23.2 The order of following the funeral procession

bukhari:1239Abū al-Walīd > Shuʿbah > al-Ashʿath > Muʿāwiyah b. Sūwayd b. Muqarrin > al-Barāʾ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to do seven things and forbade us to do other seven. He ordered us: to follow the funeral procession. to visit the sick, to accept invitations, to help the oppressed, to fulfill the oaths, to return the greeting and to reply to the sneezer: (saying, "May Allah be merciful on you," provided the sneezer says, "All the praises are for Allah,"). He forbade us to use silver utensils and dishes and to wear golden rings, silk (clothes), Dibaj (pure silk cloth), Qissi and Istabraq (two kinds of silk cloths).

Five rights of a Muslim upon another Muslim

bukhari:1240Muḥammad > ʿAmr b. Abū Salamah > al-Awzāʿī > Ibn Shihāb > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab > Abū Hurayrah

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “The rights of a Muslim over another Muslim are five: (1) returning the greeting of peace, (2) visiting the sick, (3) following funeral processions, (4) accepting an invitation, and (5) responding to one who sneezes ˹by saying, ‘May Allah have mercy on you’˺.”

ʿAbd al-Razzāq followed him and said: Maʿmar informed us; and it was also narrated by Salamah from ʿUqayl.
