[Machine] I was sitting close to the Prophet ﷺ , and he said to me, "O Mu'adh, do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah upon His servants is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him. Do you know what the right of the servants upon Allah is if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "He will admit them to Paradise."

The Prophet ﷺ said: Fighting is of two kinds: The one who seeks Allah's favour, obeys the leader, gives the property he values, treats his associates gently and avoids doing mischief, will have the reward for all the time whether he is asleep or awake; but the one who fights in a boasting spirit, for the sake of display and to gain a reputation, who disobeys the leader and does mischief in the earth will not return credit or without blame. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2515)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is no Muslim who spends the night remembering Allah in a state of purity, then he wakes up in the middle of the night and asks Allah for good in this world and the Hereafter, except that Allah will grant him what he asked for." Hasan (good) in his Hadith. Thabit Al-Bunani came to us here and narrated this Hadith from Mu'adh. Abu Salamah said, "I think he meant Abu Dhabiyah."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to Yemen, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went with him and Mu'adh was riding while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked underneath his mount. When they finished, he said, "O Mu'adh, perhaps you will not see me after this year, but perhaps you will pass by my mosque and my grave." Mu'adh cried due to the thought of parting from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then he turned and faced the direction of Madinah and said, "Indeed, those who fear Allah and are righteous are the closest to me, no matter where they may be."
[Machine] He used to say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to Yemen, and he said, "Perhaps you will pass by my grave and my mosque. I have sent you to a people whose hearts are gentle, they fight for the truth twice. Fight alongside those who obey you and those who disobey you until the woman surpasses her husband, the child surpasses his father, and the brother surpasses his brother. Then, settle between the two sacred places - Sakun and Sakkasik."
[Machine] "When Mu'adh was sent by the Prophet (PBUH), he accompanied him. Mu'adh was riding while the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was walking under his mount. When they finished, the Prophet (PBUH) said, "O Mu'adh, it is possible that you will not see me after this year, and perhaps you will pass by my mosque and my grave." Mu'adh ibn Jabal then burst into tears out of eagerness to part with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Do not cry, O Mu'adh, for crying is from Satan."
[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'There will be people in the end times who are brothers of the publicity and enemies of the virtue.' It was asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, how will that be?' He said, 'That will be due to the preference of some of them over others and the fear of some of them from others.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a man who was praying and saying in his supplication, "O Allah, I ask you for patience." The Prophet said, "You have asked for affliction, so ask Allah for well-being." He then passed by a man who was saying, "O Allah, I ask you for the completion of your blessings." The Prophet asked him, "Do you know what is the completion of blessings?" The man replied, "O Messenger of Allah, it is a supplication through which I hope for goodness." The Prophet said, "The completion of blessings is salvation from the Fire and entry into Paradise." He then passed by a man who was saying, "O You of Majesty and Generosity." The Prophet said to him, "Your supplication has been answered, so ask."
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Islam increases and does not diminish. He, therefore, appointed a Muslim heir (of a non-Muslim). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2912)
[Machine] Narrated from the wonders of the Prophet's speech ﷺ he said, "I used to be behind the Prophet ﷺ on a donkey. He said, 'O Mu'adh!' So I said, 'Labbayk, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'The right of Allah upon His servants is to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him. Do you know what the right of the servants upon Allah is if they do that?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'The right of the servants upon Allah is that He does not punish them.'
[Machine] He said, "O Messenger of Allah, advise me." He said, "Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed which will wipe it out." He said, "Advise me more." He said, "Treat people with good manners."
[Machine] We were informed by someone who witnessed Muadh at the time of his death. He said, "Remove the veil of the dome from me, so that I may speak to you. I heard something from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and I want to tell you about it. There is nothing preventing me from telling you about it, except that you should rely on what I heard. He said, 'Whoever witnesses that there is no god but Allah sincerely from his heart or with certainty from his heart, he will not enter the Fire or will enter Paradise.' He also said, 'He will enter Paradise and the Fire will not touch him.'"
"How will you judge?" He said: "I will judge according to what is in Allah's Book." He said: "If it is not in Allah's Book ?" He said: "Then with the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said: "If it is not in the Sunnah of Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He said: "I will give in my view." He said: "All praise is due to Allah, the One Who made the messenger of the Messenger of Allah suitable." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1327)
It was narrated from Mu’adh bin Jabal that the Prophet ﷺ combined the Zuhr and ‘Asr, and the Maghrib and ‘Isha’ when traveling during the campaign of Tabuk. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1070)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'May your mother lose you! Do people fall on their faces in Hell except due to the harvest of their tongues?'"
[Machine] "I came to the mosque of the people of Damascus, and there was a circle in which were elderly companions of the Prophet ﷺ and there were young men among them with kohl-lined eyes, with shining blackness. Whenever they differed in something, they would return it to a young lad. I said to a companion sitting next to me, 'Who is this?' He said, 'This is Muadh ibn Jabal.' I came from the evening, but they did not attend. I came again the next morning, but they did not come. I was happy, and suddenly, I saw the young man praying towards a canister. I prayed behind him, and then turned towards him. He greeted, and I approached him and said, 'Indeed, I love you for the sake of Allah.' He said, 'Draw me closer.' He asked, 'How did you say it?' I said, 'Indeed, I love you for the sake of Allah.' He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Those who love each other for the sake of Allah are upon pulpits of light on the Day when there is no shade except His shade.' I left until I met Ubada ibn Samit, and I mentioned to him the hadith of Muadh ibn Jabal. He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrate from his Lord, 'My love is due to those who love each other for my sake, and My love is due to those who spend on each other for My sake, and My love is due to those who visit each other for My sake. And those who love each other for the sake of Allah are upon pulpits of light on the Day when there is no shade except His shade.'"

