[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the trench when he said, "O Allah, there is no life except the life of the hereafter, so forgive the immigrants and the supporters."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, indeed the best is the good of the hereafter, so rectify the Ansar and the Muhajirun."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said in the Hadith, "Honor the Ansar and the Muhajireen."
On the day (of the battle) of the Trench, the Ansar were saying, "We are those who have sworn allegiance to Muhammad for Jihaid (for ever) as long as we live." The Prophet ﷺ replied to them, "O Allah! There is no life except the life of the Hereafter. So honor the Ansar and emigrants with Your Generosity." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2961)
The Prophet ﷺ went out on a cold morning while the Muhajirin (emigrants) and the Ansar were digging the trench. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "O Allah! The real goodness is the goodness of the Here after, so please forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirin." They replied, "We are those who have given the Pledge of allegiance to Muhammad for to observe Jihad as long as we remain alive." (Using translation from Bukhārī 7201)
The Emigrants and the Ansar started digging the trench around Medina carrying the earth on their backs and saying, "We are those who have given a pledge of allegiance to Muhammad that we will I carry on Jihad as long as we live." The Prophet ﷺ kept on replying, "O Allah, there is no good except the good of the Hereafter; so confer Your Blessings on the Ansar and the Emigrants." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2835)
48.63 [Machine] The mention of the Prophet's saying "If it were not for the migration, I would have been one of the Ansar.
The Prophet ﷺ or Abul-Qasim said, "If the Ansar took their way through a valley or a mountain pass, I would take Ansar's valley. And but for the migration, I would have been one of the Ansar." Abu Huraira used to say, "The Prophet ﷺ is not unjust (by saying so). May my parents be sacrificed for him, for the Ansar sheltered and helped him," or said a similar sentence. (Using translation from Bukhārī 3779)
Anas bin Malik said, "When the emigrants came Medina, they had nothing whereas the Ansar had land and property. The Ansar gave them their land on condition that the emigrants would give them half the yearly yield and work on the land and provide the necessaries for cultivation." His (i.e. Anas's mother who was also the mother of ʿAbdullah bin Abu Talha, gave some date-palms to Allah' Apostle who gave them to his freed slave-girl (Um Aiman) who was also the mother of Usama bin Zaid. When the Prophet ﷺ finished from the fighting against the people of Khaibar and returned to Medina, the emigrants returned to the Ansar the fruit gifts which the Ansar had given them. The Prophet ﷺ also returned to Anas's mother the date-palms. Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave Um Aiman other trees from his garden in lieu of the old gift. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2630)
The Ansar said to the Prophet ﷺ "Distribute the date palm trees between us and our emigrant brothers." He replied, "No." The Ansar said (to the emigrants), "Look after the trees (water and watch them) and share the fruits with us." The emigrants said, "We listen and obey." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2325)
When ʿAbdur-Rahman bin ʿAuf came to us, Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a bond of fraternity between him and Saʿd bin Ar-Rabiʿ who was a rich man, Saʿd said, "The Ansar know that I am the richest of all of them, so I will divide my property into two parts between me and you, and I have two wives; see which of the two you like so that I may divorce her and you can marry her after she becomes lawful to you by her passing the prescribed period (i.e. 'Idda) of divorce. ʿAbdur Rahman said, "May Allah bless you your family (i.e. wives) for you." (But ʿAbdur-Rahman went to the market) and did not return on that day except with some gain of dried yogurt and butter. He went on trading just a few days till he came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ bearing the traces of yellow scent over his clothes. Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What is this scent?" He replied, "I have married a woman from the Ansar." Allah's Apostle asked, "How much Mahr have you given?" He said, "A date-stone weight of gold or a golden date-stone." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Arrange a marriage banquet even with a sheep." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3781)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man who believes in Allah and the Last Day does not hate the Ansar." He also said, "If it were not for the Hijrah (migration), I would have been one of the Ansar. And if the Ansar traveled through a valley and a path, I would have traveled through their valley and path. The Ansar are my banner and the people are my protection."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Ansar are my near companions to whom I confided my private secrets, People will go on increasing but the Ansar will go on decreasing; so accept the good of the good-doers amongst them and excuse the wrong-doers amongst them. " (Using translation from Bukhārī 3801)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, if the people were to take a valley and the Ansar were to take a valley, I would choose the valley of the Ansar. The Ansar are my family and my honor. If it were not for the migration, I would have been one of the Ansar."
On the day of the Conquest of Mecca, when the Prophet ﷺ had given (from the booty) the Quraish, the Ansar said, "By Allah, this is indeed very strange: While our swords are still dribbling with the blood of Quraish, our war booty are distributed amongst them." When this news reached the Prophet ﷺ he called the Ansar and said, "What is this news that has reached me from you?" They used not to tell lies, so they replied, "What has reached you is true." He said, "Doesn't it please you that the people take the booty to their homes and you take Messenger of Allah ﷺ to your homes? If the Ansar took their way through a valley or a mountain pass, I would take the Ansar's valley or a mountain pass." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3778)
48.64 [Machine] The Prophet's love for the Ansar
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ went out one day with a headache, and he was welcomed by the Ansar and their servants. They were not in a good mood. The Prophet said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I love you two or three times." Then he said, "The Ansar have fulfilled their duty, and what remains is upon you. So be good to those who are good among them, and overlook the harm caused by those who harm."
[Machine] "And by the One in whose hand is my soul, indeed, you are the most beloved people to me." He repeated this three times, as if he meant himself.
[Machine] A woman from the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, you are among the dearest of people to me, whoever I love for the sake of Allah, I love him for my sake, and whoever I hate for the sake of Allah, I hate him for my sake."
48.65 [Machine] Encouragement to Love The Ansar
The sign of a hypocrite is the hatred against the Ansar and the sign of a believer is the love for the Ansar. (Using translation from Muslim 74a)
48.66 [Machine] The intensification of resentment towards the Ansar
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah will love him, and whoever hates the Ansar, Allah will hate him."
A person who believes in Allah and the Last Day never nurses a grudge against the Ansar. (Using translation from Muslim 76)
"None but the believer loves them, none but the hypocrite hates them. He who loves them loves Allah and he who hates them hates Allah." I (the narrator) said: Did you hear this hadith from al-Bara'? He said: He narrated it to me. (Using translation from Muslim 75)
When Allah favored His Apostle with the properties of Hawazin tribe as Fai (booty), he started giving to some Quarries men even up to one-hundred camels each, whereupon some Ansari men said about Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "May Allah forgive His Apostle! He is giving to (men of) Quraish and leaves us, in spite of the fact that our swords are still dropping blood (of the infidels)" When Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of what they had said, he called the Ansar and gathered them in a leather tent and did not call anybody else along, with them. When they gathered, Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to them and said, "What is the statement which, I have been informed, and that which you have said?" The learned ones among them replied," O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! The wise ones amongst us did not say anything, but the youngsters amongst us said, 'May Allah forgive His Apostle; he gives the Quarish and leaves the Ansar, in spite of the fact that our swords are still dribbling (wet) with the blood of the infidels.' " Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, I give to such people as are still close to the period of Infidelity (i.e. they have recently embraced Islam and Faith is still weak in their hearts). Won't you be pleased to see people go with fortune, while you return with Messenger of Allah ﷺ to your houses? By Allah, what you will return with, is better than what they are returning with." The Ansar replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we are satisfied' Then the Prophet ﷺ said to them." You will find after me, others being preferred to you. Then be patient till you meet Allah and meet His Apostle at Al-Kauthar (i.e. a fount in Paradise)." (Anas added:) But we did not remain patient. (Using translation from Bukhārī 3147)
48.67 [Machine] Mentioning the Role of the Ansar
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I tell you of the best families among the Ansar?" They (the people) said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!" The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best are Banu- An-Najjar, and after them are Banu ʿAbdil Ash-hal, and after them are Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj, and after them are Banu Saʿida." The Prophet ﷺ then moved his hand by closing his fingers and then opening them like one throwing something, and then said, "Anyhow, there is good in all the families of the Ansar. The worthiest clans of the Ansar are Banu Najjar, thereafter Banu al-Ashhal; thereafter Banu Harith b. Banu Khazraj; thereafter Banu Sa'idah and there is goodness in all clans of the Ansar. [Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "The best Ansar (helpers) are the Banu Najjar, then the Banu Abd al-Ashhal, then the Banu Abd al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj, then the Banu Sa'ida, and all of you are the best."

