Every one of the children of Adam has been created with three hundred and sixty joints; so he who declares the Glory of Allah, praises Allah, declares Allah to be One, Glorifies Allah, and seeks forgiveness from Allah, and removes stone, or thorn, or bone from people's path, and enjoins what is good and forbids from evil, to the number of those three hundred and sixty joints, will walk that day having saved himself from the Fire. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and will not attain benefitting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My dominion in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My dominion in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to rise up in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more that a needle decreases the sea if put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I record for you and then recompense you for. So let him who finds good, praise Allah, and let him who finds other than that blame no one but himself."

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ in what he narrates from his Lord ﷻ: "Indeed, I have forbidden oppression upon myself and upon My servants. So, do not oppress one another. All of the children of Adam are prone to error, day and night, but they who seek forgiveness from Me are forgiven and it is of no concern to Me. O children of Adam, all of you are astray except those whom I have guided. And all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed. And all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed. So, seek from Me and I will provide for you. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, the jinn of you and the humans of you, the young of you and the old of you, the males of you and the females of you, and the clean of you and the impure of you—all of you were to stand upon the heart of the most righteous among you, then that would not increase My dominion over you in anything. And if the first of you and the last of you, the jinn of you and the humans of you, the young of you and the old of you, the males of you and the females of you, and the clean of you and the impure of you—all of you were to stand upon the heart of the most wicked among you, then that would not decrease My dominion over you in anything. For My dominion is like the ocean, and the needle of a sewing machine is like your dominion."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ often would say, "subḥāna Allāhi wa-bi-ḥamdihī, astaghfiru Allāh wa-atūbu ilayhi (Glory be to Allah and with His praise, I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent to Him.)"

She said: I asked: Messenger of Allah, I see that you often repeat the saying subḥāna Allāhi wa-bi-ḥamdihī astaghfiru Allāh wa-atūbu ilayhi. He said, "My Lord informed me that I would soon see a sign in my Ummah. So when I see it I often say: subḥāna Allāhi wa-bi-ḥamdihī, astaghfiru Allāh wa-atūbu ilayhi. Indeed I saw it ˹when this āyah˺ was revealed: 'When the Help of Allah and the victory came,' i.e. Conquest of Makkah, 'And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes, Then exalt ˹Him˺ with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.' (Naṣr 110:1-3"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently say before his death, "SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi, astaghfirullah wa atubu ilayhi." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you supplicate with a supplication that you did not use to supplicate with before today." He said, "Indeed, my Lord has informed me that I will see a sign in my Ummah, and when I see that sign, I should say 'SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi' and seek forgiveness from Him. He replied, "Verily, my Lord, the Exalted and Glorious, has told me that He would send down (the news of) knowledge to me until I would see a sign which every Muslim would acknowledge. And the event which is to take place (in the near future) had already taken place, so there is no use in supplicating for it. Gather some men of your family so that I should talk to them. He ('As'as) sent a messenger to them (to the members of his family). When they had assembled, Jundab came there with a yellow hooded cloak on him, He said: Talk what you were busy in talking. The talk went on by turns, till there came his (Jundab's) turn. He took off the hooded cloak from his head and said: I have come to you with no other intention but to narrate to you a hadith of your Apostle: Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a squad of the Muslims to a tribe of the polytheists. Both the armies confronted one another. There was a man among the army of polytheists who (was so dashing that), whenever he intended to kill a man from among the Muslims, he killed him. Amongst the Muslims too was a man looking forward to (an opportunity of) his (the polytheist's) unmindfulness. He (the narrator) said: We talked that he was Usama b, Zaid. When he raised his sword, he (the soldier of the polytheists) uttered:" There is no god but Allah," but he (Usama b. Zaid) killed him. When the messenger of the glad tidings came to the Apostle ﷺ he asked him (about the events of the battle) and he informed him about the man (Usama) and what he had done He (the Prophet of Allah) called for him and asked him why he had killed him. He (Usama) said: Messenger of Allah, he struck the Muslims and killed such and such of them. And he even named some of them. (He continued): I attacked him and when he saw the sword he said: There is no god but Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Did you kill him? He (Usama) replied in the affirmative. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: What would you do with:" There is no god but Allah," when he would come (before you) on the Day of Judgment? He (Usama) said: Messenger of Allah, beg pardon for me (from your Lord). He (the Holy Prophet) said: What would you do with:" There is no god but Allah" when he would come (before you) on the Day of Judgment? He (the Holy Prophet) added nothing to it but kept saying: What would you do with:" There is no god but Allah," when he would come (before you) on the Day of Judgment?

The Prophet ﷺ advised women to increase in giving charity and doing istighfār

muslim:79aMuḥammad b. Rumḥ b. al-Muhājir al-Miṣrī > al-Layth > Ibn al-Hād > ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: "O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you from the majority of the people of Hellfire."

A wise lady among them said, "Why is it, O Messenger of Allah, that we are the majority of those in the Hellfire?" He said, "You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none – who are lacking in discernment and in religion – tempt and cause the ones possessing intellect to be succumbed by them, besides you all."