[Machine] I entered the mosque of Homs and found a gathering of thirty-two men from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and among them was a young boy with dark eyes, and he mentioned the narration.

[Machine] We trailed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Isha prayer and he remained in seclusion until we thought he would not come out. The saying among us was that he had prayed and would not come out. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out, so we said, "O Messenger of Allah, we thought that you would not come out, and the one among us who said so claimed that you had prayed and would not come out." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adhere to this prayer, for it has been given superiority over the prayers of all the nations that were before you."

[Machine] I heard Mu'adh saying, "We served the Prophet ﷺ," which means we waited for him, and he mentioned his significance with us.
[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the battle of Tabuk, and when I saw him alone, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, inform me of an action that will admit me into Paradise." He said, "You have asked about something great, yet it is easy upon those whom Allah makes it easy. Establish the obligatory prayers, pay the obligatory zakah, and have sincerity towards Allah - do not associate anything with Him. Shall I not guide you to the head of the matter, its pillar, and its pinnacle?" I said, "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The head of the matter is Islam, the one who submits, his religion is safe. As for its pillar, it is the prayer, and as for its pinnacle, it is jihad in the way of Allah." He asked, "Shall I not inform you of the gates of goodness?" I said, "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sins, and the prayer of a person in the depths of the night erases sins." Then, he recited the verse, "Their sides forsake their beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend from what We have provided for them" (Surah As-Sajdah, 32:16). He asked, "Shall I not inform you of what controls all of that?" I said, "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." He pointed with his hand towards his tongue and said, "Restrain this." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be held accountable for what we say?" He said, "May your mother lose you, O Mu'adh! Are people thrown into the Hellfire upon their faces except due to the harvest of their tongues?" Shu'bah said, "The judge conveyed this to me and narrated it from Maymun ibn Abi Shabib, and the judge said, 'I heard it from him forty years ago.'"

God willing, you would reach by tomorrow the fountain of Tabuk and you should not come to that until it is dawn, and he who amongst you happens to go there should not touch its water until I come. We came to that and two persons (amongst) us reached that fountain ahead of us. It was a thin flow of water like the shoelace. Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked them whether they had touched the water. They said: Yes. Allah's Apostle ﷺ scolded them, and he said to them what he had to say by the will of God. The people then took water of the fountain in their palms until it became somewhat significant and Messenger of Allah ﷺ washed his hands and his face too in it, and then, took it again in that (fountain) and there gushed forth abundant water from that fountain, until all the people drank to their fill. He then said: Mu'adh, it is likely that if you live long that you see what is here filled with gardens. (Using translation from Muslim 706c)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If you wish, I can inform you about the first thing Allah will say to the believers on the Day of Resurrection, and the first thing they will say to Him.' We said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Allah will ask the believers, "Did you love to meet Me?" They will say, "Yes, O our Lord." Allah will then ask them, "Why?" They will say, "We hoped for Your forgiveness and mercy." Allah will say, "Indeed, My forgiveness and mercy are granted to you."