[Machine] I heard Abu Huraira, while he was in a great gathering of Muslims, say: Should I not inform you about the best tribe among the Ansar? They replied: Yes, please do. He said: The tribe of Bani Abdul Ashhal. They asked: Then, who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Then, the tribe of Bani An-Najjar. They asked: Then, who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Then, the tribe of Bani Al-Harith bin Khazraj. They asked: Then, who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: The Ansar are the best among all the tribes.

[Machine] Osaid bin Hudhayr Al-Ashhali, the captain, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a portion of food. It was mentioned to him that there was a household from the Banu Tha'far of the Ansar in need. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Osaid, you have left us until what is in our hands has been depleted. When you hear that something has come to us, then mention the household to me." After that, he brought him food from Khaybar, which consisted of barley and dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed among the people and also divided it among the Ansar, giving a larger portion to the household. Osaid bin Hudhayr expressed his gratitude and said, "May Allah reward you, O Prophet of Allah, with the best reward." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "And you, O people of the Ansar, may Allah reward you with the best reward, for you are known for your patience and support, and you will face hardship after me in matters of governance and distribution. So be patient until you meet me at the Pond."

Abu Bakr and Al-ʿAbbas passed by one of the gatherings of the Ansar who were weeping then. He (i.e. Abu Bakr or Al-ʿAbbas) asked, "Why are you weeping?" They replied, "We are weeping because we remember the gathering of the Prophet ﷺ with us." So Abu Bakr went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him of that. The Prophet ﷺ came out, tying his head with a piece of the hem of a sheet. He ascended the pulpit which he never ascended after that day. He glorified and praised Allah and then said, "I request you to take care of the Ansar as they are my near companions to whom I confided my private secrets. They have fulfilled their obligations and rights which were enjoined on them but there remains what is for them. So, accept the good of the good-doers amongst them and excuse the wrongdoers amongst them." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3799)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "O people of the Ansaar, did I not come to you while you were misguided and Allah guided you through me?" They replied, "Indeed, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Did I not come to you while you were enemies and Allah united your hearts through me?" They said, "Indeed, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Why then do you not say that I came to you when you were afraid and you believed in me? And when you were in need and you sought refuge with me? And when you were weakened and I supported you?" The Ansaar said, "Indeed, all goodness is for Allah and His Messenger."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for Badr and consulted the Muslims. Abu Bakr pointed at him, then he consulted them and Umar pointed at him. The Anṣar (Helpers) said, "O people of the Anṣar, beware of what the Messenger of Allah wants!" He said, "Then let us not say what the children of Israel said to Moses, 'Go, you and your Lord, and fight. We will stay here.'"
