The Prophet ﷺ used to say at times of distress:

lā ilāha illā allāhu al-ʿaẓīmu al-ḥalīm, lā ilāha illā allāhu rabbu al-ʿarshi al-ʿaẓīm, lā ilāha illā allāhu rabbu al-samāwāti, wa-rabbu al-arḍi, wa-rabbu al-ʿarshi al-karīm

(There is no god but Allah, the All-Knowing, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the Noble Throne.)"

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ:

«لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ، رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ».

Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say at the time of difficulty, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Majestic, the Most Forbearing. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Lord of the Tremendous Throne. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Lord of the Heavens and the Lord of the Honourable Throne. (See Hadith No. 357, Vol. 8)

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهِنَّ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

" There is no god but Allah, the Great, the Tolerant, there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Heaven and the earth, the Lord of the Edifying Throne."

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

“O Allah, grant me health in my body, and grant me health in my sight, and make it the inheritor from me, there is none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous, Glory is to Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne, and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all that exists (Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī jasadi, wa ʿāfinī fī baṣarī, wajʿalhul-wāritha minnī, lā ilāha illāllah, al-ḥalīmul-karīm, subḥān Allāhi rabbil-ʿarshil-aẓīm, wal-ḥamdulillāhi rabbil-ʿalamīn).”

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي جَسَدِي وَعَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي وَاجْعَلْهُ الْوَارِثَ مِنِّي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Urge your dying ones to say: “La ilaha illallahul-Halimul-Karim, Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-‘Arshil-‘Azim, Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-‘alamin (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Kind. Glory is to Allah, Lord of the magnificent Throne; praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds).’” They said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what about those who are alive?’ He said: ‘Even better, even better.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَقِّنُوا مَوْتَاكُمْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ لِلأَحْيَاءِ قَالَ أَجْوَدُ وَأَجْوَدُ

“La ilaha illallahul-Halimul-Karim, Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-‘Arshil-‘Azim, Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-samawatis-sab’i wa Rabbil-‘Arshil-Azim (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Generous; glory is to Allah the Lord of the Mighty Throne; glory is to Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Magnificent Throne).” Waki’ said with each wording La ilaha illallahu (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) is to be included.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to say, if calamity befell me: “There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing the Most Generous; glory be to Allah, blessed be Allah, the Lord of the mighty Throne; praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.”

عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي كَرْبٌ أَنْ أَقُولَ (لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words that if you say them, you will be forgiven, even though you are already forgiven. There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Generous; there is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Almighty, Glory be to Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the mighty Throne, praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.”

قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا قُلْتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ مَعَ أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ (لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.)»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me some words and told me to say them if some distress or hardship befell me: ʿThere is no god but Allah, the Most Generous, the Forbearing, glory be to Him, Blessed be Allah, Lord of the mighty Throne and praise be to Allah the lord of the Worlds.

لَقَّنَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَؤُلاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ وَأَمَرَنِي إِنْ نَزَلَ بِي كَرْبٌ أَوْ شِدَّةٌ أَنْ أَقُولَهُنَّ (لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللهُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.)

The Messenger of Allah ؓ said: ʿShall I not teach you some words which, if you say them you will be forgiven, even though you are already forgiven: There is no god but Allah, Most High, the Almighty; there is no god but Him, the most Forbearing the Most Generous; glory be to Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne; praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا قُلْتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ عَلَى أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ؟ (لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.)»

[AI] When it enters upon you, say: "There is no deity except Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Great Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of all the worlds." And it has been claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he got upset, he would say: "This is what Hammad said." So I thought that he said it, but it did not reach him.

لَهَا إِذَا دَخَلَ بِكِ فَقُولِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا حَزَبَهُ أَمْرٌ قَالَ هَذَا قَالَ حَمَّادٌ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَلَمْ يَصِلِ الَيْهَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to say, if calamity befell me: “There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing the Most Generous; glory be to Allah, blessed be Allah, the Lord of the mighty Throne; praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 701)

عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي كَرْبٌ أَنْ أَقُولَ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me these words to say when I am afflicted with hardship or distress: "There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Honorable, Glorified and Exalted is He. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne, and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds." Abdullah bin Ja'far used to teach this to a dead person and blow it on the afflicted area. Bukhari and Muslim have narrated this hadith in a summarized form from Qatadah, from Abu Al-'Aliyah, from Ibn Abbas.

لَقَّنَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي شِدَّةٌ أَوْ كَرْبٌ أَنْ أَقُولَهُنَّ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» قَالَ «فَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ يُلَقِّنُهَا الْمَيِّتَ وَيَنْفُثُ بِهَا عَلَى الْمَوْعُوكِ» قَدْ أَخْرَجَ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَمُسْلِمٌ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مُخْتَصَرًا مِنْ حَدِيثِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words that if you say them, you will be forgiven, even though you are already forgiven. There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Generous; there is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Almighty, Glory be to Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the mighty Throne, praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 712)

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا عَلِيُّ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا قُلْتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ مَعَ أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

عَنِ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ أَفْضَلُ الْكَلامِ لا يَضُرُّكَ بِأَيِّهِنَّ بَدَأْتَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ولاَ إِلَهَ إلاَّ اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أكبر

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِهِ أَمْرٌ قَالَ لا إِلَهَ إلاَّ اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْعَظِيمُ لا إِلَهَ إلاَّ الله رب السَّماوَات وَالأَرْضِ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمُ ثُمَّ يَدْعُو

[AI] From his father, he said about these words: "There is no god but Allah, the Clement, the Mighty. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Noble Throne. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds." He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, 'Teach it to your dead.' They asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, how is it for the living?' He said, 'More worthy and more worthy.'"

عَنْ أَبِيهِ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَقِّنُوهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَكَيْفَ هِي لِلْأَحْيَاءِ؟ قَالَ «أَجْوَدُ وَأَجْوَدُ»

[AI] For his daughter when Al-Hajjaj entered upon her, when he enters upon you, say "There is no god but Allah, the Exalted, the Great. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Noble Throne. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." And he claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say it when fatigue overcame him, so she said it but he did not hear her.

لِابْنَتِهِ حِينَ دَخَلَ بِهَا عَلَى الْحَجَّاجِ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْكِ فَقُولِي «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُهُ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِهِ الْجَهْدُ فَقَالَتْهُ فَلَمْ يَصِلْ إِلَيْهَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to say, if calamity befell me: “There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing the Most Generous; glory be to Allah, blessed be Allah, the Lord of the mighty Throne; praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 701)

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ لَقَّانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ وَأَمَرَنِي إِنْ نَزَلَ بِي كُرْبَةٌ أَوْ شِدَّةٌ أَنْ أَقُولَهَا «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words that if you say them, you will be forgiven, even though you are already forgiven. There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Generous; there is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Almighty, Glory be to Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the mighty Throne, praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 712)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا أَنْتَ قُلْتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ مَعَ أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ؟» تَقُولُ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words that if you say them, you will be forgiven, even though you are already forgiven. There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Generous; there is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Almighty, Glory be to Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the mighty Throne, praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 712)

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا قُلْتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ عَلَى أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ؟ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me words to say in times of distress when I am afflicted with something. I have learned them to be good and not bad. I have singled you out with them when your affair distresses you: Say, "There is no god but Allah, the Clement and Wise. Glory be to Him, blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."

عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي مَا عَلَّمْتُهُنَّ حَسَنًا وَلَا حُسَيْنًا خَصَصْتُكَ بِهِنَّ إِذَا كَرَبَكَ أَمْرٌ فَقُلْ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

[AI] He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me these words and commanded me that if a calamity or difficulty befalls me, I should say: "There is no god but Allah, the Generous, the Forbearing. Glory be to Him, blessed be Allah, the Lord of the mighty Throne. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds." So, Abdullah ibn Ja'far used to teach these words to the deceased and blow them onto the face of the sick person, and he would teach them to his scattered daughters.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَقَّانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ وَأَمَرَنِي إِنْ نَزَلَ بِي كَرْبٌ أَوْ شِدَّةٌ أَنْ أَقُولَهَا «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ» فَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ يُلَقِّنُهَا الْمَيِّتَ وَيَنْفُثُ بِهَا عَلَى الْمَوْعُوكِ وَيُعَلِّمُهَا الْمُغْتَرِبَةَ مِنْ بَنَاتِهِ

[AI] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ taught them these words to say to the sick person: "There is no god but Allah, the Noble, the Forbearing. Glory be to Allah! Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne. And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds."

