Seventy thousand (persons) of my Ummah would enter Paradise without rendering an account. Upon this a person said: Messenger of Allah. pray to Allah that He make me one of them. He (the Holy Prophet) said: O Allah! make him one of them. Then another stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah that He make me one of them. He (the Holy Prophet) said: 'Ukkasha has preceded you in this matter.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ

I heard Abu Huraira narrate this: I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying a hadith like one narrated by al-Rabi'.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ الرَّبِيعِ

I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: A group of my Ummah consisting of seventy thousand persons would enter Paradise; their faces would be as bright as the brightness of the full moon. Abd Huraira said: 'Ukkasha b. Mihsan al-Asadi then stood up wrapping the blanket around him and said: Messenger of Allah, supplicate (before) Allah that He should make me one among them. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, make him among them. Then stood up a man from the Ansa and said: Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah that He should make me one among them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Ukkasha has preceded you in this matter.

قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي زُمْرَةٌ هُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا تُضِيءُ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِضَاءَةَ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الأَسَدِيُّ يَرْفَعُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Seventy thousand (persons) would enter Paradise as one group and among them (there would be people) whom faces would be bright like the moon.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا زُمْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ

Seventy thousand people of my Ummah would be admitted into Paradise without rendering any account. They (the companions) said: Who would be of those (fortunate persons)? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Those who do not cauterise and practise charm, but repose trust in their Lord, 'Ukkasha then stood up and said: Supplicate (before) Allah that He should make me one among them. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Thou art one among them He (the narrator) said: A man stood up and said: Apostle of Allah, supplicate (before) Allah that He should make me one among them. He (the Prophet said: 'Ukkasha has preceded you (in this matter).

نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ قَالُوا وَمَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ هُمُ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَكْتَوُونَ وَلاَ يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ فَقَالَ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ أَنْتَ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ قَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ

Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Seventy thousand men of my Ummah would enter Paradise without rendering account. They (the companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Who would be those, Messenger of Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) said: They would be those who neither practise charm, not take omens, nor do they cauterise, but they repose their trust in their Lord.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ قَالُوا مَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ هُمُ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلاَ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَلاَ يَكْتَوُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

Seventy thousand persons or seven hundred thousand persons (Abu Hazim does not remember the exact number) would enter Paradise holding and supporting one another, and the first among them would not enter till the last among them would enter (therein) ; (they would enter simultaneously) and their faces would be bright like the full moon.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا أَوْ سَبْعُمِائَةِ أَلْفٍ لاَ يَدْرِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ أَيَّهُمَا قَالَ مُتَمَاسِكُونَ آخِذٌ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا لاَ يَدْخُلُ أَوَّلُهُمْ حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ آخِرُهُمْ وُجُوهُهُمْ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ

[AI] I was with Said ibn Jubair, and he said, "Which of you saw the shooting star last night?" I said, "I did." Then I said, "I was not in prayer, but I had been stung." He said, "Then what did you do?" I said, "I sought ruqyah." He said, "What made you do that?" I said, "A hadith that al-Shabi told us." He said, "And what did al-Shabi tell you?" I said, "He narrated to us from Buraida ibn Husayb al-Aslami that he said, 'There is no ruqyah except for an evil eye or a sting.'" He said, "The one who confines himself to what he heard has done well. But Ibn Abbas narrated to us from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "The nations were shown to me, and I saw a prophet with a small group, and a prophet with one or two men, and a prophet with no one with him. Then a great multitude was raised up for me, and I thought that they were my Ummah. But it was said to me, 'This is Moses ﷺ and his people; rather, look at the horizon.' So I looked, and there was a great multitude. Then it was said to me, 'Look at the other horizon,' and there was a great multitude. Then it was said to me, 'This is your Ummah, and with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning and without punishment.'"" 

Then he got up and entered his house, and the people began discussing those who would enter Paradise without reckoning and without punishment. Some of them said, "Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Others said, "Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and did not associate anything with Allah ﷻ." And they mentioned other things. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to them and said, "What are you discussing?" They informed him, and he said, "They are those who do not perform ruqyah, do not ask for ruqyah, do not seek omens, and they put their trust in their Lord." Then Ukkashah ibn Mihsan stood up and said, "Pray to Allah ﷻ to make me one of them." He said, "You are one of them." Then another man stood up and said, "Pray to Allah ﷻ to make me one of them." He said, "Ukkashah has preceded you in that."

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، فَقَالَ: أَيُّكُمْ رَأَى الْكَوْكَبَ الَّذِي انْقَضَّ الْبَارِحَةَ؟ قُلْتُ: أَنَا. ثُمَّ قُلْتُ: أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ فِي صَلاَةٍ، وَلَكِنِّي لُدِغْتُ. قَالَ: فَمَاذَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قُلْتُ: اسْتَرْقَيْتُ. قَالَ: فَمَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟ قُلْتُ: حَدِيثٌ حَدَّثَنَاهُ الشَّعْبِيُّ. فَقَالَ: وَمَا حَدَّثَكُمُ الشَّعْبِيُّ؟ قُلْتُ: حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُصَيْبٍ الأَسْلَمِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: لاَ رُقْيَةَ إِلاَّ مِنْ عَيْنٍ أَوْ حُمَةٍ. فَقَالَ: قَدْ أَحْسَنَ مَنِ انْتَهَى إِلَى مَا سَمِعَ، 

وَلَكِنْ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «عُرِضَتْ عَلَىَّ الأُمَمُ، فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ وَمَعَهُ الرُّهَيْطُ، وَالنَّبِيَّ وَمَعَهُ الرَّجُلُ وَالرَّجُلاَنِ، وَالنَّبِيَّ لَيْسَ مَعَهُ أَحَدٌ، إِذْ رُفِعَ لِي سَوَادٌ عَظِيمٌ، فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُمْ أُمَّتِي، فَقِيلَ لِي: هَذَا مُوسَى ﷺ وَقَوْمُهُ، وَلَكِنِ انْظُرْ إِلَى الأُفُقِ. فَنَظَرْتُ، فَإِذَا سَوَادٌ عَظِيمٌ، فَقِيلَ لِي: انْظُرْ إِلَى الأُفُقِ الآخَرِ، فَإِذَا سَوَادٌ عَظِيمٌ، فَقِيلَ لِي: هَذِهِ أُمَّتُكَ، وَمَعَهُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ وَلاَ عَذَابٍ». 

ثُمَّ نَهَضَ فَدَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ، فَخَاضَ النَّاسُ فِي أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ وَلاَ عَذَابٍ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: فَلَعَلَّهُمُ الَّذِينَ صَحِبُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: فَلَعَلَّهُمُ الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا فِي الإِسْلاَمِ وَلَمْ يُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ، وَذَكَرُوا أَشْيَاءَ. فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: «مَا الَّذِي تَخُوضُونَ فِيهِ؟» فَأَخْبَرُوهُ، فَقَالَ: «هُمُ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَرْقُونَ وَلاَ يَسْتَرْقُونَ وَلاَ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ، وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ». فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ، فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ. فَقَالَ: «أَنْتَ مِنْهُمْ». ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ، فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ. فَقَالَ: «سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Peoples would be presented to me (on the Day of Resurrection), and then the remaining part of the hadith was narrated like the one transmitted by Hushaim, but he made no mention of the first portion.
