48. Virtues of the Companions
[Machine] There was an exchange of words between me and 'Ammaar, and I became harsh in my speech towards him. 'Ammaar then went to complain about me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so Khalid came with 'Ammaar to complain about me. Khalid began to worsen the situation for him, and nothing made him feel worse except for Khalid's harshness. The Prophet ﷺ remained silent, so 'Ammaar began to cry. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, don't you see him?" The Prophet ﷺ raised his head and said, "Whoever opposes 'Ammaar, Allah will oppose him, and whoever hates 'Ammaar, Allah will hate him." Khalid said, "So I left, and there was nothing dearer to me than 'Ammaar's satisfaction. I met him and he accepted my apology."
[Machine] Khalid sent me as a messenger of the Prophet ﷺ in a military expedition, and we encountered a group of people who were united. Ammar said, "These people have oppressed us with their unity, so I did not pay attention to Ammar's words." Ammar said, "Should I not inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" When we arrived to him, I expressed my doubt to him. When he saw that the Prophet ﷺ did not support me, he turned away and his eyes were filled with tears. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "O Khalid, do not curse Ammar, for whoever curses Ammar, Allah will curse him, and whoever belittles Ammar, Allah will belittle him, and whoever ridicules Ammar, Allah will ridicule him." Khalid said, "There is nothing of my sins that I fear more than ridiculing Ammar."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not curse Ammar, for whoever curses Ammar, Allah will curse him, and whoever hates Ammar, Allah will hate him, and whoever belittles Ammar, Allah will belittle him."
That one of the Companions of the Prophet [SAW] said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Ammar's heart overflows with Faith.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5007)
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ should not die on the day he died while still loving a man, and Allah would admit him to Hell." They said: "We used to see him loving you, as he used to employ you." He said: "Allah knows best whether he loved me or he was associating with me, but we used to see him loving a man." They said: "Who is that man?" He said: "Amr ibn Yasir." They said: "That is the one you killed on the day of Siffin." He said: "By Allah, we indeed killed him."
A group of rebels would kill you. (Using translation from Muslim 2916a)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "No one is given a choice between two matters except that he chooses the more severe of the two."
