That he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "The best of the Ansar, or the best of the Ansar families (homes) are Banu An-Najjar, Bani ʿAbdul Ash-hal, Banu Al-Harith and Banu Sai'da."
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ خَيْرُ الأَنْصَارِ أَوْ قَالَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ وَبَنُو عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ وَبَنُو الْحَارِثِ وَبَنُو سَاعِدَةَ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Shall I not tell you of the best tribe of the Ansar? Banun-Najjar, then Banu ʿAbdul Ashhal, then Banul-Harith bin al-Khazraj. then Banu Saʿidah.ʿ and he said: ʿIn each tribe of the Ansar there is goodness.”
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ؟ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بِالْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ وَقَالَ فِي كُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ

On this, Saʿd (bin Ubada) said, "I see that the Prophet ﷺ has preferred some people to us." Somebody said (to him), "No, but he has given you superiority to many." ("خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصارِ بنو النجارِ، ثم بنو عبدِ الأَشْهَلِ، ثم بنو الحارث، ثم بنو ساعدةَ، وَفِى كلِّ دُورِ الأَنصَارِ خَيْرٌ".
