ذِكْرُ مَا يُسْتَحَبُّ أَنْ يُقْرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ

ibnhibban:3071 – Abū Yaʿlá > Muḥriz b. ʿAwn > Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd from his father > Ṭalḥah b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAwf > Ṣallayt Khalf Ibn ʿAbbās > Janāzah Faqaraʾ Bifātiḥah al-Kitāb And Jahar Ḥattá Asmaʿanā Falammā Ānṣarafat Akhadht Biyadih Fasaʾaltuh > Dhalik

"I offered the funeral prayer behind Ibn 'Abbas. He recited Fatihat Al-Kitab and a Surah, which he recited loudly, such that we could hear him. When he finished I took him by the hand and asked him. He said: '(It is) Sunnah and the truth."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1987)  

ابن حبّان:٣٠٧١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحْرِزُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَجَهَرَ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَنَا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَتْ أَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ

«سُنَّةٌ وَحَقٌّ»
