Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not that I would be overburdening my community I would have ordered them to use a tooth-stick."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Humayd ibn Abdar-Rahman ibn Awf that Abu Hurayra said, "Were it not that he would be overburdening his community he (the Messenger of Allah ﷺ) would have ordered them to use a tooth-stick with each wudu."

أَنْ يَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ لأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have delayed the 'Isha' prayer until one third or one half of the night had passed.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 691)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ لَوْلَا أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَخَّرْتُ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ وَلَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَوْ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ كَمَا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ وَتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not for the hardships on my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to delay the evening prayer and to use the toothbrush (siwak) with the prayer."

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الصَّلَاةِ

[Machine] "A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'If it were not difficult for my ummah (community), I would have commanded them to use the siwak (miswak) with every prayer.'"

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the tooth stick at every time of prayer.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 287)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "If it were not a hardship on my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak (toothstick) at every prayer." Abu Muhammad (one of the narrators) said, "He means the siwak."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِهِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي السِّوَاكَ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why do you come to me with dirty teeth? Had it not been difficult for my followers, I would have commanded them to brush their teeth with every prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا لَكُمْ تَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيَّ قُلْحًا تَسَوَّكُوا فَلَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يَتَسَوَّكوا عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "If it were not for the hardship placed upon my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak (toothstick) at every prayer."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my ummah, I would have made it obligatory for them to use the siwak (tooth stick) before every prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَجَعَلْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not for the fact that I do not want to burden my followers, I would have commanded them to use a toothstick (siwak) before every prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ تَضْعُفَ أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I had not found it hard for my followers or the people, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with Siwak for every prayer." (Using translation from Bukhārī 887)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ بِوُضُوءٍ وَمَعَ الْوُضُوءِ بِالسِّوَاكِ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»

[Machine] "To impose upon his nation the practice of using the siwak with every prayer or every ablution."

أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ لَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»

[Machine] "To ease the burden on his people, he ordered them to use the tooth stick with every prayer or ablution."

أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ لَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»

"Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the Siwak at (the time of) every Salah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 7)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَبِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Hurairah, the Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult upon my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the Siwak (tooth-stick) for every prayer." It has also been narrated by Abu Salamah, from Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ وَقِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ

"مَا لَكُمْ تَدخُلُونَ عَلَيَّ قُلْحًا، استَاكُوا فَلَولا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ طُهُورٍ".

"مَا لَكُم تَدْخُلونَ عَليَّ قُلحًا، تَسَوَّكَوا. فَلَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتي لأَمَرْتُهم أنْ يَتَسَوَّكُوا عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاة".

"لَوْلا أَنْ تَضْعُفُوا لأمَرْتُكُمْ بالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كلِّ صَلاة".

"لَوْلا أن أشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضتُ عَلَيهم السّواكَ عنْدَ كُلِّ وُضُوء".

"لَوْلا أن أشُقَّ عَلَى أمَّتِي لأمَرْتُهُم بالسِّوَاك عنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاة، كمَا يَتَوَضَّأُونَ".

"لَوْلا أَن أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمّتِى لأمَرْتُهُم أن يُصَلُّوهَا هَكَذَا -يعني: العشاءَ- نِصْفَ اللَّيلِ".

"لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُم بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ".

"لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُم بالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ كَمَا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ".

"لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيهِم السِّواكَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ كَمَا فَرَضْتُ عَلَيهِم الْوُضُوءَ".

"لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُم بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ، وَلأَخَّرْت صَلاةَ الْعِشَاءِ إلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيلِ".

"لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ لأَمَرْتُهُم بتَأخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ، وَبِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ".
