12. Remaing Anṣār (2/28)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Allah has allotted to every servant five things: his lifespan, his sustenance, his deeds, and whether he will be miserable or happy.
[Machine] He visited Abu Darda in Homs and stayed with him for several nights. He ordered his donkey to be brought to him, so it was brought to him. Abu Darda said, "I only see myself being followed by you." So he ordered his donkey to be saddled, and they both rode on their donkeys. They met a man who had witnessed the Friday prayer yesterday with Muawiyah in Al-Jabiya. The man recognized both of them, but they did not recognize him. The man informed them of the news that people were talking about. Then, the man said, "I have another news that I disliked telling you, which is that I saw you both being hated." Abu Darda said, "Perhaps Abu Dharr was exiled?" The man said, "Yes, by Allah." Abu Darda and his companion turned back several times, then Abu Darda said, "Wait for them and be patient, as it was said to the owners of camels. O Allah, if they accuse Abu Dharr of lying, I do not accuse him of lying. O Allah, if they accuse him falsely, I do not accuse him falsely. O Allah, if they doubt him, I do not doubt him. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ trusted him when he did not trust anyone else, and he confided in him when he did not confide in anyone else. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Abu Darda, if Abu Dharr severed my hand, I would still hate him after what I have heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said, 'Green plants cannot mislead you or deceive you more than someone with eloquent speech like Abu Dharr.'"
The Prophet ﷺ said: The place of assembly of the Muslims at the time of the war will be in al-Ghutah near a city called Damascus, one of the best cities in Syria. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4298)
[Machine] Indeed, my wife is the daughter of my maternal aunt and I love her. However, my mother is commanding me to divorce her. He (the Prophet) said, "I do not command you to divorce her, and I do not command you to disobey your mother. But I will tell you something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Indeed, the mother is the middle door of Paradise. So if you wish, hold on to her, and if you wish, let her go.'"
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Allah says, "Then We have given the Book as inheritance to those We have chosen of Our servants, and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah. Then as for those who are foremost in good deeds, they will be the ones who will enter Paradise to enjoy [its blessings] without [any] accounting. And as for those who were moderate in good deeds, they will have [only] a moderate reward. And as for those who were wrongdoers, they will have a share of punishment proportionate to their sins. And they will not be wronged. Then it is they who will be the ones to burn in Hell, and Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. And for them is painful punishment." Until His saying, "They are the ones who will say, 'Praise be to Allah, who has removed from us [all] sorrow. Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative. He has granted us Paradise, flowing with rivers of milk, honey and wine.' " Until His saying, "but the sinners will abide eternally in Hellfire."
[Machine] "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that the headache and dizziness will continue to afflict the believer, and his sins are like the size of Mount Uhud, but it does not leave him except for the weight of a mustard seed."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs the Friday prayer, then washes himself, wears clean clothes, applies perfume if available, walks to the prayer without pushing or harming anyone, observes the prescribed number of units of prayer, and waits for the Imam until he finishes, he will be forgiven from one Jumu'ah to the next."
It was narrated that Ubayy ibn Ka'b said, "One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat on the pulpit, delivered a sermon to the people, and recited a verse. I was sitting next to him and I asked, 'O Ubayy, when was this verse revealed?' He refused to respond to me. I asked him again but he still refused to answer until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his sermon. Then I went to him and informed him. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you recited a verse and Ubayy was sitting next to me. I asked him when it was revealed and he refused to answer until you finished. Then he said to me, 'O Ubayy, you have nothing from your Friday prayer except what you have paid attention to.' So when you hear your Imam speaking, listen to him until he finishes."

[Machine] I heard Umm Addardaa say, whenever Abu Addardaa would speak, he would smile. So I said, "People will say that you are foolish." He replied, "I have never seen or heard the Prophet ﷺ speak without smiling."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was sleeping, I saw the pillar of the book being carried from under my head. I thought that it was being taken away, so I followed it with my sight. It was being taken to Sham. Verily, faith is in Sham when corruption occurs."

