[AI] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his privacy and said, "O Messenger of Allah, may I enter?" He said, "Enter." I said, "All of me?" He said, "Yes, all of you." He said, "Hold on to six things that will occur before the Hour: the death of your Prophet, then I wept. Then the opening of Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) and a fitnah (trial) that will enter every house made of hair and mud, and wealth will overflow among you to the extent that a man will be given one hundred dinars and will be displeased with it. And there will be two deaths among the people, like the deaths of sheep attacked by wolves. And there will be a truce between you and the Banu Asfar (Yellow people), then they will betray you and march against you with an army of eighty banners, under each banner will be twelve thousand soldiers."

I went to the Prophet ﷺ during the Ghazwa of Tabuk while he was sitting in a leather tent. He said, "Count six signs that indicate the approach of the Hour: my death, the conquest of Jerusalem, a plague that will afflict you (and kill you in great numbers) as the plague that afflicts sheep, the increase of wealth to such an extent that even if one is given one hundred Dinars, he will not be satisfied; then an affliction which no Arab house will escape, and then a truce between you and Bani Al-Asfar (i.e. the Byzantines) who will betray you and attack you under eighty flags. Under each flag will be twelve thousand soldiers.

“I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the campaign of Tabuk, when he was in a tent made of leather, so I sat in front of the tent. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Enter, O ‘Awf.’ I said, ‘All of me, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘All of you.’ Then he said: ‘O ‘Awf, remember six things (that will occur) before the Hour comes, one of which is my death.’ I was very shocked and saddened at that. He said: ‘Count that as the first. Then (will come) the conquest of Baitul-Maqdis (Jerusalem); then a disease which will appear among you and cause you and your offspring to die as martyrs and will purify your deeds; then there will be (much) wealth among you, so that if a man were to be given one hundred Dinar he would still be dissatisfied; and there will be tribulation among you that will not leave any Muslim house untouched;* then there will be a treaty between you and the Romans, then they will betray you and march against you with eighty banners, under each of which will be twelve thousand (troops).’”

[AI] I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was performing ablution slowly. He raised his head and looked at me, then he said: "O Ummah, there are six signs of the death of your Prophet ﷺ." It seemed as if my heart was ripped out of its place. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "One of them is that wealth will increase among you until a man will be given ten thousand and he will still be unhappy with it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Two of them are that a trial will enter the house of every man among you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Three of them are that there will be a death among you like the death of a goat." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Four." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And there will be a truce between you and the people of Banu Asfar (Byzantines) for nine months, during which they will gather an army for you as much as the womb of a woman can carry a child, then they will betray you more than you betray them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Five." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And the conquest of a city." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Six." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, which city?" He said: "Constantinople."

I said, "The second and the third are the opening of Jerusalem and two deaths that will occur in my nation, taken like a flock of sheep". He said, "Three". He said, "And the fourth is a tribulation that will afflict my nation, and it will be severe." He said, "Four". He said, "And the fifth is an excess of wealth among you, to the extent that a man will be given a hundred dinars and he will be dissatisfied with them." He said, "Five". He said, "And the sixth is a truce that will be made between you and the yellow race, who will then attack you with eighty banners." I asked, "And what is the goal?" [AI] I heard Awf ibn Malik al-Ashja'i say, "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the battle of Tabuk, and he was in a dome made of adham (a type of red clay). He said to me, 'O Awf, prepare for six things before the end of time: My death, the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), then two deaths that will afflict you like the deaths of sheep, then an abundance of wealth among you to the extent that a man will be given a hundred dinars and he will remain dissatisfied, then a fitnah (trial) in which no Arab household will be spared, then a truce between you and the Banu Asfar (Romans) that they will break and come to you under eighty flags, with each flag led by twelve thousand men. I (al-Awf) said, 'We remembered this hadith from a senior scholar of Madinah, whose name was Waleed ibn Muslim.' And he (Waleed) said, 'Then the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis.' The sheikh (Awf) said, 'Sa'eed al-Maqburi informed me from Abu Hurairah that he used to narrate these six things from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and instead of saying 'the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis,' he would say, 'the existence of Bayt al-Maqdis.'"

[AI] I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Battle of Tabuk, in the late hours of the night while he was in his tent. I greeted him and asked, "May I enter?" He said, "Enter." I asked, "May I come all the way in?" He said, "Yes, all the way." Then he said, "There will be six signs before the Hour (Day of Judgment): First, the death of your Prophet. Say: One. I said, One. And the second is the conquest of Jerusalem. Say: Two. I said, Two. And the third is two deaths that will afflict you like the striking of a whip. Say: Three. I said, Three. And the fourth is an abundance of wealth to the extent that a man will be given a hundred dinars and he will still be unsatisfied. Say: Four. I said, Four. And the fifth is a trial that will come among you, so that no house of mud or brick will remain except that it will enter it. Say: Five. I said, Five. And the sixth is a truce between you and the yellow people, where they will gather against you and betray you after accepting a woman's carrying load. They will march forth with eighty banners, under each banner twelve thousand (soldiers)."

(Using translation from Bukhārī 3176)
