سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟» فَقَالَ وَأَتَحَلَّلُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ فُلَانٌ؟

Abdullah ibn AbuBakr reported that he heard Urwah say: I entered upon Marwan ibn al-Hakam. We mentioned things that render the ablution void. Marwan said: Does it become void by touching the penis? Urwah replied: This I do not know. Marwan said: Busrah daughter of Safwan reported to me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: He who touches his penis should perform ablution. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 181)

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَتَوَضَّأُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ»

[AI] When the Messenger of Allah commanded the use of bells, he mentioned something similar.

لَمَّا أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالنَّاقُوسِ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, in your wealth there is a right besides the obligatory charity (zakat)."

"I came to the Messenger of Allah" and he mentioned something similar. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4176)

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

[AI] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about hunting with throwing arrows, so he mentioned something similar to it.

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْمِعْرَاضِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4096)

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُهُ»

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘Prophecy is gone, but good dreams remain.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3896)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «ذَهَبَتِ النُّبُوَّةُ وَبَقِيَتِ الْمُبَشِّرَاتُ»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The hand is not to be cut off for (stealing) produce or the spadix of palm trees."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4960)

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "A good deed is rewarded ten times its like."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and he mentioned its meaning without attributing it to anyone.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ وَلَمْيُسْنِدْهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I looked up and he mentioned something similar to it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اطَّلَعْتُ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] Regarding the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he mentioned something similar to it.

عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a night off and mentioned its significance.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْتَمَ لَيْلَةً فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Breaking the bone of a believer after their death is the same as breaking it while they are alive."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ كَسْرَ عَظْمِ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَيْتًا مِثْلُ كَسْرِ عَظْمِهِ حَيًّا

[AI] I heard Umm Salama mentioning the story.

سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

[AI] "While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned its meaning with us."

بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and mentioned something similar."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said in my house, so he mentioned its meaning.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِي فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] She saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ riding on a camel and holding a pearl in his hand, then he mentioned the conversation.

أَنَّهَا رَأَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ وَبِيَدِهِ دِرَّةٌ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying something similar to that.

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying something similar to that.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for us and mentioned us.

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَهُ

"No one hoards but a sinner."' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2154)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَحْتَكِرُ إِلَّا خَاطِئٌ

[AI] His mother came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "So he mentioned its meaning with us."

أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The punishment of my ummah (nation) is in this world."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «عَذَابُ أُمَّتِي فِي دُنْيَاهَا»

The above mentioned tradition has also been transmitted in a similar manner by Ibn 'Abbas from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1491)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

"We prayed with Abdullah bin Mas'ud in his house. He stood between us and we placed our hands on our knees, but he took them off and made us interlace our fingers, and said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1030)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Witr (the nightly odd numbered prayer) is a right (that it should be performed)." Then the narrated something similar.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْوِتْرُ حَقٌّ» فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ

I heard Allah's Apostle ﷺ as saying. Every servant would be raised (in the same very state) in which he dies. (Using translation from Muslim 2878a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يُبْعَثُ كُلُّ عَبْدٍ عَلَى مَا مَاتَ»

“I asked Jabir bin ‘Abdullah about hyenas: ‘Are they game (that can be hunted)?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Can I eat them?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Is this something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ He said: ‘Yes.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3236)

قُلْتُ أَيُؤْكَلُ الضَّبُعُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قُلْتُ أَصَيْدٌ هِيَ؟ قَالَ أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

" That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who shows no mercy to the people, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, does not show mercy to him." (Using translation from Muslim 2319a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللَّهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Remorse is repentance." He (the person being addressed) said, "Yes."

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ»؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Every intoxicant is unlawful.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3387)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ»

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The evil eye is a fact," and he forbade tattooing. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5944)

وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْعَيْنُ حَقٌّ» وَنَهَى عَنِ الْوَشْمِ «

‘Urwa bin Al Zubair said “Hisham bin Halim bin Hizam found a man who was the governor of Hims making some Copts stand in the sun for the payment of jizyah. He said “What is this?” I heard the Apostle ﷺ as saying “Allaah Most High will punish those who punish the people in this world.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3045)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا»

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "The Throne (of Allah) shook at the death of Saʿd bin Muʿadh." Through another group of narrators, Jabir added, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ : saying, 'The Throne of the Beneficent shook because of the death of Saʿd bin Muʿadh." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3803)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اهْتَزَّ الْعَرْشُ لِوَفَاةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah [SAW] say: 'Whoever fights to protect his wealth and is killed, he is a martyr.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4084)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, this epidemic is a form of punishment." And he mentioned the hadith.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَبَاءَ رِجْزٌ» فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
