُكٌ حُبُكٌ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَإِنَّهُ سَيَقُولُ أَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَمَنْ قَالَ لَسْتَ رَبَّنَا لَكِنَّ رَبَّنَا اللهُ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْهِ أَنَبْنَا نَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شَرِّكَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ سُلْطَانٌ  

ahmad:23160Abū Qaṭan > Yūnus > Juray al-Nahdī > Laqīt Shaykh from Banī Sulaym Bi-al-Kunāsah

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ counted them out in my hand” - or - “in his hand: ‘At-Tasbīḥ is half of the Scale, and “All praise is due to Allah (Al-Ḥamdulillāh)” fills it, and At-Takbīr (Allāhu Akbar) fills what is between the sky and the earth, and fasting is half of patience, and purification is half of faith.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3519)   

أحمد:٢٣١٦٠حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنْ جُرَيٍّ النَّهْدِيِّ قَالَ

لَقِيتُ شَيْخًا مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ بِالْكُنَاسَةِ فَحَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَدَّ خَمْسًا فِي يَدِهِ أَوْ فِي يَدِي قَالَ التَّسْبِيحُ نِصْفُ الْمِيزَانِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ يَمْلَؤُهُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ يَمْلَأُ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالصَّوْمُ نِصْفُ الصَّبْرِ وَالطُّهُورُ نِصْفُ الْإِيمَانِ

[Machine] While I was circumambulating the Kaaba, a man from the tribe of Sulaim approached me and said, "Shall I give you glad tidings?" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "Do you remember when the Prophet ﷺ sent me to your people, the tribe of Sa'd, to invite them to Islam?" I said, "Yes." He said, "I swear by Allah, he said nothing but good things about you. I only hear good about you. I have returned and told the Prophet ﷺ about our conversation." The Prophet ﷺ then prayed, "O Allah, forgive ahl-an-Nisaa." So I don't expect anyone to be more hopeful for her than me.

بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ إِذْ لَقِيَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ أَتَذْكُرُ إِذْ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى قَوْمِكَ بَنِي سَعْدٍ أَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ؟ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ وَاللهِ مَا قَالَ إِلَّا خَيْرًا وَلَا أَسْمَعُ إِلَّا حُسْنًا فَإِنِّي رَجَعْتُ فَأَخْبَرْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِمَقَالَتِكَ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْأَحْنَفِ قَالَ فَمَا أَنَا بشَيْءٍ أَرْجَى مِنِّي لهَا