[Machine] "When someone greeted him with good health, not illness, three times, he would say that. Then he said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, 'The afflictions of a Muslim continue to be in his body, headaches and migraines, although his sins are greater than Mount Uhud, until he leaves them. And his sins are like the weight of a mustard seed''."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am the first to be called to prostrate on the Day of Resurrection, and I am the first to be given permission to raise my head and look between my hands so that I can recognize my ummah from among the other nations. Likewise, I will recognize them from behind me, from my right, and from my left." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how will you recognize your ummah among the nations from the time of Noah until your ummah?" He replied, "They will have bright faces and marks on their foreheads from wudu (ablution). No one will be like them in this regard. Furthermore, I will recognize them because they will come on the Day of Judgement with their books in their right hands, and I will recognize them because their descendants will come running before them."

[Machine] "That their light strides before them and by their right hands."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am the first to be called to prostrate and he mentioned its meaning."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, I will recognize my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection among the nations." They said, "O Prophet of Allah, how will you recognize your Ummah?" He said, "I will recognize them by their books which will be given to them in their right hands, and I will recognize them by the traces of prostration on their faces, and I will recognize them by their radiance which will be shining in front of them."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should neglect to perform a thousand good deeds for Allah in the morning, saying 'SubhanAllah wa bihamdih' (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him) one hundred times, for indeed it is a thousand good deeds. And he who does not do so, by the will of Allah, will not perform anything equivalent to that in a day of sins. And there will be no good deeds he does besides that of much value."
12.3 [Machine] Osama bin Zaid's Love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
Ibrahim bin ’Uqabah said “Kuraib told me that he asked Umamah bin Zaid saying tell me how you did in the evening when you rode behind the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ. He said “We came to the valley where the people make their Camels kneel down to take rest at night.” The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ made his she Camel kneel down and he then urinated. He then called for water for ablution and performed the ablution but he did not perform minutely (but performed lightly). I asked Apostle of Allaah ﷺ, prayer? He replied “Prayer ahead of you”. He then mounted (the Camel) till we came to Al Muzadalifah. There iqamah for the sunset prayer was called. The people then made their Camels kneel down at their places. The Camels were not unloaded as yet, iqamah for the night prayers was called and he prayed. The people then unloaded the Camels. The narrator Muhammad added in his version of the tradition How did you do when the morning came? He replied Al Fadl rode behind him and I walked on foot among the people of the Quraish who went ahead. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1921)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There is no riba (usury) in hand to hand transactions. He meant that riba is only in transactions involving women."
The client of Usamah ibn Zayd said that he went along with Usamah to Wadi al-Qura in pursuit of his camels. He would fast on Monday and Thursday. His client said to him: Why do you fast on Monday and Thursday, while you are an old man? He said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to fast on Monday and Thursday. When he was asked about it, he said: The works of the servants (of Allah) are presented (to Allah) on Monday and Thursday. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2436)
[Machine] We sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Al-Hurqah from the tribe of Juheinah. He said, "We attacked them in the morning and fought against them. Among them was a man who, when the enemy approached, was the bravest among them against us. But when they turned their backs, he became their protector." He said, "I and a man from the Ansar overwhelmed him." When we overwhelmed him, he said, "There is no god but Allah." The Ansari hesitated and I killed him. When the Prophet ﷺ was informed about this, he said, "O Usama! Did you kill him after he said, 'There is no god but Allah'?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! He only said it to protect himself from being killed." The Prophet ﷺ repeated, "Did you kill him after he said, 'There is no god but Allah'?" I said it again, "O Messenger of Allah! He only said it to protect himself from being killed."

He said: 'I did not find it in the Book of Allah, nor did I hear it from the messenger of Allah, rather Usamah bin Zaid told me that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Riba is only in credit."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4581)
[Machine] From him, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, this is a punishment that Allah has sent upon people before you or a group from the Children of Israel. It comes sometimes and goes sometimes. So, when it occurs in a land, do not enter it, and when it occurs in your land, do not flee from it."
[Machine] He said, "O Messenger of Allah, where will you stay tomorrow if Allah wills?" At the time of conquest, he said, "Has Abu Bakr left any place for us to stay?" Then he said, "A disbeliever does not inherit from a believer, nor does a believer inherit from a disbeliever."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast on certain days until it was said that he never breaks his fast, and he would break his fast on certain days until it was said that he hardly ever fasts, except for two days of the week, unless there was a fasting in the month, then he would fast those two days as well. He did not fast any month as much as he fasted in Sha'ban. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you fast so much that it seems like you never break your fast, and you break your fast so much that it seems like you hardly ever fast. He said, "Which two days?" I said, "Monday and Thursday." He said, "Those are two days when deeds are shown (to Allah) and I love that my deeds should be shown (to Allah) when I am fasting." I said, "And I have never seen you fasting in any month as you fast in Sha'ban." He said, "That is a month between Rajab and Ramadan that people neglect, but it is a month in which deeds are raised up to the Lord of the worlds, and I love that my deeds should be raised up when I am fasting."

