When any one of you is invited to a feast, he should accept it. He may eat if he likes, or he may abandon (eating) if he likes. Ibn Mathanni did not make mention of the word" feast". (Using translation from Muslim 1430a)

لا إِذا دُعِيَ أحدُكُمْ إلى طعامٍ فليُجبْ، فإِنْ شاءَ طَعِمَ وإنْ شَاءَ لمْ يَطعَمْ" .

The Prophet said: "When one of you is invited to eat then let him respond, if he is fasting then let him pray." Meaning: supplicate.  

الترمذي:٧٨٠حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَوَاءٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When someone invites you, respond to the invitation. If you wish, you may attend, and if you wish, you may decline."