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that one day he rode on a donkey named "Ya'foor", his reins were made of a type of flax. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Ride, O Mu'adh!" So I said, "Go ahead, O Messenger of Allah." Then he rode and the donkey stumbled with us. The Prophet ﷺ started laughing, and while I was feeling sorry for myself, he did it again for a second time, and then a third time. Then he rode and the donkey walked with us. He put his hand behind and struck my back with a whip or stick he had. Then he said, "O Mu'adh, do you know the right of Allah upon His servants?" So I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of Allah upon His servants is that they should worship Him and not associate anything with Him." He said, "Then he walked as Allah willed, and then put his hand again and struck my back. He said, "O Mu'adh, son of Mu'adh's mother, do you know the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The right of the servants upon Allah if they do that is that He will admit them to Paradise."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ advised me with ten words. He said: Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are killed or burned. Do not disobey your parents, even if they order you to leave your family and wealth. Do not neglect the obligatory prayers intentionally, for whoever leaves the obligatory prayer intentionally, Allah's protection is lifted from him. Do not drink alcohol, as it is the root of every evil. Beware of committing sins, for sins bring about Allah's anger. Beware of fleeing from the battlefield, even if people are killed and you are among them, remain steadfast. Provide for your family based on your ability and do not raise your stick toward them as a sign of discipline. Honor them in the sight of Allah.

She left their father at home, the youngest of whom had been breastfeeding, and she greeted Mu'adh and two men from her sons were holding onto her garment. She asked him, "Who sent you, O man?" Mu'adh replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me." The woman said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent you and you are the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? Why don't you inform me, O messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" So Mu'adh said, "Ask me whatever you wish." She asked, "Tell me about the rights of a man over his wife?" Mu'adh said, "Fear Allah as much as you can, listen and obey." She said, "By Allah, I vowed that you would inform me about the rights of a man over his wife." Mu'adh said, "Even if you were to hear and obey and fear Allah?" She replied, "Yes, but tell me about the rights of a man over his wife. For I have left my father, an elderly man, at home." Mu'adh said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Mu'adh, if you were to return and find him with leprosy, with his flesh and the tips of his fingers oozing pus and blood, you would still lick them to fulfill his rights upon you."

[Machine] I entered the mosque of Hims and found around thirty young men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. Among them was a young man with dark eyes and radiant complexion, silent and serene. Whenever the people needed something, they would come to him and ask him. I asked my neighbor, "Who is this?" He replied, "This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal." I developed a love for him in my heart and I stayed with them until they dispersed. Then I migrated to the mosque and there I found Mu'adh ibn Jabal standing and praying near a column. He remained silent and did not speak to me. I prayed and then sat down, wrapping myself in my cloak. He sat there silently without speaking to me, and I also remained silent. Then I said, "By Allah, I love you." He asked, "For what reason do you love me?" I replied, "For the sake of Allah the Most Blessed and Exalted." He held my collar and pulled me towards him gently, then he said, "Rejoice! If you are truthful, then I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Those who love each other for my sake will have pulpits of light, and they will envy the prophets and martyrs.'" He then left, and I met Ubada ibn As-Samit and said to him, "O Abu Al-Walid, I inform you of what Mu'adh ibn Jabal said about those who love each other for the sake of Allah." Ubada replied, "Let me tell you what the Prophet ﷺ said about this. He said, 'By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, your love for the sake of Allah is confirmed. Your love for those you meet and accompany is confirmed. And your love for those you spend money on and support is confirmed. And your love for those you maintain ties with is confirmed.'"

[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah, seeking him. It was said to me that he had gone out. So, I decided not to appoint anyone until it was said to me that he had just passed. I kept going until I found him standing and praying. I approached him and stood behind him. The prayer became longer, and when he finished the prayer, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you have prayed a long prayer.' The Messenger of Allah replied, 'Indeed, I have prayed a prayer out of desire and fear. I asked Allah for three things, and He granted me two and prevented me from one. I asked Him that my Ummah not be destroyed by drowning, and He granted it. I asked Him that He not make an enemy from outside of them overpower them, and He granted it. And I asked Him that He not cause them to fight amongst themselves, and He returned that to me.'"

Harun said, "Between the forty and fifty."

[Machine] "It is the mercy of your Lord and the supplication of your Prophet and the gathering of the righteous before you. O Allah, grant the family of Mu'adh their share of this mercy. Then he descended from his position and entered upon Abdurrahman bin Mu'adh. Abdurrahman said, 'The truth is from your Lord, so be not of those who are skeptical.' (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:147). Mu'adh said, 'You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient.' (Surah As-Saaffat, 37:102)."