She said, "What is the lack in our discernment and religion? He said, "As for the lack of discernment is the fact that the testimony of two women are equal to one man making this a lack of discernment. And that you spend ˹several˺ nights in which you do not pray nor fast in the month of Ramaḍān making this lack in religion."

ibnmajah:4003Muḥammad b. Rumḥ > al-Layth b. Saʿd > Ibn al-Hād > ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

“O women, give in charity and pray a great deal for forgiveness, for I have seen that you form the majority of the people of Hell.” A woman who was very wise said: “Why is it, O Messenger of Allah, that we form the majority of the people of Hell?” He said: “You curse a great deal and you are ungrateful to your husbands, and I have never seen anyone lacking in discernment and religion more overwhelming to a man of wisdom than you.” She said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is this lacking in discernment and religion?” He said: “The lack of discernment is the fact that the testimony of two women is equal to the testimony of one man; this is the lack of reason. And (a woman) spends several nights when she does not pray, and she does not fast in Ramadhan, and this is the lack in religion.”

O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady among them said: Why is it, Messenger of Allah, that our folk is in bulk in Hell? Upon this the Prophet observed: You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common sense and failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing the wisdom of the wise, besides you. Upon this the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense and with religion? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Your lack of common sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of two women is equal to one man, that is a proof of the lack of common sense, and you spend some nights (and days) in which you do not offer prayer and in the month of Ramadan (during the days) you do not observe fast, that is a failing in religion. Importance of sin and forgiveness in the Plan of Allah

[كر] ابن عساكر في تاريخه عن أنس أن أصحاب النبي ﷺ شكوا إليه: إنا نصيب من الذنوب، فقال لهم: فذكره

muslim:771aMuḥammad b. Abū Bakr al-Muqaddamī > Yūsuf al-Mājishūn from my father > ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Aʿraj > ʿUbaydullāh b. Abū Rāfiʿ > ʿAlī b. Abū Ṭālib

from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that when he used to stand up for Ṣalāh, he said: "I turn my face in complete devotion to One Who is the Originator of the heaven and the earth and I am not of the polytheists. Verily my prayer, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds; There is no partner with Him and this is what I have been commanded (to profess and believe) and I am of the believers. O Allah, Thou art the King, there is no god but Thee, Thou art my Lord, and I am Thy bondman. I wronged myself and make a confession of my Sin. Forgive all my sins, for no one forgives the sins but Thee, and guide me in the best of conduct for none but Thee guideth anyone (in) good conduct. Remove sins from me, for none else but Thou can remove sins from me. Here I am at Thy service, and Grace is to Thee and the whole of good is in Thine hand, and one cannot get nearness to Thee through evil. My (power as well as existence) is due to Thee (Thine grace) and I turn to Thee (for supplication). Thou art blessed and Thou art exalted. I seek forgiveness from Thee and turn to Thee in repentance."

And when he would bow, he would say: "O Allah, it is for Thee that I bowed. I affirm my faith in Thee and I submit to Thee, and submit humbly before Thee my hearing, my eyesight, my marrow, my bone, my sinew; and when he would raise his head, he would say: O Allah, our Lord, praise is due to Thee, (the praise) with which is filled the heavens and the earth, and with which is filled that (space) which exists between them, and filled with anything that Thou desireth afterward. And when he prostrated himself, he (the Holy Prophet) would say: O Allah, it is to Thee that I prostrate myself and it is in Thee that I affirm my faith, and I submit to Thee. My face is submitted before One Who created it, and shaped it, and opened his faculties of hearing and seeing. Blessed is Allah, the best of Creators; and he would then say between Tashahhud and the pronouncing of salutation: Forgive me of the earlier and later open and secret (sins) and that where I made transgression and that Thou knowest better than I. Thou art the First and the Last. There is no god, but Thee."

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for prayer, he uttered the takbir (Allah is most great), then said: I have turned my face, breaking with all others, towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and I am not a polytheist. My prayer and my devotion, my life and my death belong to Allah, the Lord of the Universe, Who has no partner. That is what I have been commanded, and I am first of Muslims (those who surrender themselves). O Allah, Thou art the King. There is no God but Thee. Thou art my Lord and I am Thy servant. I have wronged myself, but I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me all my sins; Thou Who alone canst forgive sins; and guide me to the best qualities. Thou Who alone canst guide to the best of them; and turn me from evil ones. Thou who alone canst turn from evil qualities. I come to serve and please Thee. All good is in Thy Hands, and evil does not pertain to Thee. I seek refuge in Thee and turn to Thee, Who art blessed and exalted. I ask Thy forgiveness and turn to thee in repentance. When he bowed, he said: O Allah, to Thee I bow, in Thee I trust, and to Thee I submit myself. My hearing, my sight, my brain, my bone and my sinews humble themselves before Thee. When he raised his head, he said: Allah listens to him who praises Him. O our lord, and all praises be to Thee in the whole of the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, and in whatever Thou creates afterwards. When he prostrated himself, he said: O Allah, to Thee I prostrate myself, to Thee I trust, and to Thee I submit myself. My face prostrated itself before Him Who created it, fashioned it, and fashioned it in the best shape, and brought forth its hearing and seeing. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators. When he saluted at the end of the prayer, he said: O Allah, forgive me my former and my latter sins, my open and secret sins, my sins in exceeding the limits, and what Thou knowest better than I. Thou art He Who puts forward and puts back. There is deity but Thee.
