The Prophet ﷺ commanded seven, and forbade seven
I entered upon al-Barā’ b. ʿĀzib and heard him say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us with seven things and forbade us from seven things. He commanded us: (1) to visit the sick, (2) to follow the funeral procession, (3) to say “may Allah have mercy on you” to one who sneezes, (4) to fulfill an oath or the request of one who makes an oath, (5) to help the oppressed, (6) to accept the invitation of one who invites, and (7) to spread greetings of peace.
And he forbade us: (1) gold rings, or wearing gold, (2) drinking from silver, (3) saddle-cloths ˹made of silk˺, (4) qassi (silk-linen clothing), (5) wearing silk, (6) istabraq (thick brocade), and (7) dibaj (brocade).
