The worthiest clans of the Ansar are Banu Najjar, thereafter Banu al-Ashhal; thereafter Banu Harith b. Banu Khazraj; thereafter Banu Sa'idah and there is goodness in all clans of the Ansar. Sa'd said: I see that he (the Holy Prophet) has placed others above us. It was said to (him): He has placed you above many others.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ مَا أُرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلاَّ قَدْ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا فَقِيلَ قَدْ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Best houses of the Ansar are the houses of Banu An-Najjar, then the house of Banu 'Abdul-Ashhal, then Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj, then Banu Sa'idah. And in all of the houses of the Ansar there is good." So Sa'd said: "I do not see except that the Prophet ﷺ has preferred everyone over us." So it was said: "He preferred you over many."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ دُورُ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ دُورُ بَنِي عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ مَا أَرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلاَّ قَدْ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا فَقِيلَ قَدْ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Shall I not tell you of the best tribe of the Ansar? Banun-Najjar, then Banu ʿAbdul Ashhal, then Banul-Harith bin al-Khazraj. then Banu Saʿidah.ʿ and he said: ʿIn each tribe of the Ansar there is goodness.”

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of the Ansar's families (homes) are those of Banu An-Najjar and then (those of) Banu ʿAbdul Ash-hal, then (those of) Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj and then (those of) Banu Saʿida; nevertheless, there is good in all the families (houses) of the Ansar." On this, Saʿd (bin Ubada) said, "I see that the Prophet ﷺ has preferred some people to us." Somebody said (to him), "No, but he has given you superiority to many." The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best family among the Ansar is the Banu An-Najjar. " (Using translation from Bukhārī 6053)

That he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "The best of the Ansar, or the best of the Ansar families (homes) are Banu An-Najjar, Bani ʿAbdul Ash-hal, Banu Al-Harith and Banu Sai'da." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3790)

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «خَيْرُ الْأَنْصَارِ أَوْ خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ»

[Machine] He ﷺ said, "The best of the Ansar are the Banu Najjar, then the Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal, then the Banu al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj, and the Banu Sa'idah, and in every generation of the Ansar there is goodness." It was said, "So he preferred them over us?" He said, "Yes, he preferred you over many others."

ﷺ قَالَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ وَبَنُو سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ فَقِيلَ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ فَقِيلَ قَدْ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ

اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم أَلا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ قُلْنَا بَلَى يَا رَسولَ اللهِ قَالَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ قُلْنَا ثُمَّ أَيُّ قَالَ ثُمَّ دُورُ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بن الخزرج ثُمَّ دور بني الأشهل ثُمَّ بني ساعدة ثُمَّ قال بيد فَأَدَارَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ كُلُّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌوَهَذَانِ الْحَدِيثَانِ قَدْ رَوَاهُمَا عَن يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيد عَن أَنَسٍ جَمَاعَةٌ

"أَلا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِحيْرِ دُورِ الأَنْصَار؟ خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصَار دَارُ بنى النَّجَّارِ،

ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِى عبدِ الأَشْهَلِ، ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِى الحَارِثِ بن الخَزْرجِ، ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِى سَاعِدَةَ، وَفى كُلِّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ".

"إِنَّ خَيْرَ دورِ الأَنْصَارِ عَبْدُ الأَشْهَل، ثمَّ دَارُ الحارثِ بن الخزرجِ، ثمَّ دَارُ بنى النجَّارِ، ثمَّ دَارُ بنى ساعدَة، فقال سعدٌ، يا رسولَ اللَّهِ جعَلتنا آخِرَ القبائل، قال: إِذا كُنْتَ من الخيارِ فحسبُكَ" .

("خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصارِ بنو النجارِ، ثم بنو عبدِ الأَشْهَلِ، ثم بنو الحارث، ثم بنو ساعدةَ، وَفِى كلِّ دُورِ الأَنصَارِ خَيْرٌ".
