"Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the Siwak at (the time of) every Salah."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ  

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Were it not hard on my ummah, I would order them to use the tooth-stick at the time of every prayer. AbuSalamah said: Zayd ibn Khalid used to attend the prayers in the mosque with his tooth-stick on his ear where a clerk carries a pen, and whenever he got up for prayer he used it.  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ فَرَأَيْتُ زَيْدًا يَجْلِسُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَإِنَّ السِّوَاكَ مِنْ أُذُنِهِ مَوْضِعُ الْقَلَمِ مِنْ أُذُنِ الْكَاتِبِ فَكُلَّمَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ اسْتَاكَ  

Messenger of Allah said: "If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation, then I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ  

'I heard Messenger of Allah saying: 'If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation then, I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer and to delay the Isha prayer until the third of the night.'"He [Abu Salamah, one of the narrators] said: Zaid bin Khalid wouId attend the prayer in the Masjid and his Siwak would be on his ear in the location of the pen on the ear of a writer. He would not get up to pray without cleaning his teeth, then returning it to its location."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ وَلأَخَّرْتُ صَلاَةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ فَكَانَ زَيْدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ يَشْهَدُ الصَّلَوَاتِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَسِوَاكُهُ عَلَى أُذُنِهِ مَوْضِعَ الْقَلَمِ مِنْ أُذُنِ الْكَاتِبِ لاَ يَقُومُ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ إِلاَّ اسْتَنَّ ثُمَّ رَدَّهُ إِلَى مَوْضِعِهِ  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the tooth stick at every time of prayer.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ  

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.”  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have delayed the 'Isha' prayer until one third or one half of the night had passed.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 691)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ لَوْلَا أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَخَّرْتُ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ وَلَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the tooth stick at every time of prayer.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 287)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ  

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَوْ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ  

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قَالَ فَكَانَ زَيْدٌ يَرُوحُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَسِوَاكُهُ عَلَى أُذُنِهِ بِمَوْضِعِ قَلَمِ الْكَاتِبِ مَا تُقَامُ صَلَاةٌ إِلَّا اسْتَاكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not that I would be overburdening my community, I would have commanded them to use the toothstick (siwak) before every prayer." It is said that Zayd ibn Khalid would place the toothstick in his ear like a pen is placed by a writer, and whenever he got up for prayer, he would use the toothstick.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قَالَ فَكَانَ زَيْدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ يَضَعُ السِّوَاكَ مِنْهُ مَوْضِعَ الْقَلَمِ مِنْ أُذُنِ الْكَاتِبِ كُلَّمَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اسْتَاكَ  

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why do you come to me with dirty teeth? Had it not been difficult for my followers, I would have commanded them to brush their teeth with every prayer."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا لَكُمْ تَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيَّ قُلْحًا تَسَوَّكُوا فَلَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يَتَسَوَّكوا عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»  

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

("استَاكُوا -لولا أنْ أنْ أشُقَّ على أُمَّتِي لأمرْتُهم بالسواك عند كل صلاة".
