أحمد:٧٣٠٤ – حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَالَ زُهَيْرٌ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ

tirmidhi:780 – Azhar b. Marwān al-Baṣrī > Muḥammad b. Sawāʾ > Saʿīd b. Abū ʿArūbah > Ayyūb > Muḥammad b. Sīrīn > Abū Hurayrah

The Prophet said: "When one of you is invited to eat then let him respond, if he is fasting then let him pray." Meaning: supplicate.  

الترمذي:٧٨٠ – حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَوَاءٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَائِمًا فَلْيُصَلِّ يَعْنِي الدُّعَاءَ

The Prophet said: "When one of you is invited (to a meal) and he is fasting, then let him said: 'Indeed I am fasting.'"

when one of you is invited to a meal, he must accept. If he wishes he may eat, but if he wishes(to leave), he may leave. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3740)   

أحمد:١٥٢١٩ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ شَاءَ طَعِمَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ

الدارمي:١٧٧٨ – أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ  

tabarani:9578 – Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > al-Thawrī > Abū Isḥāq > Qays b. Abū Ḥāzim > Ibn Masʿūd

[Machine] If anyone of you is offered food or drink while fasting, they should say, "I am fasting."  

الطبراني:٩٥٧٨ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

إِذَا عُرِضَ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ طَعَامٌ أَوْ شَرَابٌ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ  

nasai-kubra:6575 – Sulaymān b. Manṣūr al-Balkhī > Abū al-Aḥwaṣ > Sufyān > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When any of you is invited, let him accept, if he wishes he may eat, and if he wishes he may leave."  

الكبرى للنسائي:٦٥٧٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ شَاءَ طَعِمَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ»  

nasai-kubra:6576 – ʿAlī b. Ḥujr > Ismāʿīl > Hishām > Ibn Sīrīn > Abū Hurayrah

When one of you receives an invitation (for a meal), he should accept it. If he isn to fasting, he should eat, and if he is fasten, he should pray. Hisham said: The word salat means to pray (for him to Allah). Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been narrated by Hafs b. Ghiyath from Hisham. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2460)   

الكبرى للنسائي:٦٥٧٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الدَّعْوَةِ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَائِمًا فَلْيُصَلِّ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُفْطِرًا فَلْيَطْعَمْ»

"إِذا جُهِلَ عَلى أحدِكُمْ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فليَقُلْ: أعوذُ باللهِ مِنْكَ، إِنِّي صائِمٌ" .
