ذِكْرُ تَخْيِيرِ الْمَدْعُوِّ إِلَى الدَّعْوَةِ بَعْدَ الْإِجَابَةِ بَيْنَ الْأَكْلِ وَالتَّرْكِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When someone invites you, respond to the invitation. If you wish, you may attend, and if you wish, you may decline."  

ابن حبّان:٥٣٠٣أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُوسَى بِعَسْكَرِ مُكْرَمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَحْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ شَاءَ أَكَلَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ»

when one of you is invited to a meal, he must accept. If he wishes he may eat, but if he wishes(to leave), he may leave. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3740)   

أحمد:١٥٢١٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ شَاءَ طَعِمَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ

When one of you is invited (to a meal), and he is fasting, he should say that he is fasting. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2461)  

الدارمي:١٧٧٨أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ  

ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُفَسِّرِ لِلْأَلْفَاظِ الْمُجْمَلَةِ الَّتِي تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُنَا لَهَا

If any one of you is invited, he should accept (the invitation). In case he is fasting, he should pray (in order to bless the inmates of the house), and if he is not fasting he should eat. (Using translation from Muslim 1431)

الكبرى للنسائي:٦٥٧٥أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ شَاءَ طَعِمَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ»
