1.36 Clarifying that faith decreases with shortcoming in obedience, and the word Kufr may be used with regard to matters other than dsbelief in Allah, such as ingratitude for blessings and not fulfilling one's duties

١۔٣٦ باب بَيَانِ نُقْصَانِ الإِيمَانِ بِنَقْصِ الطَّاعَاتِ وَبَيَانِ إِطْلاَقِ لَفْظِ الْكُفْرِ عَلَى غَيْرِ الْكُفْرِ بِاللَّهِ كَكُفْرِ النِّعْمَةِ وَالْحُقُوقِ

The Prophet ﷺ advised women to increase in giving charity and doing istighfār

muslim:79aMuḥammad b. Rumḥ b. al-Muhājir al-Miṣrī > al-Layth > Ibn al-Hād > ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: "O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you from the majority of the people of Hellfire."

A wise lady among them said, "Why is it, O Messenger of Allah, that we are the majority of those in the Hellfire?" He said, "You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none – who are lacking in discernment and in religion – tempt and cause the ones possessing intellect to be succumbed by them, besides you all."

She said, "What is the lack in our discernment and religion? He said, "As for the lack of discernment is the fact that the testimony of two women are equal to one man making this a lack of discernment. And that you spend ˹several˺ nights in which you do not pray nor fast in the month of Ramaḍān making this lack in religion."  

مسلم:٧٩aحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحِ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ الْمِصْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ تَصَدَّقْنَ وَأَكْثِرْنَ الاِسْتِغْفَارَ۔ فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُكُنَّ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ۔»

فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ جَزْلَةٌ: وَمَا لَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ؟ قَالَ: «تُكْثِرْنَ اللَّعْنَ، وَتَكْفُرْنَ الْعَشِيرَ، وَمَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْ نَاقِصَاتِ عَقْلٍ وَدِينٍ أَغْلَبَ لِذِي لُبٍّ مِنْكُنَّ۔»

قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا نُقْصَانُ الْعَقْلِ وَالدِّينِ؟ قَالَ: «أَمَّا نُقْصَانُ الْعَقْلِ، فَشَهَادَةُ امْرَأَتَيْنِ تَعْدِلُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلٍ، فَهَذَا نُقْصَانُ الْعَقْلِ، وَتَمْكُثُ اللَّيَالِيَ مَا تُصَلِّي وَتُفْطِرُ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَهَذَا نُقْصَانُ الدِّينِ۔»

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Tahir with this chain of transmitters.  

مسلم:٧٩bوَحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ مُضَرَ

عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ  

muslim:80aal-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī al-Ḥulwānī And ʾAbū Bakr b. Isḥāq > Ibn Abū Maryam > Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Zayd b. Aslam > ʿIyāḍ b. ʿAbdullāh > Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī

A hadith like this as narrated by Ibn 'Umar has also been transmitted by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri.  

مسلم:٨٠aوَحَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ح  

muslim:80bYaḥyá b. Ayyūb And Qutaybah And Ibn Ḥujr > Ismāʿīl Wahū Ibn Jaʿfar > ʿAmr b. Abū ʿAmr > al-Maqburī > Abū Hurayrah

A hadith like this as narrated by Ibn 'Umar has also been transmitted by Abu Huraira.  

مسلم:٨٠bوَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِثْلِ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