I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was unable to speak (because of weakness), so he did not say anything. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to place his hands upon me and then raise them up, so I knew he was supplicating for me." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3817)

[Machine] I entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to visit Abdullah bin Ubayy while he was sick, so we were seeking his forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "I used to forbid you from showing love to the Jews." Abdullah replied, "Indeed, I have detested them since As'ad bin Zurara passed away, and he died."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed prayer in the house.
[Machine] I was a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the evening of Arafat. When the sun set, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pushed forward. When he heard the commotion of the people behind him, he said softly, "O people, calm down. Surely, righteousness is not achieved through chaos." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would lower his head when the people crowded around him, and when he found a slight opening, he would proceed until he reached Muzdalifah. He would pray there, combining the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers.

[Machine] I was walking behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the evening of Arafah, and when the sun had set, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pushed ahead. When he heard the sound of people behind him, he said, "Calm down, O people, for surely righteousness is not attained by haste." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , when the people crowded around him, he would straighten his neck, and when he found an opening, he would move forward until he reached the place where many people claim he performed Salah. He then descended from his mount, and he made a sign with his hands, saying, "Pour the water as you say." Then I brought him the container, and he performed the wudu' (ablution). Then he said, "I said Salah, O Messenger of Allah." He replied, "The Salah is in front of you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then mounted and did not perform Salah until he reached Muzdalifah. He descended there and combined the Maghrib and Isha prayers.

What have you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ about plague? Thereupon Usama said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Plague is a calamity which was sent to Bani Isra'il or upon those who were before you. So when you hear that it has broken out in a land, don't go to it, and when it has broken out in the land where you are, don't run out of it. In the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Nadr there is a slight variation of wording. (Using translation from Muslim 2218a)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Verily, Allah does not like every vulgar and obscene person."
[Machine] Usama bin Zaid heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "He combined the Maghrib and Isha prayers at Muzdalifah."
Usamah bin Zaid said I asked Apostle of Allaah ﷺ where will you encamp tomorrow? (This is asked on the occasion of his Hajj). He replied “Did ‘Aqil leave any house for us?” He again said “We shall encamp in the valley (Khaif) of Banu Kinanah where the Quraish took an oath upon disbelief, that is, Al Muhassab.” The oath was that Banu Kinanah concluded a pact with the Quraish against Banu Hashim “they would have no marital relationship with them, nor would give them accommodation nor would have any commercial ties with them.” Al Zuhri said Al Khaif means valley. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2010)
Do not scatter the dust over us (Not minding this remark), the Prophet ﷺ greeted them, stopped, got down from his animal, invited them to Allah, and recited to them the Qur'an. 'Abdullah b. Ubayy said: O man, if what you say is the truth, the best thing for you would be not to bother us with it in our assemblies. Get back to your place. Whoso comes to you from us, tell him (all) this. Abdullah b. Rawaha said: Come to us in our gatherings, for we love (to hear) it. The narrator says: (At this), the Muslims, the polytheists and the Jews began to rebuke one another until they were determined to come to blows. The Prophet ﷺ continued to pacify them. (When they were pacified), he rode his animal and came to Sa'd b. 'Ubida. He said: Sa'd, haven't you heard what Abu Hubab (meaning 'Abdullah b. Ubayy) has said? He has said so and so. Sa'd said: Messenger of Allah, forgive and pardon. God has granted you a sublime position, (but so far as he is concerned) the people of this settlement had-decided to make him their king by making him wear a crown and a turban (in token thereof), but God has circumvented this by the truth He has granted you. This has made him jealous and his jealousy (must have) prompted the behaviour that you have witnessed. So, the Prophet (may peace upon him) forgave him. (Using translation from Muslim 1798a)