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَّمَهُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ يَقُولُهُنَّ عَلَى الْمَرِيضِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

[AI] The prophet ﷺ taught him words to say when he experienced distress. He would supplicate with the following words: "There is no god but Allah, the Clement and Noble. Glorified is Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds." This is incorrect and Ibn Thawban is weak and does not have the authority to support it. The correct hadith is the hadith of Ya'qub.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَلَّمَهُ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِهِ كَرْبٌ دَعَا بِهِنَّ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» هَذَا خَطَأٌ وابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ضَعِيفٌ لَا يَقُومُ بِمِثْلِهِ حُجَّةٌ وَالصَّوَابُ حَدِيثُ يَعْقُوبَ

[AI] The words of Al-Faraj: "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the Most High, the Great. There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Mighty Throne. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." Khalaf ibn Tamim differed in his chain of narration and in his wording.

كَلِمَاتُ الْفَرَجِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» [237] خَالَفَهُ خَلَفُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ وَفِي لَفْظِهِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words that if you say them, you will be forgiven, even though you are already forgiven. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِنْ أَنْتَ قُلْتَهُنَّ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكَ عَلَى أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» خَالَفَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ صَالِحٍ وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ

[AI] The words "There is no god but Allah, the Clement, the Merciful. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. O Allah, forgive me. O Allah, have mercy on me. O Allah, overlook my faults. O Allah, pardon me" were taught to me by my uncle, Abdullah bin Ja'far, who informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught him these words.

شَأْنِ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي اللهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي اللهُمَّ تَجَاوَزْ عَنِّي اللهُمَّ اعْفُ عَنِّي» قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمِّي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَّمَهُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ

[AI] Say: "There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the great Throne. O Allah, forgive me. O Allah, have mercy on me. O Allah, overlook my faults. O Allah, pardon me for you are the most forgiving, most merciful." Then he said: "My blind relatives taught me these words and mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ taught them to him."

قُلْ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي اللهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي اللهُمَّ تَجَاوَزْ عَنِّي اللهُمَّ اعْفُ عَنِّي فَإِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ غَفُورٌ» ثُمَّ قَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ عَلَّمَنِيهِنَّ عَمِّي وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَلَّمَهُنَّ إِيَّاهُ

[AI] When she enters upon you, say, "There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Noble. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Great Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of all the worlds." And he claimed that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was afflicted with something, he would say this.

لَهَا إِذَا دَخَلَ بِكِ فَقُولِي «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا حَزَبَهُ أَمْرٌ قَالَ هَذَا

"أَيُّمَا عَبْد قَال: لَا إِلَهَ إلا اللهُ الكَرِيمُ الحَلِيمُ، سُبْحَانِ اللهِ رَبِّ العَرْشِ العَظِيم، والحَمْدُ لله رَبِّ العَالمِينَ، حَقَّ عَلَى اللهِ تَعَالى أَنْ يُحَرِّمَهُ عَلَى النَّار".

"كَلمَاتُ الْفَرَج: لَا إِلهَ إلا الله الْحَليمُ الكَرِيمُ, لا إِلهَ إلا الله العَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ، لَا إلهَ إلا الله رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبع وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمُ".

"لَقَنوا مَوْتَاكُمْ: لَا إِلَهَ إلا الله، الحَليمُ الكريمُ، سبحان الله ربِّ السماوات السبع، وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، الْحَمْدُ للهِ ربِّ العَالمِينَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيفَ هِيَ للأَحْيَاءِ؟ ، قَال: أَجْوَدُ وَأَجْوَدُ".

"مَنْ قَال: لا إِلهَ إِلا الله الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ الله رَبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيم ثَلاثَ مَرَّات كانَ مِثْلَ مَنْ أَدْركَ لَيلَةَ الْقَدْرِ".

"مَنْ قَال: "لا إِله إلا الله، الْحَليمُ الْكَرِيم سُبْحَانَ الله رَبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ" ثَلاثَ مَرَّات، كَانَ مثلَ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ لَيلَةَ الْقَدر".

"لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله، الحَكِيم (*) الكريم، سُبْحَانَ الله، وَتَبَاركَ الله رَبُّ العَرْشِ الْعَظِيم، والْحَمْدُ لله رَبِّ الْعَالمِينَ".

"يَا عَلِيُّ: أَلاَ أُعَلِّمُكَ كلمَاتٍ إِذَا قُلتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ عَلَى أنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ؟ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله العَلِىُّ العَظِيمُ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ الله الحَكِيمُ الكَرِيمُ، سُبْحَانَ الله رَبِّ السمَوَاتِ السَّبع وَرَبِّ العَرْشِ العَظِيم، وَالحَمْدُ لله رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ".

"عن عَلِىٍّ قَالَ: عَلَّمَنِى رسولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَؤلاءِ الكَلمِاتِ وَأمَرنِى إِنْ نَزَلَ بِى كَرْبٌ أو شِدَّةٌ أنْ أقُولَها: "لاَ إِله إلاَّ اللهُ الحَلِيمُ الكَرِيمُ، سُبحانَ اللهِ، وتَبارك اللهُ ربُّ العَرْشِ العَظيِم والْحَمد للهِ رَبِّ العَالمِينَ".

"عَن عَبد الله بنِ الهَادِى، عَن عَبدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ: أنَّه كانَ يُعَلِّمُ بنَاتِه هَؤلاء الكَلِماتِ وَيأمرُهنَّ بِهِنَّ، وَيذْكر أَنَّه تَلَقَّاهُنَّ من عَلِىِّ بنِ أَبِى طَالِبٍ، وَأنَّ عَليّا قال: إنَّ رسول اللهِ ﷺ كانَ يَقُولُهُنَّ إذا كَرَبَه أَمْرٌ، وَاشتَدَّ بِه: لاَ إِلَه إلاَّ الله الحَلِيمُ الكَرِيمُ سُبحَانَهُ، تَبارَك الله ربُّ الْعالِمين، وربُّ العَرْشِ الْعظِيم، والحَمْدُ لله ربِّ العَالميِنَ".

"عَنْ عَلِىٍّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ علمه كَلِمات يَقُولُها عِنْد السُّلطَانِ وَعنْدَ كُلِّ شَيءٍ هَالَهُ وَهِىَ: لاَ إلِهَ إِلاَّ الله الْحَلِيمُ الكَرِيمُ، وسُبْحانَ الله رَبِّ السَّمواتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْش العَظيمِ، والْحَمدُ لله رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ. وَيَقُولُ عِنْدَهُن: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ عِبَادِكَ ".

"عَنْ عَلِىٍّ قَالَ: قَالَ لِى النَّبىُّ ﷺ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا أَنْتَ قُلْتَهُنَّ غَفَرَ الله لَكَ مَعَ أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظيمُ، سُبْحَانَ الله رَبَّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، الْحَمْدُ لله رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ".

"عَنْ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِىِّ بن أَبَى طالِبٍ أنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَر زَوَّج ابْنَتَهُ فَخَلا بهَا فَقَالَ: إِذَا نَزلَ بِكِ كَرْبُ الْمَوْتِ أَوْ أَمْرٌ مِنْ أَمُورِ الدُّنْيَا فَظِيع فَاسْتَقْبلِيهِ بِأَنْ تُقُولِى: لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله الْحَليمُ الْكَريمُ، سُبْحانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظيمِ، الْحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ الْعالمَينَ".

"عَنْ ابْن أَبِى رَافِع أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْن جَعْفَرٍ زَوَّجَ ابْنَتَهُ مِنَ الْحَجَّاج بْنِ يُوسُفَ فَقَالَ لَهَا: إِذا دَخَلَ بِكِ فَقُولى: لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله الْحَليمُ الْكَرِيمُ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ

الْعَظِيمِ، الْحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ الْعَالمِينَ، وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا حَزَبهُ أَمْرٌ قَالَ هَذَا، قَالَ: فَلَمْ يَصِلْ إِلَيْهَا".

" عَن أَبِى جَعْفَر قَالَ: كَلِمَاتُ الْفَرَج لَا إلَه إلَّا اللَّهُ العَلِىُّ الْعَظِيمُ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّه رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الكَرِيم، الْحَمْدُ للَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ، اللَّهُم اغْفر لِى وارْحَمْنى وتَجَاوَزْ عَنِّى، واعفُ عنِّى، فَإِنَّكَ غَفُور رحيمٌ".
